Hello, I was wondering what other books are historically around "scripture". Enoch 1, used to be part of Judaism scripture apparently, but was removed because it looked to link to Jesus Christ too much, apparently.

Jasher seems an attempt to create a shorter Bible as far as I can tell, so I might not read it fully.

Are there any other potential "scripture" books not in the "cannon"? Also any small really decent books appreciated/eg, Thoughts for young men-ryle, or grace essentials-biblical christianity- John Calvin etc.

Thanks.
all the non-congical books are helpful for history, culture and other insights that can be used (only as a supplement) along with the Bible.

The Bible speaks about the Book of Jasher and the Book of Enoch. One might try the 'the Words of Josephus', This will give you the accountings of the destruction of Jerusalem and temple.

Good luck with it.

I'm no expert for sure, but I found spiritual value in reading both.
