I've recently started reading The Book of Psalms - A Translation with Commentary by Robert Alter. I highly recommend this magnificent work. Because of Alter's translation and commentary perspectives, I feel that I have learned more about the Psalms than I had previously realized would be possible.
The credentials of the Author/Editor/Translator, Robert Alter, are awesomely impressive: Professor of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California (Berkeley). Are any of my sisters and brothers here at CC Chat familiar with any of Robert Alter's other literary works - including (among others) The Art of Biblical Poetry and The Wisdom Books (Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastics)?
