"Water" is used as a metaphor for the Word of God -- the Gospel. See 1 Peter 1:23-25. There is no such thing as baptismal regeneration. But you simply cannot believe that the Bible says that we are saved by grace through faith. That would be too simple.

The full picture will never be seen by those who refuse to accept all scripture. The word consists of many pieces that require examination and proper placement for the entire truth to come into focus. 1 Peter 1:23-25 proves that point.

It is interesting that you chose to ignore what followed my comments after the sentence you quoted: Jesus Himself stated that everyone must be reborn of water and Spirit in order to enter the kingdom of God. And, He also said that whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved. Further He commanded those who had already been born again to teach all nations, baptize them, and teach them to observe all things He had commanded them. These are the facts.

the use of 'we, us, our, et all are personal pronouns......in the bible they signify those who are in Christ
the use of 'they, them, their, et all are impersonal pronouns ...in the bible they indicate those NOT in Christ.

Just so ya know
