I have heard and read what may be different versions of what happened.

With one swipe of his tail. He gathered 1/3 of the Angels with him. So they were not willing? I think not.

I heard a sermon of what was stated!...Satan is such a good liar and deceiver The angels willfully came with him?
That is the version that I believe.

Now for the first time. I heard a Pastor saying! Satan was assigned by God to have control over 1/3 of the angels for doing Gods will. This 1/3 of the angels are the ones that came with him in the fall.

Curious as to what is the scriptural truth is. Why would so many angels leave God?

Lucifer (Satan before he fell) and all the angels had free will. Lucifer fancied himself to be bigger than God. Kind of like how some musicians fancy themselves to be more famous than Michael Jackson..lol..

But I digress. I'm sure Lucifer probably convinced the angels that they also could be higher than God, and since they were all of the same mindset, God kicked them all out of heaven. They chose to rebel against God and were punished for it. Now they are all down in the pits of hell right along with their leader, Lucifer aka Satan.

Satan left because of pride. Maybe the others weren't happy with the position God gave them also.

Satan fought against God's army and lost. He 1/3 of the angels he deceived were tossed out of heaven.

Its in Revelation 12.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, [SUP]8 [/SUP]but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[SUP][a][/SUP] in heaven any longer. [SUP]9 [/SUP]So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Luke 10:18
And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Satan and his angels are roaming the earth seeking whom they can deceive and devour. They are trying to lead as many people astray as possible.

He was prideful, yes indeed, but he did'nt leave on his own steam. God booted him and the angels out of heaven and down to hell. Pride, greed and envy were what got them kicked out.

My own reading is that this war in Heaven is yet future. At present, Satan continues to have access to the throne where he accuses us. I see a huge war in Heaven just prior to Christ's return to earth to set up His millennial kingdom.

I worded that poorly. I didn't mean he left Heaven. I meant he left his first love. As for being kicked out of Heaven, Jesus said:

I beheld satan as lightening fall from Heaven. Lk.10: 18

Then Jesus said:
Now is the judgment of this*world: now shall the*prince*of this*worldbe*cast*out. Jn.12:31

Did He mean He saw the devil cast out of Heaven prophetically and now the time had actually come?

I always just read the tenses of the verbs and took it to mean Jesus SAW Satan kicked out: as in past tense.

Jesus used future tense verbs in scripture.

Example: "
Matthew 26:31
Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

Personally I believe that if Jesus meant that Satan "will be" cast out of heaven, he would have said it and the writers would have recorded it in future tense.

We know that Satan got cast down BEFORE Jesus was even born, because he was the serpent in the garden of Eden. Jesus was God in human form, so would'nt it make sense that Jesus as God in heaven, saw Satan get cast down? What I mean is I don't think Jesus was here on earth and looked up and saw him cast down. And as God, Jesus himself cast Satan down. And ever since he was cast down this world has been under judgment.

I hope this makes sense and does'nt confuse anybody. LOL. :) This is only my opinion. It may not be necessarily what actually happened. :)

You are absolutely correct! Satan occupy the first & second heavens after being kicked out of God's Heaven, which is called the Third Heaven.

It is believed that when Jesus decides to call His Church home, Satan and his dragons were preventing the Church to pass through the first & second heavens in order to reach God's Third Heaven. This is when the battle for the air space prevails.

Satan & his dragons lost the battle of the heavens and are kicked out of their homes (first & second heavens) and to their new home called earth. This will be a great part of the Tribulation Hour because Satan knows he had a short time to create havoc before the Lord bounds him to the pit.

I know/believe 1/3 of the Angels choose to follow Satan. And then were cast down with Satan to this world.

Revelation 12:4 This is one I am curious about. This passage looks as if 1/3 of the Angels/Stars were forced to this world.
Interesting choice of words.

Thanks everybody for there replays.

Basically they WERE "forced to this world." God banished them out of heaven. :) After Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels rebelled against him.

Jer 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. Jer 4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. Jer 4:25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. Jer 4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. Jer 4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
The earth is left desolate. There is no man nor bird, the earth and its cities are broken down. But Jehovah does not make a full end. This has yet to be fulfilled. This will happen during the 1000 years.

There is a school that claim this happened in the old world when the angels, led by Satan, ruled the earth. The terms "form and void" really means chaos and confusion according to them. This school claims that there was a war of the worlds and Satan and 1/3 of all the angels lost that war and Michael and his angels almost totally destroyed the earth. The King of Tyre was Satan and he was over the cities. They claim this is why so many ancient civilizations have been uncovered.

I listen to a lot of Christian radio. Mostly CSN. Lots of Sermons from Pastors all over the USA and overseas at times.
Personal testimonials from Pastors. Mission groups that go into 3rd world countries, etc.

Christian radio is awesome. It can keep one in the word 24/7 if they wish.
It also keeps us from looking at Christianity through the box of our one single local Church and that pastors knowledge and perspective on the scriptures.

There are actually Muslims having dreams of Jesus, and then Converting to Christianity in the middle east now.
Many of the Christians that were chased off by ISIS are gathering together in worship. ISIS put a number 6 or 9 on there houses to mark them for death.
These Christians are now taking that number and turning it upside down on flag poles to mock ISIS. These Christians are not defeated by the evil that they are facing.

Satan seduced 1/3 of the angels.
He wanted to be above God.

We must follow the example of Jesus:

Philippenses 2:

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. {fashion: or habit}
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of {things} in heaven, and {things} in earth, and {things} under the earth;
11 And {that} every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ {is} Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Satan fell from heaven as punishment for sin, and a third of the angels fell also because they sided with satan- they were his army.

[FONT=Trebuchet, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rev 12 7 "Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back." [/FONT]

[FONT=Trebuchet, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]These angels fought against God- they were not innocently swept away by satan- just as satan was not innocent. [/FONT]

The war is already on and has been for a long time. When Daniel prayed it took the angel 21 days to reach him with an answer. This is evidence that there is a war ragging that we are not aware of.

Satan is the great deceiver. He deceived 1/3 of the angels and they turned away from God to follow Satan. When the Bible describes Satan’s character it is said that he is like a roaring lion. A roaring lion is not a hunting lion but he is marking his territory and making a statement. He is telling everybody that this is his territory and he is challenging the other lions if they dare.

Satan will always twist the scripture 180 degrees away from the will of God. If you look at the garden of Eden, he used the snake to beguile Eve, and Eve her husband. The order that was given to man in the garden was that man should be the head of the house, then the woman and they should rule over the animals (no children as yet). 180 degrees against Satan’s plan

Where did this notion come from that Satan has a tail? Presumably in body structure the Devil is like that of every other angel? But note that "In Greek mythology, Nike... was a goddess who personified victory, also known as the Winged Goddess of Victory. The Roman equivalent was Victoria" (Wikpedia:Nike (mythology) ). The iconography of Christian angels appears to come from paganism.
