I was asked out by a young man in my early teens and as we were sitting in church I asked him where the organ was? If I remember correctly he told me it was out being repaired and then I realize I was in the church that did not believe in musical instruments. That young man was such a nice guy as I am sure the OP is.

So Shave be prepared to duck because some of us have a hard time getting along with those of different beliefs, I don't happen to be one of them. As long as Jesus is your personal savior then welcome to Christian Chat and may we someday meet around the banquet table in heaven, but watch out for flying stones as they will come fast and furious from those not so accepting.
You should read Galatians chapter 1 and pay particular to the word (another) which is used twice...then get a Greek to English dictionary and study both words and then go to chapter 3 and read a few verses as many teach a GOSPEL OF A DIFFERENT KIND WHICH HAS NO POWER TO SAVE AND IS CONDEMNED TWICE TO HELL BY PAUL WHO WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE IT...

Not every religion that names Jesus teaches the truth about biblical salvation...COC being one of them!

Did you even READ the OP??

He is the one who said WE were going to hell if we did not go to his church! No one says that but a cult member. Or maybe you think we should all join the CoC and be cult members too??

Very strange. The first stone thrown was the OP, and it was a pretty big one!

I went to a CoC service once and it was super rigid. Years ago a friend and I were at a Starbucks with our bibles open and discussing scripture. A nice guy came over and starting talking with us…it was great. He asked us what church we attended and we chatted about God a bit. He then suddenly went into a spiel about how CoC is the true church and that we should really be going there. He was asking us if we were baptized, if we believed worship should have instruments. It was so weird. We were like, "Yeah brother we're all good with Jesus right here."
That is the perfect response! Good work.

JesusLives, if something isn't from God, we shouldn't pretend that it is. That said, I know nothing about the American Church of Christ, other than their strange policy on not having instruments. If their key doctrines line up with God's Word and the main tenants of the Christian faith, then no worries. If they don't, there's cause for concern. Also, nothing will stop me from seeing instruments as an amazing tool to worship with or just enjoy. But the fact that they condemn all who don't belong to the CoC points to them being a cult.

When I meet someone who has a face that expresses love, peace and joy I usually have it right, that person is a Christian. I can't imagine a Christian with this joy opposed to music! That isn't a person who stands shaking their fingers at others, but one who loves others.

Who needs to have more love shown to them than someone telling you the you are going to hell. It's been happening to me a lot lately and I still want to show everyone love. It does not mean I agree with everyone, but there is enough angst going on some of these threads I refuse to add any more.

I have been instructed to love my neighbor and I would like to honor that request.

Love and truth go hand in hand and you cannot have one without the other...no where are we commanded to chunk the truth so as to love heretical teaching.....If you truly love somebody you will tell them the truth even if it cuts, hurts, divides etc...

There is a difference between true love and self righteousness and denominational bashing. Who has a better chance of helping a brother? An in your face your not right or someone who will befriend you and try and help you work it out?

If the church you attend is not FOUNDED on Jesus Christ, it is not a true Church!(Matt 16:18) It is that simple. If your church teaches the waters of baptism saves, that church is not founded on Jesus, but on man made tradition which cannot save. Satan oftentimes looks like a Christian, and his doctrines look Christian, even his ministers look like the real deal. The Bible has warned about this!(2 Cor 11:13-15)

I know about these people. My dad's mother was CoC. You could not talk with her.
She always told us who disagreed with her we were going to hell.
She drove all five of her sons to hate God and church.
All, including my dad, are probably in hell today

Tell that to...

John the Baptist-->O generation of Vipers who hath warned you to flee the wrath to come as the axe is laid to the root
Jesus--->Hypocrites, white washed coffins and children of hell
Elijah---->maybe your god sleepeth or is away on some journey

etc.

Church is not a place to worship God. It is a place to receive instruction. The early church met often, Not once a week. They met once a week to receive instruction. One of the best ways of remembering instruction is through Song. David wrote alot of music (the psalms) We all, when we hear a particular song, have memories return by the song. Some things we encounter, We use a song and a melody to remember a truth. God uses music in many ways.

As for worshiping God. God wants us to worship him with our lives, not in religious ceremony, repetitious by the book meetings once a week. He wants us to worship him by honoring him by living as he lived. By doing unto others. By sharing Gods love to a lost and broken world.

The church has saddenly taken from the pagans and the jews in their legalistic doings in ritual and ceremony. And gotten away from the true worship of God. The place we meet on Sunday is not God's house Gods house is our bodies, He does not reside in a house made with hands, The cross did away with this. The curtain was wrent in two to show he no longer is relegated to a clean room. And he no longer resides in a building. He resides in each and every one of his children. And he wants us as a family to do what he did. Look to him for guidance He showed us the way.

Oh if we would just return. God would hear our songs raised to him, He would power our work as we work for him, And he would bless us in ways we can only imagine!

Some people can't be helped.

Others say something so damaging to Gods character they have to be called out for it.

John the baptist, Jesus, and the apostles had no problem calling someone out when they had damaging doctrines or said something that would hurt Gods character.

Some people repent, and thank the ones who called them out. SOme get angry, and run away or hash out.. If they do this, There heart was not right to begin with.

It is interesting how (organized worship) has become...well it is time to go to church....and or some entertainment center with rock bands center stage, gymnasiums, ecumenical programs that promote winners and looser etc. while the word of God is pushed off to the side and out the door in favor of the above.....

I should add that not all do this as there are some that worship in sincerity and in truth...

How about giving some Bible to back up your claims. Doctrine is based on the Bible not peoples opinions. While there can only be one truth it is not Biblical to say only members of one particular denomination will be saved.

Classrooms for childrens sunday school, and so we can have growing education classes for christian growth, ministry and leadership training.

think of all the people yuo can help with the extra money you saved

There's is but one true church of the bible, that being the CoC in which instruments are not authorized. I'm not here to become changed into believing that instruments are permitted, I'm here to make you understand that if you are a member of a church that uses instruments in worship you are worshipping falsely and your soul is LOST. The blame lies with spiritually lazy ignorant elders who have been swayed by people who seem to have the personality, the charisma to alter these elders position on standing up for the truth of the word. If you are a member of one of these churches I urge you to go to a spiritually sound church and get right with God by asking your new members to pray for you and to ask God for forgiveness in your error of belief of instruments being permitted. God has his way he wants to be worshipped and that doesn't include instruments. I urge you to study up on these BCV causing the problems, such as psalms, what Paul truly says on singing and instruments and King David and the pagans who used instruments, read and study for yourself to see the truth and know what caused this deadly problem which has caused many to become lost because of the Churches of Christ causing such confusion over instruments, that is the CoC that have gone to believe man instead of God.
"Those who use musical instruments will not enter the kingdom of Heaven"

I don't see that in my bible.

And I am a member of the CoC that is acapella. I would NEVER condemn someone like you have! You need help.
