The preacher on the television says that if we just have enough faith, even if we are down to our last dollars, and give to his ministry that not only will all of our needs be met, but we can live abundantly way beyond our immediate needs.
However, The Son of Man (Jesus) didn't have a place to lay His head, People of faith in places like North Korea face jail and maybe even death if they hold fast to their faith, a pastor in Iran is under a death sentence for not recanting his faith, and people of the early church were fed to lions or tortured and killed in other ways for not renouncing their faith.

Those believers have or had more faith then most believers today have put together, especially in America, so how come they aren't or weren’t blessed materially?
</SPAN>

Yes, Jesus did say that if we ask His Father in His name that we will get what we ask for so we can be rewarded financially or in other ways if we do so. However, Jesus also teaches us to pray in this manner, "Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed by Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." So if we don’t honor the Lord our God, if something we ask for does not advance God's kingdom, or it is isn't His will, we are not guaranteed to get what we ask for no matter what the TV preacher says but sometimes God’s answer is no and we don’t know the reason why but he knows best and we don’t as He is God and we are not.

People using scripture not for eternal life, but for money.... a shame that they do not understand the words they speak...

Let us not encourage their worldly desires by rewarding them with money.

Anyone quoting scripture for worldly wealth is truly poor in spirit.

I have to say though they can be very convincing, if you do not understand scripture....

Funny thing is you never see them use this :

23Then said Yeshua unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I called the number on the screen of one of the prosperity preachers' TV programs and was put on hold to wait for the next available customer service representative, amazing that they are called customer service reps and not prayer partners or something similar. But anyway I told her what I said here about the Son of Man not having a place to lay His head, about the terrible persecution of believers with more faith than anyone else and that they aren't or weren't rewarded financially and her response before we parted company was to tell me, "I hope you are saved" despite the fact that I told her I am a believer but that as a believer all we are really guarenteed is a place in heaven. That is hardly a consolation prize though don't you think?

Ph'p:1:12: But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
Ph'p:1:13: So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
Ph'p:1:14: And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Ph'p:1:15: Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Ph'p:1:16: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Ph'p:1:17: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Ph'p:1:18: What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Ph'p:1:19: For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

I guess the staff are deluded also... To the point that they question your Faith for reminding them of the truth...

I think Paul's words in 1Tim.6 applies well regarding this folly:
1Tim.6

[5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.
[7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
[8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
[11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
[12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
