you have to admit its a bit out of the blue the bible verses about the herb of the earth. Personally i dont smoke weed because it is easily to get addicted to and addictions are obviously bad and take our concerntration away from God and also God gave me a job where you get fired for being on drugs which i thank him for. but i believe every verse in the bible is there for a reason. including that one. thoughts on it? thoughts from your brain not mindless judgemental dribble please.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

Through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

there is heaps more. i wouldnt have noticed one or two but its a recuring thing. and it doesnt seem like hes against eating them. im not sure im sure God will make this clear in my studies one day. Just thought id see if anybody has a good insight. there are about 1 in 4 replies i get on here that are actualy very helpful and intelligent.

Why do you believe this verse has any bearing on the use of marijuana? Clearly not every herb is actually edible.

'You shall have them for food'. Perhaps a clue in that as far as I am aware, we do not inhale our food? (ok so you can chew too...forgive my attempt at humour :) For me, its a simple answer. I work with people who start out smoking 'socially' and before they know it, it has become a big part of their lives, contributing to mental health issues. I am sure I am now firmly placed in the camp of spouting 'mindless judgemental dribble'. So be it. I expect before you wrote this post, you had very established ideas about 'safe, recreational drug use'. Just as I did...<><

Lol, sorry for being neither helpful nor intelligent. I just wanted to see the exact verses you were talking about.

As far as the herb reference goes, the word "herb" is very wide-ranging, and includes any plant that isn't a tree, as in "herbivore". I don't think it's referring to marijuana at all. Many plants are used for healing, like how we originally got aspirin from willows.

My $.02.

green plants were originally created for human consumption...-but- we also know that the plant kingdom was corrupted by the introduction of sin into the world...

many plants now produce thorns and toxins so that they are no longer suitable for human consumption...marijuana is one of those plants...probably one of the most 'fallen' of all plants...

Being drunk is a sin, being drunk is a way to alter your mind and thinking, changing your perceptions and inhibitions. Smoking pot produces a similar effect. How is one acceptable and the other not, if they both accomplish the same basic reaction?

Also, other effects of being high, gluttony (munchies, excessive eating) and paranoia. Neither attitude is reflective of the mindsets God desires in our lives.

Just because something is 'natural' or 'grows from the earth' doesn't mean its good. Don't see people eating or smoking poison ivy, even though its 'natural' and 'grows from the ground'.

bleach is good for cleaning houses, not for drinking in coolaid.

just like a liver cell is good in the liver but if found in the lungs its consider cancerous and can be deadly.

God made everything for a purpose, men pervert and twists its use to something God never intended for them to be used in the first place.

Isn't rastafari considered another religion/ cultish off-shoot?

Talking about drugs, the bible talks about drugs. The word sorcery in the Greek is pharmakeia. Which is where we get our English word pharmacy or that is to say drugs.
