Genesis 13:10 NKJV
[10] And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was
well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and
Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as
you go toward Zoar.

Isaiah 51:3 NKJV
[3] For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the
garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving
and the voice of melody.

Do you think the garden of the Lord above was a reference to Eden. If so then it
seems that information about Eden, would have been passed down across
the generations. Or is it about some other place.

I never noticed before but in looking this up i also found other references to
Eden. It’s interesting to note, as many think Eden was make believe with just
the one reference at the start of Genesis, or that possibly it might be explained
through evolution. But on the other hand an actual garden in existance
with knowledge of it passed down across the ages, gives even more credence
to it.
Might be useful to know for when discussing with non Christians.

Isaiah 51:3 NKJV
[3] For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will
make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy
and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

Ezekiel 31:9 NKJV
[9] I made it beautiful with a multitude of branches, So that all the trees of Eden
envied it, That were in the garden of God.'

Joel 2:3 NKJV
[3] A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is
like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness;
Surely nothing shall escape them.
There are many scriptures which indicate the Middle East will become very green at some point in the future. How this occurs, other scriptures indicate by some large global earthquake that will open many water fissures.

Do you have any examples, I don’t think I’ve heard of that idea before.

At the moment it all seems to be more of war zone.

I never said I believed in evolution, I said other people did. But if the garden of Eden was
part of an evolutionary process then it’s highly doubtful stories of it would have been
passed down the generations, which they clearly were.
I probably do not understand what you mean by Eden being part of an evolutionary process.

Also, I do not know why do you think that the story about Eden was passed down the generations...?

I am in a way agnostic about evolution, but I have no problem with the theory.

He is probably thinking about conditions during the Millennium. The war zone will be established with perfect peace and righteousness, and the fertility of the soil will be unimaginable.

So you don’t think Eden was somewhere on planet Earth, have I got that right or am I
mis reading what you meant?

To be honest that’s never crossed my mind, I’ve always assumed Eden was on Earth
as it mentions its position in reference to 4 great rivers.

Its certainly interesting though that Jesus sought God the Father in a garden during His
last days on earth. Garden of Gethsemena, there is difinately something special
about gardens. Maybe it’s because they are God made rather than man made unlike
temples/buildings. Jesus often seemed to retire to creation, garden areas, the wilderness,
Mount of olives etc.

I know we can shape and design gardens but it’s not quite the same as creating the
plants which go in them. Leave them to their own devices and creation soon takes
over - says me staring at the fallen leaves and weeds. Lol
Somewhat so, in that at that time it was on earth but that they were driven out of it to till the ground from which they were taken,,, Genesis 3:23-24...

Other versions say from which “he” was taken, I believe this is a reference to
Adam made from the dust of the earth, rather than them being taken to and
from planet Earth.

I understand "when the towers fall" to be in reference to the global earthquake in Revelation that shall destroy the great city Babylon the great.

Isaiah 30:25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

I think its one of those areas spoken of when Christ, the Holy Spirit of God spoke, he spoke not without parables hiding the spirutl understanding from natural man .

I view it before God caused corruption and the glory of it was veiled as a place set aside like that of Jerusalem used as a shadow of the new heavens and earth the New Jerusalem prepared as his eternal bride in the eternal land.

A perfect garden set aside in a perfect world for a purpose not seen

Previously all was glory until deceit was found in the heart of the father of lies. . The description of the temporal place was planted eastward in Eden. It leaves no indication where Eden was . The word literally means pleasure .

East is used to represent Christ as the way or door of entering fellowship.

Matthew 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Isaiah 41:2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

It is a picture of the gospel using rivers (living waters) to go out into the four corners of the world (the whole world)

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. Gen 2:8

Eden simply means pleasure as in God who is of one mind always does the good pleasure of His will as he does work in us.

The first river Pison = "increase" helps to remind us he must increase as we decrease. The gold used to represent the believer of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. Bdellium and the onyx stone are part of the breastplate indicating the righteousness of Christ.

Strong’s lexicon...06376 Piyshown {pee-shone'} from 06335;; n prAV - Pison 1; 1 Pison = "increase" 1) one of the four rivers used to describe the location of the garden of Eden

The second river Gihon =bursting forth.. as to the effect of the gospel

Strong’s lexicon...01521 Giychown {ghee-khone'} or (shortened) Gichown {ghee-khone'} from 01518; TWOT - 345a; n pr m AV - Gihon 6; 6Gihon = "bursting forth" 1) one of the four rivers of the Garden of Eden 2) a spring near Jerusalem where the anointing and proclaiming of Solomon as king took place

The third the river Hiddekel = "rapid" speaking of the living water of the word ...when God applies it to our hearts it makes it soft .

Strong’s lexicon...02313 Chiddeqel {khid-deh'-kel} probably of foreign origin;; n pr mAV - Hiddekel 2; 2Hiddekel = "rapid" 1) one of the rivers of Eden which coursed east toward Assyria; better known as the Tigris (the LXX equivalent)

And the fourth Euphrates = "fruitfulness" which bears fruit of the gospel

Strong’s lexicon...06578 P@rath {per-awth'}from an unused root meaning to break forth;; n pr mAV - Euphrates 19; 19 Euphrates = "fruitfulness" 1) the largest and longest river of western Asia; rises from two chief sources in the Armenian mountains and flows into the Persian Gulf

God takes the man he made(from the earth) and puts him in Eden(Genesis 2:15)
which is a "different place" other than the earth (i.e.third heaven/paradise) and
the woman(Eve) was not created/made while Adam/man was in the earth but "after"
he was placed in Eden, paradise, the third heaven ect. (Genesis 2:21-24) so Eve,
the woman was made/created where on earth or in the third heaven?

I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands,
have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

John 3:13 reveals that no man has ascended to heaven except for Jesus Christ.

Do you have any examples, I don’t think I’ve heard of that idea before.
At the moment it all seems to be more of war zone.
The bible says there will be a third temple, but not made by mans hands.
The Eternal has chosen Jerusalem. (1Kings 11:13) And the Lord shall inherit
Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.Zech 2:12

The whole world will revolve around Jerusalem in the Millennium. And
the whole universe will revolve around Jerusalem after the Millennium.
The future temple of which Ezekiel prophesied will have water flowing
out of the altar (Ezekiel 47:1-5). The Fountain of Eternal Life

Ezekiel describes the water flowing eastward from the temple and rising
continually until it becomes a river too large to pass over. This water is a
symbol of something far more powerful that will impact the entire Earth!

God’s Holy Spirit will bring life spiritually (verse 9). Everything will live
as God intended from the beginning. That will impact the entire Earth!

God’s truth will fill the entire world like the ocean beds
are filled with water (Isaiah 11:9; Habakkuk 2:14).

“And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow
all trees for meat … because theirwaters they issued out of the sanctuary: and
the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine” Ezekiel47:12

God’s Holy Spirit will spiritually heal people of human nature and wrongful thinking.
People will also be healed of physical problems, a dual healing, spiritual and physical.

And notice: The water will flow right out of the holy of holies in that millennial temple!
The whole world is going to be healed! “The waters must spring up within the temples
to symbolize the fountain of life that is associated with God’s dwelling in heaven.”

Those waters are a symbol of the fountain of eternal life.

“Ezekiel saw water (spring waters) ushering forth from the holy place that went out
the right side of the altar of burnt offerings and unto the Dead Sea to make those
acrid waters clean and fresh.” There won’t be burnt offerings in Ezekiel’s temple.

“In Gilgal, the first site of the tabernacle in the Holy Land, there were the
springs from Jericho that supplied an abundance of water,”
“When the tabernacle was at Shiloh (from the times of Joshua to Samuel), there was
a natural spring that supplied water to the temple, the city, and the surrounding area.”

Jerusalem only has one fresh water source: the Gihon Spring.

It’s where Zadok anointed Solomon king (1 Kings 1:38-39) Water from the same
spring flowed within the walls of the temples that Solomon and Zerubbabel built.

Josephus wrote , in the tabernacle in the wilderness, the priests in Israel purified
themselves in spring waters. There is always a spring associated with the sanctuary.

David placed the ark of the covenant directly over the Gihon Spring. The ark is a
symbol of God’s throne. The place from which God ruled the Israelites on Earth.

God’s throne on this Earth was right over the Gihon Spring!

“David also made it clear that there was a fountain, or a spring, within the precincts
of the holy temple in heaven, and there was also a fountain (a spring) positioned in
the replica of God’s house in Jerusalem.

David related these things in his psalms, when the ‘house of the Lord’ was reckoned
to be the tent of the ark located at the Gihon Spring. That special sanctuary for the
ark remained at the Gihon for 38 years.”

Psalm 68:24, 26 read, “They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God,
my King, in the sanctuary. … Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from
the fountain of Israel.” God’s sanctuary was by a spring. The blessings came from
the fountain of Israel. That’s where the sanctuary was.

“The earthly symbol for this fountain was the Gihon Spring.”

-
Eusebius Aristeas described the temple before the first coming of Christ: “There is
an inexhaustible reservoir of water, as would be expected from anabundant spring
gushing up naturally from within.” Aristeasstated the Gihon Spring was the only
spring within five miles of Jerusalem. The location of the spring made Jerusalem
the site of the earliest settlement in the area.

Both Aristeas and Tacitus state clearly there was a natural spring within the precincts
of the temple. Accounts and the geographical facts of the area disqualify the Dome of
the Rock as being the site of the temples of Solomon and Zerubbabel.

Isaiah 8:5-6 speak of “the waters of Shiloah that go softly,”meaning water from the Gihon
Spring. This probably is a referenceto the Siloam Channel. It is all a type of God’s Work

Isaiah 12:3 talks about the “water … of the wells of salvation.”The spring is a symbol
of the very salvation of GOD bubbling up from His throne! God is “the fountain of living
waters” (Jeremiah 17:13).

-
the book Ancient Jerusalem Revealed' in it Hillel Giba wrote

“The Gihon does not maintain a constant flow, but is a siphontype karst spring,
fed by groundwater that gushes intermittently through cracks in the cave floor.
The frequency of the outflowvaries with the season of the year and the annual precipitation.

Water from the Gihon could be drawn from either the spring cave or a small pool
cut out in the bedrock close to it.” He continued,

“Three subterranean water supply systems were devised to capture, store, distribute
and protect itswaters. And these three systems are known as Warren’s Shaft,
the Siloam Channel, and Hezekiah’s Tunnel.”

These three systems all brought water from that spring.

Warren’s Shaft is the earliest supply system that enabled Jerusalem’s residents to draw
water without having to leave the fortified confines of the city. They had a lot of enemies.
The Jews needed to make sure they could get to their water. They also would have
needed to bring the water inside for the temple of God.

The Bible records what King Hezekiah did to ensure that Jerusalem’s water supply remained
safe from an Assyrian invasion.2 Kings 20:20 mentions “how he made a pool, and a conduit,
and brought water into the city.” He dug a 1,750-foot tunnel through solid rock to get water!
The full story can be found in 2 Chronicles 32.

“In order to reach the waters of the Gihon from the summit of the Ophel (before building the
temple), Solomon had engineers design and then chisel out of the rock a shaft which led down
to the Gihon Spring. This may or may not be what now is called ‘Warren’s Shaft,’ after the
man who discovered it in the middle of the 19th century.”

Was Warren’s Shaft dug by Solomon’s men? Earlier archaeologists dated the shaft to
the 10th century b.c., the days of Solomon. Whoever dug it carved caves and tunnels
out of the subterranean rock to reach the waters of the Gihon Spring.

Hezekiah directed the water flowing from his tunnel into the Siloam Pool. Unger’s Bible
Dictionary states, “In addition to the tunnel, Hezekiah built a larger reservoir called the
Pool of Siloam. The pool measures about 20 by 30 feet.

-

“In Jesus’s day, the blind man who was healed was directed to go and wash in this pool.”
Christ directed the blind man to the water to be healed (John 9:1-7). This is clearly a
symbol of how this world can remove its blindness with God’s Holy Spirit.

Satan has deceived the whole world. People are blinded and cannot see spiritually.
Only God’s Holy Spirit—typed by water in the Bible—can empower mankind to
enter into God’s Kingdom. Christ was giving the people of His day insight into what
will shortly happen to the whole world.

John 3:13 reveals that no man has ascended to heaven except for Jesus Christ.
This should be interpreted contextually. The Lord is speaking about men ascending up to Heaven in order to understand heavenly things, then returning to earth to tell others what they have seen and heard (v.12). Only the Son of Man -- who was in Heaven -- could come to earth to disclose heavenly things.

However, before the resurrection of Christ, both Enoch and Elijah were taken up to Heaven, but were not allowed to return. Samuel was allowed to come out of Sheol briefly, both then returned to Sheol. Then all the OT saints from Sheol/Hades were taken up to Heaven after the resurrection of Christ, but none were allowed to return. Moses and Elijah met briefly with Christ at the transfiguration, but returned back to Heaven. Paul ascended to Heaven and heard things in Paradise which he was not allowed to share. So we need to keep things in perspective.

The Lord is speaking about men ascending up to Heaven in order to understand heavenly things, then returning to earth to tell others what they have seen and heard (v.12). Only the Son of Man -- who was in Heaven -- could come to earth to disclose heavenly things.

However, before the resurrection of Christ, both Enoch and Elijah were taken up to Heaven,.
That [no man] has [ascended to heaven] except for Jesus Christ.
Here are Jesus' own words that no man, except Himself, had ascended into heaven!

If Elijah went to heaven, how can he wright a letter to King Jehoram
years after this event?

The first heaven consists of the Earth’s atmosphere. The second heaven is
the vast reaches of space beyond the atmosphere.

There is also a third heaven: the home of God. The Apostle Paul saw this “third heaven,”
where God’s throne is, in a vision (ii Cor. 12:1-2). This vision was so intensely realistic
that Paul was unable to tell if he was physically there, or if he was seeing it in his mind.

In Heb. 4:14, the phrase “into the heavens,” should be translated “through the heavens.”
We see that Jesus Christ passed through the first two heavens—Earth’s atmosphere and
outer space—as He ascended to the third heaven.

Certainly many have ascended to the first and second heavens by aircraft, spacecraft and
other means, this verse can only refer to the third heaven, where the Almighty God resides.

Some have said that Elijah ascended to heaven, which he did—but not to the third
heaven. He was taken by chariots of fire up into the first heaven (ii Kings 2:11).
The Hebrew word used for heaven here is the same as in Genesis 2:1.

Elijah did not die during this experience. In fact, Elijah wrote a letter to King Jehoram
years after this event (ii Chron. 21:12). Elijah had been miraculously transported to
another location on Earth.

The Bible states that the dead know nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10; Psalm 146:4).
If Elijah had died, he would not have known all that had happened, much less been
able to pen and post a prophetic letter!
-

Enoch is included by Paul (in Hebrews 11) among the fathers who obtained
a good report through faith; but"these all , having obtained a good report
through faith, received not the promise" (Heb. 11:39). What promise?

The "hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie,
promised before the world began" (Titus 1:2).

-
All the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Not just part of
his days, but all his days! If Enoch did not die - if he were changed to immortality
- and thus continued to walk with God, then his days would have been more than
three hundred and sixty-five years.

But the Bible plainly says that all his days were just that many, and no more!
Enoch and all the worthies of old will receive the promise of eternal life
at the return of Christ, the same time Christians obtain it (Heb. 11:40)

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises."

Paul tells us: Abel, Enoch, Noah, and the patriarchs and their wives. Heb 11:1-12
lists those who had faith and Enoch is included among them. Then in verse 13 Paul
proved that they had not inherited the promises by saying:

"These all [including Enoch] died in faith." But what about Paul's saying that Enoch
"should not see death"? There is more than one death mentioned in the Bible.

There is a first death, and there is a second death (Rev. 20:6).
The first death is appointed unto men (Heb. 9:27). That death cannot
be humanly evaded. It is inevitable, and that death Enoch died.

But Paul was not writing about that death. The phrase "should not see"
is in the conditional tense of the verb, having reference to a future event.

It is not in the past tense, that he "did not see" death - but that he
"should not see death." So this death that Enoch escaped by being
translated is one that he can escape in the future on certain conditions!

In John 8:51 Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never see death" - shall never see - that is, suffer - the second death!
And again in John 11:26, "Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die"
- or "shall not die forever."

The death which Enoch should escape must be the second death which will
never touch those who are in the first resurrection (Rev. 20:6).
And Enoch will be in the first resurrection because he met the conditions!
The second death shall never touch Enoch, because of his faith and obedience.

Enoch had faith. He believed God and walked with God, obeying Him.
Jesus did not speak of Himself, but spoke what the Father commanded Him.

God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony,
that he pleased God."
