A living sacrifice to God is one who does not conform, but is transformed.
We are not to be conformed to this world.
The mind is the key to the Christian life. Our thinking must be changed (transformed) from old, ungodly ways of thinking into new, godly ways of thinking.
We must learn to agree with God and his word more than what we think and feel!

Romans 12:1-2King James Version (KJV)
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 2:1-3King James Version (KJV)
2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Ephesians 4:23King James Version (KJV)
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind

Colossians 3:2King James Version (KJV)
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Cool thread to start Ella85, must be reminded of this stuff otherwise the father of lies has a field day!

Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice-Physically move yourself to another space as well as offering that part of you that needs to be exposed to the cross so change can take place. Often people who become new Christians stay in the same place and it can be pretty hard for growth to take place. Older Christians sometimes need to move as well!

Do not conform to the patterns of the world-Seek out what the patterns of the kingdom are. Only way one can do that is by reading the word, look at the Questions of Jesus and place yourself in the company of others who are also running the race. Pray together and alone and be accountable

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind--Learning about your new identity in Christ. On of the most, if not important job of the church or Christian is to understand who they are in Christ. Most never understand and roll on with language that is defeating towards themselves and other believers. Put on the full armour, believe the truths of the bible and work our your salvation on a daily basis. Participate in the process of sanctification, ask god the hard Qs about yourself and how you can grow and don't forget the first two points.

Amen! And all things are possible through Christ which has strengthened me!

Believe in his word! Our Lord is ALWAYS right, He never fails.

The word transformed comes from a Greek word that would come to be known as metamorphose (changing on the outside) because of the inward change that is taking place.....

One more scripture that gives me great hope about the transformation God does in us. (This word is only used 3 times in the Bible - metamorpheo - Romans 12:2, 2 Cor. 3:18 and Matt 17:2 in the transfiguration which is actually the "transformation")

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." 2 Cor. 3:18
