Have you sought the Lord with your whole heart, Robo36? ... hold nothing back ... be open before Him and He will be found

Jeremiah 29:

The best way to understand being Born of the Spirit, is in this way:

It is a deep abiding change within the person, who has received this "New Birth". The old things just don't have the appeal they used to have and the Bible moves front and center of this ones life. Before the new birth, you may not have cared about church or the Bible. You believed heavily in man's philosophy and teachings. You may indeed have found the idea of Scriptural Truth as being foolishness and reading the Bible as boring.

After being "Born Again" and having the Spirit dwell in you, things began to change radically. You know have a thirst and hunger for the the things of God.

Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

You find yourself being pulled to the Holy Scriptures to find answers to questions, you once found in the works of men. The Holy Spirit speaks not of Himself but leads every believer to Christ.

As you continue to study the Scriptures, you no longer find them boring or uninteresting but quickly become aware of the fact, that the Bible is indeed, the Greatest Book ever written. Other changes continue to take place as you learn what God would have you to do, in order to please Him. The Charismatic movement would have you to believe that you are now going to be speaking in tongues (other languages) and have several other bizarre results from the spirit but few or any of things can be contributed to the Holy Spirit today. The primary difference in being in the Spirit or not, is that the believer can track to the day, when everything in their life of former beliefs, got turned upside down.
