Is redemption partly about remembering all our sins and the dark alleys we've travelled to get here.James 4?

The word redeem means that ones debt was paid, And he is thus set free.

Scripture says we are redeemed by the blood of Christ. His death bought our freedom from the penalty of sin.

You are dead on, Abraham put up alters everywhere he went as a reminder of what God had done. Moses named places after the lessons that needed to be learned from what happened there.

when we forget where God has taken us from, it is then that we will fall. when we remember where God has taken us from we have reason to praise Him. and also remember that it is God who gives us strength.

blessings.

I understand. However I really feel that to be forgiven,we as mere humans need to know our sin and not just today's sin but of our life so far. We are imperfect and only human but that's not an excuse. All I'm really saying is that its not wrong to cry for our sins. For yesterday's and today's.please correct me if I'm biblically wrong.

It's ok to continue to remember your sins, as long as you know they were forgiven. Don't dwell on them tho". I think we feel more guilty about past sins after you are saved, but rest assured they are forgiven. No I don't think that redemption/being saved/having salvation is even partly about remembering our sins. We are supposed to have joy & love one another. I agree,no it's not wrong to cry for our sins. It's natural.

Crux:

Forgiveness eternally versus forgiveness daily

One is done and dusted.. the other builds intimacy with Jesus over time.

One is not dependent on the other.

So.. you receive Christ.. this is eternal salvation. This is forgiveness of all sin.. past, present and future. Now why doesn't someone then go out and then do anything they want and wreck havock?

Because of DAILY forgiveness and intimacy with Jesus.. which is the walk saved people can take after being delivered eternally already.

I was born into my biological family. My parents disciplined and rebuked.. but the status of being born into the family could never be undone.

The rebuking and discipline was independent of the birth into the family. Seperate things.

Eternal salvation and daily service are distinct from eachother. Eternal-- unconditional forgiveness for all... daily service.. conditional intimacy with Jesus.
