It was a question. The question was:
Is teaching people that they have to obey Christ's commandments self-righteous?
I don't think your teaching anyone anything...you already shown that you have problems being honest.

You are dodging the questions.

Teach us, fulfill the commission that Christ tells us to do...
What are His commandments that I need to obey?

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

No trying to stay on topic...are you obeying Christ to be justified or because your acting in faith from being justified?

Nobody can be justified by their actions before God, almost every Christian in the world knows this. That is why we need Christ. We obey Him because we love Him.

Ok so your not doing these things to be justified, but because you are ...that's faith !

I would not say most know this. but all should know it!

The flesh loves rules. Because that is what you do and not what God did.

No...its clear what Paul was speaking to Timothy about , he mentions HIS DOCTRINE again and again and the fact that timothy would have had access to all Pauls epistles and this was clearly at the end of Pauls ministry in context of what he is saying in the epistle...att all his letters would have been known and read even from timothys youth...and Paul makes clear to what end the study of these scriptures will produce...salvation through faith in Chirst...so in no way could any suppose Paul is telling timothy to seek salvation through the works of the law.. That's silly and would require one to ignore the rest of the New testament.
Question: In what year was Timothy born? You don't have to settle on a single year, but at least give a general range for when it is commonly thought he was born.

Well what we know is he was young and Pauls ministry was about thirty years or so... we also know that his mother raised him to know Christ... so not sure but probably could figure it out....whats your point? If his mother taught him Christ that means he would have been familiar with the Christian writings of that time.

Why did Paul say the following?

Carry each others burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ Gal6:2

I disagree with the OP, Self righteousness does not feel good, there is no rest in it, no true Joy and constant fear of being caught out. That and the guilt before God.

Well your talking about the part where they feel they fail, for those honest enough to admit they fail. But the part where they get to boast and feel better than others is the part that makes them become more and more unlike a true Christian.

Boasting that your better than others is just a cover up to try and make themselves feel better but in never works in the end it just leads to bitterness and emptiness inside.

I remember the Apostle Paul speaking about righteousness in a different way, but like a two-way snare that leads some to a man as being more blessed than others. The subtle eye opener came when Paul said that any man who believes he is something, is nothing at all. To me, it was a little disappointing at first, not to have someone to look up to. It seemed counter intuitive. So I turned my eyes, ears and heart towards our Lord Jesus, and never looked back. Only then did I come to understand the Gift of Christ is not given more to one than another.
