Man tends to make salvation so complicated. Ask and believe!

Acts 16: 31“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

The "how" of getting saved:

Romans 10:
9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

It is not complicated at all, since salvation is 100% God's work. This will be manifested in the saved by fruit such as believing the truth (the gospel)- And the gospel is the good news of salvation conditoned on the work of Christ alone, His atoning blood and imputed rightouesness, not in any way, shape or form on the sinner.

Eph.1

[9] Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
[10] That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
[11] In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
[12] That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
[13] In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
[14] Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

People must believe. When a person confesses Jesus as Lord and believes God raised him from the dead, he receives salvation. Not before. God leaves it up to us to choose.

Yes, people must believe, but they do that as caused by the new birth. Faith is not a work, nor is it a condition, it is a fruit of regeneration, the new birth which God gives to the spiritually dead, who are but passive recipients. So, salvation is 100% the work of God and 0% the work of man. God is doing the choosing even. Yes, salvation is 100% conditioned on the work of Christ and 0% conditioned on man. This is what the gospel is all about. And in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed.

John.1

[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
[13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John.15

[15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
[16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Gal.5

[19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Eph.2

[1] And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2] Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
1Pet.3

[21] ...even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

God does not arbitrarily save some and reject others. He made salvation available through Christ to any person who will choose to believe. We do not believe because we are saved, we are saved when we believe.

We are truly saved only when we are delivered from death, pain, sickness, sin and the Devil. Until the "new heavens and the new earth" (Rev 21) are created and I am in it partaking of the Water of Life (Rev 22), then i am saved.

That's what it is to be "delivered", salvation means "deliverance" in Greek.

Why crown yourself as victor when you are still struggling in the arena? Does an athlete claim victory before he defeats all his enemies? The last enemy is death (1 Corinthians 15:26)

3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ(2 Corinthians 11:3).

It was easy for Eve to obey that simple rule, leave the tree alone, but Satan made it hard for her,and she ate it.

It is easy to live for Christ, but some people make it hard for people.

1Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers(Matthew 23:1-4).

There are some Churches that have people jumping through hoops of tradition, that are neither required or profitable.

It is easier to live for Christ, and understand the truth, than some people think, but people will make it hard for you,by telling you things you have to do,that you do not.

When we act on Romans 10:9, we receive holy spirit. We are sealed with it. It is the earnest, the token, the down payment, the guarantee of our salvation. While we may suffer in this life from "death, pain, sickness, sin and the Devil", we are guaranteed we have eternal life, and will absolutely be delivered from all those things at the return of Christ. It's a done deal.

There are a few aspects or salvation.

the first thing we have to deal with is our separation from God. We are separated due to sin. thus we are dead in sin. We must be born again to restore our fellowship with God. Once this is accomplished, we have what God calls eternal life.

the problem is God does not remove the sin nature. nor does he remove us from this earth. We have mission here. that is to proclaim Christ. and show Gods love towards us. Thus we have the second aspect. That is growing in Christ. ultimately leading in the second aspect. That is victory over death. But that victory is assured with the first salvation. the removal of sin debt!

20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you(Luke 17:20-21).

When you receive the Spirit the kingdom of God is within you,and if the kingdom of God is within you, then you belong to the kingdom, then you are saved while on earth.

12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling(Philippians 2:12).

But while we are saved when we receive the Spirit,we are not in heaven yet,and must strive to ensure we stay in the same position of salvation, and grow in Jesus, for we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. The Spirit will not twist our arm to live for Him,so we must make the choice to keep doing right, and allowing the Spirit to lead us.

Eternal salvation is made available through Christ to every man who will choose to believe.
Can one choose to believe on his own?
