Man is made in the image of God and has three parts (1Thes 5:23), a human spirit (pneuma), a human soul (psuche) and a human body (soma). The spirit in man is the candle of the Lord (Prov 20:27). The human spirit is dormant until we are regenerated by mercy through the word and the Holy Spirit who lights up our human spirit when we are saved by God's grace (Titus 3:5, Eccl 3:21, 12:7).

The human soul is who we are and is made up of the mind, the emotions, the will (free volition), the conscience and the conscious capacity that is aware of self or God. The human body is the house for the spirit and the soul and performs all works whether they be in the flesh or through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works with our human spirit through the light of God's word to produce faith and good works. The entrance of God's word gives light to our human spirit (the candle of the Lord) to produce the life of God in our soul to be manifested in and through our body.

The human soul is that part of man that identifies who he is and his relationship to God. The soul is either dead in trespasses and sins and is subject to the flesh or it is redeemed and made alive unto God through the blood of Christ and regeneration so it can be subject to the word and the Holy Spirit. The human body is the expression of what the soul is in subjection to whether it be death through the flesh or life through the word and the Holy Spirit.

At death the human spirit goes back to God who gave it (Eccl 12:7). If the soul has been redeemed and regenerated by the word and the Holy Spirit it will leave the body and be present with the Lord (2Cor 5:8). If the soul has not been redeemed it with be separated from the body and be joined with other souls in a reserved place called hell (geenna).

Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (geenna).

In both cases the body goes into the grave without the spirit and the soul and one will be resurrected unto life and the other at a later time will be resurrected unto condemnation (Jn 5:29). When a person dies their human spirit goes back to God who gave it, their human soul goes to be present with the Lord or goes to hell separated from the presence of God and their human body goes into the grave to wait for its resurrection.
And I saw the SOULS of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God
They had not worshipped the beast oir his image and had not received his mark on their forehedfs or hands
They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended
Rev 20:4&5

This is clearly speaking of the soul. The souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Christ came to life. How could this be if they were already alive with Christ in Heaven?

For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the lst day
John 6:40

The person will be raised up. Not a body bereft of soul

According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud commnd, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first(those who have fallen asleep)
After that we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air
1 Thes 4:15-17
So the dead in Christ are the same as those asleep in Christ. How can this be if the are in Heaven?

Thank you LBG. It warms my heart to know that there is someone out there that can hear the truth, because all I've had is negative feedback and very little back-up from the truth defenders.....But it only makes me stronger as I am not a men pleaser and our Lord sees and hears everything...and he is a witness to his word that we speak in his name.
God bless you too.
Journey

I would say that because you are not a man pleaser and your heart is simply one tht wants to plese God you know the truth you do.
You clearly put the truth of the Bible before man/scholars/theologians/denominations and their teaching. I believe this is a rare thing to find these days.

And because many do not live to primarily please God, and follow the teaching of men they will give you negative feedback. My advice(not easy to do I know!) is to walk away when you have quoted the scripture to show the truth of what you say, otherwise you may become worn down by people whose primary concern is not the plain truth of God's word

God Bless

Excellent points here to consider Red. It's so clear, and it's not LBG's own interpretation, it is the Word of the Lord. I am not siding with the writer, and he is not siding with me for the sake of going against you and all who believe with you, but for the sake of the Word. The Word answers and judges the debate...Not us...The Word is the authority on all matters of truth.

Red, you are correct in saying that the soul goes back to God when we die. That scripture is so clear....it goes back to God because it belongs to him and no one else. God breathes the breath of life into every soul when we are born. We are alive and we breath because of him. He also claims back that breath that he gave us when we die, because it belonged to him in the first place.

No one can die without Gods permission. We as humans try to fight death all the time, not realising it's all in his hands anyway. The only control we have is to not have a spiritual death, for the Word makes us alive,if we feed our spirit with it.

The spirit in us is our soul. We iether have the spirit of God or the spirit of the world in us. We cannot have both. If that spirit in us is the spirit of God then it is that spirit that will change us at the twinkling of an eye.

God is PRESERVING us blameless, the ones with the Spirit of God in them. He keeps our spirit in his capable hands when we die. The spirit doesn't get lost or need to go some-where to wait for the big day, but is preserved. The spirit (soul) does not even know that it's dead, as the dead know nothing. When that spirit is resurrected, whether in the Lord or not, it probably will feel like it's just had a nap or maybe wont even know that it even died. Jesus said "be careful for you do not know when the son of man comes" The judge is at the door when they awake. Jesus also said that "your time is always ready, but my time has not yet come"....He even said to the Jews that the end is near...and that was 2000 years ago. He was talking about their end. End of life, physical death...end of breathing. So when they wake up it will be today, and be ready.

Our reward is still there. We will not miss out. We wont be waiting and waiting and waiting..Spirit world and the dead have no clock.

I hope you will consider these things.
Yours in Christ

The Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,so where is the Lord,in heaven or on Venus or on Saturn. It would seem like they would be in heaven, but not the New Jerusalem, for the heaven they are at will one day melt with fervent heat, and that is because Satan tainted it when he was there.

So you do not believe in a judgement day for all?

Only if you go to Heaven when you die, how can you be judged at a later day? Judgement must have already taken place

And I saw the dead great and small standing before the throne, and books were opened.
Another book was opened which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hades gave up the dead that were in them and each person was judged according to what he had done.
Then death and hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death
In anyones name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire
Rev 20:12-15

surely the book of life would not need to be opened if everyone whose name is in it is aready in Heaven
And how could someone who had been in Heaven for over two thousand years be judged according to what he had done. If he is in Heaven, he must already have been judged

The rich man and Lazarus explains being present with Christ. It does not mean anyone is in Heaven. Christ lives in me and you. So in one sense we are present with Christ now, but not in Heaven

you are very close to the truth .
dont forget this life it self can not die god is the source of life ,as long as god exist the power of life
is there forever, he gives life to the good and the bad, and the animals and plants.
what can die then?? we as living creatures if we live in sin he will blot us out ,from the book of life
but if we live in christ, he will presurve us to the day of resurection and give us a new body.
yes our name is now recorded in heaven everyday our deeds. we are present with the lord if we walke with the lord, dayly we are with the lord, like this minute uor spirit is with the lord untill we backslide,
to babylon, walking away from the lord.... wakeup.

yes to be absent from the will of the flesh (the desires of the flesh) is to be present with the lord.
so always reject the will of the flesh.

someone dies and we hear people say "they are with the Lord in heaven", yet the bible clearly tells us not to say who is where. theres alot we cant fathom as Gods ways are not ours, His thoughts are far higher than ours. We should stick to the bible and follow as directed, as in - not debatable, not to give it any thought as to say who is going where for we just dont know and to think we do is to decieve ourselves and make ourselves judge and jury.

death isnt the same concept as we see it to God, the soul lives for eternity regardless, it is the spiritual death, the total seperation from God for eternity that is the death as first spoken in the garden, "you will surely die"

the point is where??? heaven or hell are the only two final destinations that awaits ones soul, ALIVE not dead for those in hell would surely rather death than eternal torment, fire and brimestone, worms etc for all eternity

This is a good topic, all of you make fair comments but if we look at the whole picture of death, there is asimple statement to consider..... IF YOU DO NOT DIE IN CHRIST, YOU WILL DIE IN SIN!.... Jesus gave the Pharisee a guarentee that they will die in their sin! And he called them children of the Devil. So wehn we look at what Paul said, and how He says it we will understand the death we go trough! Pul says in Galathians 2:20.... I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: ... All who were crucified DIED! So Paul says He died, and only Jesus is alive IN Him!
God says for all who ARE IN CHRIST, is a NEW CREATURE! ALL the old is gone.... It is dead! How do I die in Christ...... To stop sinning! Every sin i die off, I die a little. When I die off the final sin in my life, I AM DEAD!!! And guess what happens next!!!!! I ENTER LIFE IN CHRIST, AND HE ENTERS INTO ME!!!! Christ is REBORN INTO ME! I am already WITH CHRIST... Jesus prayed and said... Father I will that they also, whom Thou has given me, be where I am.....God already placed them where Christ is!!! To be IN Christ is to be IN Christ! And we all know where He is.... Jesus said and gaurentees this.... John 8:51.... Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death..... This death is the second death described in revelation. Jesus always refered to His people as asleep! And when this body dies it only means God removed His Holy Spirit like Jesus did on the cross... And He gave up the Ghost!!!! Or Spirit!!! When IT IS FINISHED, God completed what He wanted to achieve IN MY BODY, i will give up the Ghost... The Holy Ghost becasue my Ghost went up the day i died off my last sin.... God says... Those that died in Christ are HIDDEN in God with Christ!.... Very important this HIDDEN... Becasue that is why the World does not know the Holy People! But they will be REVEALED on the coming of the Son. The will APPEAR with Him in Glory.... Colossians 3: and 4....
Die to sin, that is all we have to do, and do not worry about another death or sleep or anything. When we die off ALL sin in our lives God will occupy our bodies with His Spirit, and He will do as He pleases, this body will again be SEEDED ny God Himself! 1 John 3:9...
9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
God cannot be born into you while you are still alive in sin, but the moment you layed down your last sin, He will be born into youa nd you into HIM!
Enjoy your death my fellow disciples of the Lord Jesus!

yes all the true followers of christ are now this moment present with the lord,
there is a war going on and we are waring against the spirit of the air , against princepalities.
against the will of the flesh . the flesh is allways against the spirit. if we reject the cravings of the ,
flesh we are present with the lord, if we do the will of the flesh, we are not present with the lord.
we are present with the world. so being present with the lord, does not mean , you are in heaven.
we the true followers are now this minute present with the lord untill we start to back slide again,
and doing the lust of the flesh.-----wakeup

Are you saying that we can not have an understanding as to what the following passage of scripture is referring to...

2Cor 5:1-9

1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

IF A PERSON DIES , THE SPIRIT OF LIFE ( THE LIFE FORCE ) GOES BACK TO GOD. HIS BODY IS IN
THE GRAVE, THE ESSENCE OF HIS BEING WILL BE RECORDED IN HEAVEN ,AND THAT WILL BE JUDGED
ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT. HOPE THIS WOULD GIVE YOU A CLEARER UNDERSTANDING.--WAKEUP

1 . A NEW BODY
2 . CLOTHED, ( CLOTHED WITH KNOWLEDGE FROM HEAVEN )
3 . WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE WE ARE NAKED. REV. 3:17.------AND KNOWEST NOT THAT THOU ART,
WRETCHED AND MISARABLE, AND POOR, AND BLIND, AND-----NAKED.
4 . WE NEED TO HAVE OUR CLOTHES ON ( NOT NAKED )
5 . NOW HE WHO MOLDED US, HAS GIVEN US THE SPIRIT.
6 . IF YOU ARE PRESENT IN THE BODY ( DOING WHAT THE FLESH WANTS ) YOU ARE ABSENT FROM
THE LORD.
7 . WE WALKED BY FAITH, NOT BY MIRACLES AND BY WHAT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL .
8 . ABSENT FROM THE BODY ( REJECT THE CRAVINGS OF THE FLESH ) AND BE IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST
9 . WHETHER YOU ARE ABSENT OR PRESENT, LABOUR TO BE ACCEPTED.

WAKEUP.
