11COR. 12:7-8-9-10.

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations,
there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I should be exalted above measure.

For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

I don't understand why Christians insist on making God fit their life situations when it should be the other way around for us. We should fit our life and issues and situations into the truth of who God is. God is love. God does not cause evil nor does He need to use evil. He will use evil and make something good come of it but He is not the One who brings the evil into our situations.

The world, the flesh and the devil are what bring evil into the world. God gave us all we needed to overcome evil., He told us to overcome evil with good just the way He does. How can we do this if God is out there bringing evil to pass? It is God who sent His Son to defeat sin and death and the devil.

I've decided to not go the route of conventional religion the way I used to. The thorn in the flesh of Paul were actual people sent by satan to torment and annoy and bother Paul's ministry as he went about preaching and teaching the Lord Jesus. How frustrating would it be for us if we were in a ministry and the same horde of evil people kept following us and just when we finished giving the truth to a group of people, these evil ones come along and distort what we said?

There was no finished Bible at the time so I can imagine how difficult it would be to have words and meanings purposefully distorted to confuse and scatter the sheep in each new church. The old ways of seeing God from the years of teaching about the law now being totally changed into the gospel of grace and truth and the Spirit.
No more depending on works but solely depending on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and Him rising again.

Why do people insist on making this about God giving Paul a sickness as if Paul needed to be brought down to earth by the reality of sin and sickness and death? No way., that is not our God. He wanted Paul to preach the direct opposite of sin and sickness and death. Paul was to preach about Christ the Giver of life., the Healer and the great Physician.

So to all those who insist on taking sickness to their bosom as if God sent it I ask you to consider the one who is the author of confusion. satan not God the Father and Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit the Comforter and teacher for us while we are here on earth. God is the giver of life, the Healer and the One who dispels confusion in our lives. Not the one who brings it.

I have decided to fight all things that are against the clear viewpoint of God being all good and all gracious. He spared not His only Son., why would He confuse us with sending us sickness and death after sending His Son to defeat those bad things??

You fellow believers can believe what you want and you have every right to it. And so do I as a believer. And as much as many of you will unfortunately distort the truth because of your own experiences and reasoning, I will seek to not only fight my own tendencies towards that way of thinking but will share with you when Jesus pours grace into my once sorry pathetic life. He really does make all things new.

This Is a subject for discussion that I myself would like to know more about.

No easy to answer. We have to see that it was not in garden Eden. So generell sickness and physical death for human and the whole creation is a consequence of sinning from Adam and Eva!
I believe God can use sickness, can allow sickness, but he is not the reason for sickness.
I know from people that God uses sickness for their return to Christ.
Of course sickness can be a consequence of our personell unhealthy livestyle. Many reasons we can find to become sick.
But not always our personell doings are reason for a sickness. I speak from f.e. lungcancer without having smoked only one cigarette.
But as I said- the beginning came with the sin of Adam and Eva!

Just a few words on this subject. I am sorry to have to report to some who do not what to believe, but the sacrifice of Christ simply does not in this life guarantee abundant health or wealth. We are given a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ and therefore we can go to God for anything, health, lack of money, marital problems, anything, however we are not guaranteed the outcome will be as we want. Example, God made a covenant with Israel that promised(if they obeyed) supernatural health and wealth, and we have a clear picture of it when the people of Israel come out of Egypt, no one was sick and all had wealth. The covenant Jesus made did not promise wealth and health in this life, it promised something better, eternal life with God. We have examples in the NT of devoted Christians being sick and even dying of that sickness and no one considered it to be unusual. And of course we also had in some cases people being healed. To sum this up, a Christian CAN be healed, however they are not guaranteed a healing. If you want to believe for healings then great, however after you have exercised all the faith you have and the healing does not happen just remember the truth, healing is not guaranteed to Christians, not guaranteed but possible.

Hi stonesoffire
JESUS told some of them why they were sick but Did GOD actually cause anyone to get sick In the new testament?

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from thedead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.Romans 8:11There's something in you that guarantees health. It is the Spirit of Him that raised Jesus up from the dead, the same Person we call the Holy Spirit. He has a mission to supply the virtue for divine health to yourbody. So your body is quickened by Him. He is the same Spirit in the Healing Balm.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son ofGod was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.1 John 3:8

When you know your place in Gods blueprint for your life you would be living a heaven on earth life as God said in Hosea my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge .........It all depends on our faith ...the woman with the issue of blood believed that if she touched Jesus garment she would be healed and she was when Jesus was preaching in a room they opened the roof and lowered the sickman in believing that when jesus prayed on him he would be saved notice that this people took an effort as paul said faith without works is dead they believed and took conscious steps towards it ....Faith is a living word-romans 10;17 faith comes byhearing and hearing by the word of God....Drawn from the living word to produce living proofs..

I don't even consider the idea that healing or help and security in Christ is not for us today. And it's not based on how many godly believers got or didn't get helped or healed. It's based on the Bible and how we are told Jesus healed and helped everyone who came to Him. He IS the Good Shepherd TODAY. He is the same yesterday today and forever.

I believe in healing in the atonement because it's in the Bible. My own minds eye is fallible and able to be distorted to such a degree that my whole life here on this planet can be ruined. And I can take a few people with me too for that matter too. Soooooo important are our words and our actions as believers in this life.

How we trust God for our life is how well our lives will go. And He is not a tyrant who insists on perfect faith but He says that even if it is like a mustard seed! So amazing is His love and grace for us! Just a little tiny mustard seed and He is THERE! That is the gift of grace and truth that Jesus brought.

Thank God for Jesus Who has secured our place in righteousness and peace! Because if it depended on us we would be sick and dead every day. We would be without hope and without joy living out a religious faith that only gives what it sees. Not what it believes for.

We have a much better covenant that those who came out of Egypt. Not one of those Hebrews were sick or feeble and that was before the new covenant. How much more should we who are Holy Spirit filled?!

If we as Christians keep looking all around us at other people and other circumstances including our most recent ones., we will not be healed nor helped. We will only see as far as our limited vision takes us. But in Christ I have seen that He will take you as far as you allow Him. And we can't ever find the limit of Him. And He even says He gives us far and above what we can ask or think.

We are also told to be persistent in faith. OK, so if you are not healed today., keep being persistent and allow Him to heal 10-20-30-32-33-50 fold until He heals to that 100 fold healing. But don't be weary in well doing in faith. Keep on believing no matter what the outside circumstances tell and God rewards that kind of faith in His love. He seeks such to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. By grace through faith is the way to any healing and the biggest most amazing kind of healing is the one where we get saved and made from death to life.
All the other healing is second to that first and most amazing and important.

I do not know. I have my own problems that I haven't solved yet. I tend to believe there are solutions, though.

There isn't a problem that the bible doesn't have an answer to. Unfortunately, instead of turning to the Lord's word, all people want to have are excuses. God offers the solutions, but all they hang onto in return are absolutions for their state of being.

This Is a subject for discussion that I myself would like to know more about.
Sickness, disease, infirmities- are all punishments for sin. HOWEVER, it can effect the innocent. For example, if a pregnant mom has homosexual relations, or contracts AIDS disease by doing drugs, her unborn child could get the disease even though the baby is innocent. But sometimes it's to bring about God's Will. Like Jesus said, when the apostles ask if a blind man sinned or if it was his parent's sin that caused his blindness, He said neither- that he was blind so that witnesses would see Jesus heal him. Sometimes you can go through something for another person's sake.

But the man that lives below me, woe! He is always calling his wife (who works hard to care for him, and never yells back but is always ever so sweet to him) the "B" word. He is always yelling, swearing, taking God's name in vain, and insulting (and laughs when he insults) his wife and children. So many nights he is up crying in pain. He wakes me up sometimes. The ambulance comes, nurses come, I don't know what he has but he's on disability. But I know what he spiritually has- and that it's causing what he physically has.

When they first moved in, and I first heard his cries in pain, I was cut to the heart. I felt so bad for him that I prayed ever so hard for God to take away the cause of his pain. But I see now that it's God Will. It is a warning, an attempt to correct. I'm sure he knows about heaven and hell and that hell is everlasting torment if you disrespect God and His laws. He sure has heard of God- since he mentions his name everyday, but not in prayer like he should.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: [SUP]3 [/SUP]Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:2-3

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Holy name of Lord Jesus Christ. I believe who Jesus is, and what Jesus has done. Lord Jesus, I thank You and praise You, that Your Work is Finished and done. By Grace through Faith I reach out in Christ and Him Crucified to receive the benefits of healing, all sickness and disease in my physical body. Lord you said, "Surely He hath borne our griefs."Over two thousand years ago, Lord, You gave up Your body and was broken for me to receive all Your benefits. I believe it, and I receive it, in the Holy name of Lord Jesus Christ - Amen.

:)But when sickness Is present even If the person did not ask for It,does GOD sometimes send It?

Here's how I've been hearing and learning through Scripture and the Holy Spirit to see this.... satan goes after our minds. God's kingdom is NEVER divided against itself (but) the enemy ALWAYS will be attacking us and always wants us to consider God's kingdom divided against itself as an actual possibility.

And as we know., many Christians find solace in thinking that somehow this evil is sent by God so He can "teach" us. But what happened to the Holy Spirit and His ability to teach us? What happened to the Word of God sent to teach us??

But... if we insist on being taught by our own wacky ideas of who God is He won't force us to believe He is NOT a tyrant who can't make up His mind whether to apply the Blood of Christ to our lives and situations or to instead apply the very sickness and death He sent His Son to defeat with His blood.

So I see a HUGE SIGN at times like that when I'm tempted to even consider God would send sin and sickness and death my way. And the sign says... STOP!!! GO BACK!!!! NOT GOD!!

But since we are weak flesh and blood humans and because we do not always allow the gift of faith to be working in and through us by the Holy Spirit., we can and will in that limited capacity only see the effects of what is going on behind the scenes. So as I'm learning to see each day., I must never try and define God by the limited reasoning of my mind especially during times of tiredness and stress and sickness.

Sin and sickness and death are always at the door while we are here on earth. My choice is; To open that door???? Or by faith keep it tightly shut by the grace given for such times?

There isn't a problem that the bible doesn't have an answer to. Unfortunately, instead of turning to the Lord's word, all people want to have are excuses. God offers the solutions, but all they hang onto in return are absolutions for their state of being.

People can only think and go by what they know and have been taught. That is how we are wired. So we need to ask God for a Holy Spirit washing of our minds. "wash our thinking the way our sins were washed in the blood of Jesus."

I've discovered it's major important to listen to Bible teaching and preaching and fellowship continually for my minds sake. And listening many times over to get truth into my head as my own. It's a "new and living way" These words of life encourage so deeply each and every time I hear them. I find a message about His love and listen to it for hours and days and weeks.

The current message is about when Jesus says "take no thought - saying" What shall we eat? What shall we drink? We will always have thoughts going through our minds but the way we "take thought" is by saying it out and cementing it in our minds and hearts and habits making it our own.

Jesus said Don't worry about tomorrow., don't think and say "what are we gonna do if.....???" Jesus says... "take no thought....saying" That is worry and it is not for us to take thoughts about and say to ourselves. God only gives grace for the day. We don't get grace for tomorrow or next month.

Many of us who have read the Bible for a while and have read and heard messages on how God gave the children of Israel "daily" manna. It got all rotten and stinky the next day so they could not save it and horde it for security purposes. As most of us 'responsible' smart humans would of course seek to do with something that worked today. It's only natural for us to do that right?. We do it with all kinds of things like money or food...etc...

Yet God put the kay-bosh on that when the manna got stinky the next day.
So., they learned to gather it new every day. No manna today to be used for tomorrow or next week.., or next month... only for today.

So today there is enough grace for the now. The sermon on the mount is full of "take no thought saying" admonishments from Jesus.

We are not to squander today living in the future OR living in the past. Regretting the past and wishing we did it differently is a horrible waste. Yesterday....It's GONE. We got to learn to live in the "very" present. So hard for us humans!!!!! The proper healthy way to think is... whatever we did wrong yesterday we're supposed to learn from it., thank God for the Blood of Jesus that cleanses us of our past and gives us a hope and a future in Him.

We can't live in the now and worry about the future. I see that learning to live in the now is actually an art perfected in the Spirit. Worry about tomorrow will not put us in a good state for the next endeavor that comes along if we are not living well today. How can it?? If we can't take grace today., how can we know how to take it tomorrow?

I speak as one who always lived in the future and became - by use., a major procrastinator thinker and doer my whole life. Only now am I beginning to learn to live today in His grace. The old deeeeeply ingrained patterns of living are being scratched out slowly but surely and being replaced by a new and living way. And it is the ONLY way to be happy and joyful in Jesus and in life as a Christian.

But it takes a "learning curve" that some of us (like me) have only now learned how to access. And this learning curve is ours by grace. And we have been given it as a gift to walk in right now. The grace to learn is a gift! Today's grace is a gift to be lived about today so in using it today it will dispel yesterday's sins and sorrows and give hope for a brand new next day because He promises us new grace tomorrow. It keeps washing in our lives like ocean waves over and over. It won't stop unless we are not present to take it. And that would mean we were busy thinking instead of tomorrow or yesterday and not being present today.
