1st off, You have been here a day (or are you an old reg who came back?)

second, You do not know what is going on considering you have only been here a day, so you have no basis for which to judge me, and what I said.

So please. Stop..
I made a comment on a message, not on the whole thread. It only takes a minute to read a message, not even a "whole day" that you seem to be so upset about. I did not judge you because I do not even know you. Perhaps a nerve was hit and it is God speaking to you that causes you to accuse me of judging you. I think it is called "projection". Now you Demand I Stop ? Love is patient and kind? Seeks not its own way?

Who are you to judge "certain people" as being wrong? Satan is known as "the accuser".
One of my favorite sayings is that when you point your finger at yourself the three other fingers on your hand are pointing back at you.
Trust me this message is right on topic as I am willing to bet there are a lot of people who need to repent because they would rather argue against a person than try to understand and agree with them.
Again I ask,

Who did I judge??

You came in accusing, Please either show where I judged, Or stop. (because you do not understand what it was I was trying to say, You can't because again, you have only been here a day)

I was not talking about repentance per say, But about a person and how they treat people..

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matt 5:14

You are the salt of the earth.
Matt 5:13

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Col 4:6

My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
James 3:12

The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.
Acts 21:26

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Cor 7:1

We need to repent and purify ourselves of sin and things that defile us.
Paul did this so should we.

Hi peter!

I was reading Acts the other day and came across that story and had some confusion over why Paul went and did that and also why he had the one man circumcised! The only thing I found was where it says he did it out of deference to the jews...and also that it didn't appear to be his own idea to go to the temple and do this ceremony - the other men said, here is what we want you to do, go to the temple, etc.

Anyway, any thoughts on it would be appreciated by you guys because Paul obviously taught that these things were not necessary, the outward rituals that spoke of the Holy Spirits work in us in Christ...

I don't think I have any outstanding issues/discussions on this thread, so I will leave it to you guys. I will say, and honestly so, that many good points/comments have been made here. Even some of those I may not agree with were well spoken and worthy of consideration.

God bless each of you.

I agree with your assessment. Paul is saying if you want to honour a celebration Amen, if not, Amen.

And yet, you see by the circumcision of the greek man and the purification ceremony and vows, that he deferred to or...out of respect to the jews? did these things at these two times, even while preaching they were not necessary and neither harmed nor helped a man. And in fact, insisted they not be demanded of the gentile believers. I think it was, as he said, becoming like those he tried to help to the gospel in order to save men by it. It's the only thing that makes sense for why he did it - especially the circumcision of his traveling brother who was Greek...

Obviously if I was only here for a day then my comment does not refer to anything before that. My comment only refers to the message that it was in response to. It picks up on the general concepts being expressed and is therefore general in its scope.

How people treat others would be a reflection on whether or not they have repented. For example if you insult a person and then repent, if you then come and respond to a message by calling the person a troll in your first two words, then how sincere is your repentance?

I think Paul was a practical man. Jesus said Render unto Caesar what is Caesars and unto God what is Gods.
Paul said slaves obey your master and be the best worker you can be. And slave masters treat your slaves fairly.
In Romans 13 He says 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. 2Consequently, the one who resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Paul wants people to obey they rules in as much as they can while still obeying the Spirit of God.

I have a simple question for you who think repentance is simply a turning from sin. VVhen you pray to the Lord and tell Him, "Lord I'm sorry for what I've done. I won't do it again, ever. I am so so sorry." are you capable of fulfilling this promise? This oath? Or is it empty? How often have you repented of a particular sin but you continue to repeat it again and again? So then, tell me, what good does your form of repentance serve you when you're still stuck in the same sin over and over again? VVhere is the power in this repentance? VVhat good are the tears, sulking, and show when you are incapable in your flesh to fulfill this promise to God?

That is the way I see your repentance. People have been attacking hyper-grace and saying that its a license to sin (which is false) and also disagreeing with its presentation of repentance ("a change of mind"). Yet, my question is, what good is your repentance? Hasn't history shown the fruit of the traditional concept of repentance? It is void of confidence before the Lord, assurance in salvation, and the love of God (and the grace of God). In some ways it actually completely ignores what Jesus accomplished at the cross. Confession of sin for the sake of forgiveness? Has Christ died in vain? Did not His shed blood give you the remission of your sins?

There is so much more than meets the eye when it comes to repentance. It is tainted with religion and self righteousness. It tries to acknowledge Jesus, but treats His blood as if common. Incapable of doing that which God set out to do. Granting us forgiveness, taking our sins away and justifying us before God. Jesus being able as our High Priest to save us completely. All of this is tossed aside for a concept of repentance that deals with sin confession as if it maintains salvation. That is where people should truly repent. Change your mind about sin confession for forgiveness because it misses the mark that is Christ Jesus on that cross paying for your sins. You are forgiven, it is not something you seek. It is found in Christ.

This could go on for another couple paragraphs to define repentance, but I will keep it short. Repentance happens daily, it is through mind renewal. It is, after all, a change of mind. It is coming into agreement with God (yes, even about your sins) and then coming into the reality that Jesus has set you free from sin because you're a new creation. Also too, under grace sin's dominion is broken. So the accusation of licentiousness (license to sin) is unfounded because people are explicitly stating that we are set free from it and are dead to it. VVe don't ignore sin. VVe turn to God for His strength. VVe repent in that of growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. In Him is victory found.

The false grace teachings DO give people a licence to sin.
But when they are challenged, they say,
"We're not saying that ".
But the truth is, their teachings do say it.

Someone says "The sky is blue..isn't it beautiful?"

.....another person comes and says to this person looking at the beauty in the sky ...and says to them:

"What?....you are a false teacher - the sky is not green...everyone knows it's blue. "

selah.....

Me thinks you missed the point!!!!:) Intentionally I am sure.
Just forget it and leave it be. Anyone can read and see what is really being said in posts. To respond back is most times just an exercise in futility and to occupy us with nonsense. Let them malign to satisfy their flesh and we can just ignore them and we can go on talking about the beauty of our Lord and His marvelous grace and love for us.

It's the false grace teachers that satisfy the flesh, and they admit they don't have to repent, [The Biblical way].

But if they do not repent then they will continue to do the thing that causes them harm.

This is true in all of nature. If we eat spoiled food we get sick. We can be healed or forgiven but if you continue to eat the spoiled food you will continue to get sick.
If we pollute our waters the planet will recycle and re purify the waters, but if we continue to pollute then the water will continue to be polluted.
We need to stop doing that which causes us harm. or repent.

JESUS spoke In parables and people still didn't get It or maybe what It was,was they understood but they just wouldn't accept It.

Nonsense....that is a "construct" of your own mind again.
