Ever since Greek thinking began and took over, we have been mixing paganism into our everyday life. Before, days of the week were first day, second day, etc. Then they became Sunday to honor the sun god, Monday to honor the moon goddess, Tues. for Tyr the god of war, Wed. for the Norse god know to Romans as Zeus, Thur. to honor Thor, Fri. for wife of Zeus, Sat. for god Saturn.

The use of the heavens as astronomy uses them was used by Apollo in her worship services. We are not to do that. Read what Paul says about that worship. You are not worshipping Apollo, you are just copying the worship of her.

Do you rely on God with your life and future, or a distant star?
Are you suggesting we should go back to our Hebrew Roots where they worshiped Baal and Remphan instead of Zeus and Saturn.:)

My undergrad degree was in Science, in physical geography. But I had to do a lot of reading, to understand why evolution was wrong, and why creation was right. I believed in creation, but later found out that scientists believe in creation, and I have studied what they have said. Of course, it all has to correspond with the Word of God. I won't tell you I got Outstanding Geography major the year I graduated, because that would be bragging. I did well in Math, too. But I am not into physics. You have to draw the line somewhere! LOL

Redtent, I think astrology is the false belief that the stars influence. Astronomy is the study of the stars, the way God created them and the universe.

If you are a person to worship Baal and Remphan (whoever Remphan is) go ahead. If that is what you want you are dead in your sins, it makes no difference.

There's nothing wrong with studying the planets and the stars in a scientific way (that's astronomy). It's wrong when you use them to do silly things like horoscopes (astrology). If we didn't have astronomy then we would never have visited the moon.

Thanks for catching that! I completely missed I typed the wrong word astronomy instead of the correct astrology. I feel so dumb!!

No, of course I do not worship I wouldn't have time to worship the moon etc....
I would rather spend all my time worshipping Christ.

Although, I am very intrigued by God's creation.
He didn't put us in a cardboard box. He gave us these things for us to enjoy which is simply what I am doing.

From spending so much time on the ocean where the moon has so much influence, and the insecure and occult influenced men that followed the fleet reacted so that a full moon was a dangerous time, so I was convinced that it was fine to follow the stars.

As I get deeper into the word, I am changing my mind. I know most people feel we shouldn't bother to look into those old Gods and their ways to avoid them. Just being sure we love the Lord is enough and we that we know it is not serious. The more I study the more I want to completely avoid them, even if I have been ignorant most of my life of the influence our today's world has from ways of that early worship. Mythology is only devils changing the word of God so it is humanized and made into a lie. I don't think these things are given to us to enjoy.

I think knowing science puts us deeper in the word if we let it explain the word. That is different.

At your age I would have been outraged at any old woman talking like this! Now I feel my life would have run so much better if I had known.

Job 32:31 Canst thou bind the sweet INFLUENCES of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

I totally agree with your assessment of ASTROLOGY and it being false, however, it seems that Pleiades and Orion have INFLUENCE upon SOMETHING. :) Verse 32 also speaks of astronomical anomalies :)

Does the new definition of science measure up? | Science | theguardian.com

" Britain's Science Council has spent the past year working out a new definition of the word 'science'. But how does it measure up to the challenge of intelligent design and creationism?......

Here's what they've come up with:

"Science is the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence." ''

When I read this a while ago I thought of Hebrews 11 :

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. [SUP]2 [/SUP]This is what the ancients were commended for.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

As for science give me a shovel and I can figure out what has to be done with it and how to wrap my hands around the handle but there is no way I can wrap my head around things such as quantum droplets although in times past and still, on occasion, I find sites such as this one interesting - Reasons To Believe : Where Modern Science & Faith Converge .

"When people ask me if a god created the universe, I tell them that the question itself makes no sense. Time didn’t exist before the big bang, so there is no time for god to make the universe in. It’s like asking directions to the edge of the earth; The Earth is a sphere; it doesn’t have an edge; so looking for it is a futile exercise. We are each free to believe what we want, and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is; there is no god. No one created our universe, and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization; There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that I am extremely grateful."

I don't think it is science that is the problem as it is moreso unprovable or outright disproven scientific theories pushed as facts (ie: old earth, spherical earth, big bang non-sense, darwinian evolution, fake CGI pictures of the cosmos, fake artist made renderings of fossilized creatures, etc.)

i have to chuckle when i hear an atheist expressing "gratitude" -- to whom exactly are you grateful? no one at all?
if gratitude has no object, it isn't thankfulness at all; it's only self-satisfied comfort.

Hello friends :)
Just wanted to get your opinion.
Is it weird that I read science magazines and science books even though I believe in God?
Do anyone find it weird? I mean, even the MOST genius scientist believed in God (Einstein)

I'm made from star dust, i'm atoms, like everything in this world, (Water, sunlight, etc)
GOD created these things, and he created the BIG puzzle with Atoms etc too. Right.
Scienctist are usually atheist though, and very arrogant. So perhaps God created science to test people?
Tell me what you think? :)
Nope, it's not weird. I used to work for a nationally published science magazine here in Australia. Everyone else in the office was an atheist, which made life interesting, but the work was fun.

Let me ask you something. How can he say there is no God, when he believes ALL the atoms RANDOMLY just hit together, and 1/3518357178758 billion chances made us? Made life? and our beautiful earth? How can he rely or trust his mind, when it's just created by randomness?
I believe Stephen Hawking is the atheist who looks down on religious people, and think he knows better.
He have no idea what happend 1 second before the big bang.

Maybe he wondered how a loving God could allow him to be confined to a wheelchair and so thought there must be no reason for our existence. Darwin had children who preceded him in death and may also have allowed this to influence his belief in atheism.
