[h=3]Matthew 5[/h]King James Version (KJV)

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Nope, But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Who knows that person you call fool might just turn out to be your brother.

It's pretty easy to not call someone a fool. So the answer would be no christians should not.

......difference between "calling" someone a fool, and comparing them/their actions to those of a "fool." Just saying......

I wouldn't say......."You....are surely a fool!"

However, I would say........"Hey brother, that was a foolish thing to do."

To me there is a difference...........but, now, that may just be me...... :) and I have done a "foolish" thing or three in my life.

Luke 24:25, "Then He said to them: O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!"

453 anoétos: not understanding
Original Word: ἀνόητος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: anoétos
Phonetic Spelling: (an-o'-ay-tos)
Short Definition: foolish, thoughtless
Definition: foolish, thoughtless.

Here is a prophecy I think people who read the Scriptures are fools not to believe:

Isayah 24:1-6, "Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty and makes it waste, perverts the face of it and scatters abroad its inhabitants; And it will be: as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his owner; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with him who takes usury, so with him who gives usury to him: The land will be utterly emptied and utterly plundered, for Yahweh has spoken this word. The earth mourns and fades away, the world mourns and fades away, and the haughty people of the earth alanguish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants of it, because they have transgressed the Laws, changed the ordinance, and broken the everlasting covenant. Because of this, the curse has devoured the earth, and they who dwell therein are desolate; therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left."

To disdain someone, to relegate them to complete uselessness is violating the sixth Commandment and carries with it the death sentence...

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

And unless repented of and forgiven, the death sentence will be carried out.

Difference between Jesus telling someone they don't understand, and someone telling another they are a worthless piece of garbage.
We are not to do the latter, even in our heart.
And the danger of hell-fire that comes with it, is when that person pulls your child out of a burning building and hands her to you and you eat your words in tears right in front of him, not knowing whether he forgives you, doesn't remember, or is far above either and risked his life for any random person when duty called.

Boo-yow, FIRE

Example: I used to think volunteer firemen were worthless goofballs until my friend became one and started saving people's lives.
Then I was set on fire in my heart and repented.

Seems that for every pearl of truth, there are a thousand distortions of it at this time. I guess for the most part, if one can at least have faith/hope in Christ, that most of the battle is already over.

If one is truly content with their faith in Getting Over Death (GOD) in and through Christ/Messiah, then really, who is anybody to judge them and tell them that they are wrong? A nobody that's who would say such a thing to Anybody.

I lost that faith/hope/belief at one point in my life, and the last thing I was looking for was another church/religion.

In less than 1 day, I started to hear what Our Father had to say about Christ/Messiah; (OT with understanding)well since then, I not only have a faith that is stronger than the 42 years that I took it for granted, but still grows everyday more and more, to the point that it doesn't even feel like faith anymore; Because though I was frustrated and confused to the point of throwing that faith away; well now that I have heard Our Father explanation, everything is so clear and obvious; and unfortunately very sad, for a while yet.

It is a 2 way street at this time though; If one has heard The Father out and understands the parables, then who is anybody that has faith/hope/belief in Christ the Son, to judge or tell them that they are wrong?

The Whole Bible IS the Plan of Getting Over Death (GOD) in and through Christ.

I mean really; in the 1st Day Get Over Death Almighty created The LIGHT! that IS The Plan. what other light could it possibly be? Christ stated quite clearly; I am the Way, the Truth and the Light!

Anyways, to sum it all up; I believe that this teaching is about attacking ANYBODY"S Faith in Christ, my real flesh brothers in my family, and tons of other families that I have been around, have called each other fools hundreds of times lol; but we still all love each other.;)

I was recently introduced to the Mounce's reverse intralinear translation and as one who has an interest in the original language and nuances of scriptures, but is not fluent in them - Mounce's is awesome. Here's the chapter in question: Matthew 5 MOUNCE - And seeing the crowds, Jesus went up on - Bible Gateway
I'm noticing the words in question are:
"empty headed"
[h=2]ῥακά (rhaka)[/h]Strong: G4469
GK: G4819
raca, an Aramaic term of bitter contempt, worthless fellow, fool, Mt. 5:22
See everywhere rhaka appears in the New Testament via teknia.com.

and

"you fool"
[h=2]μωρός (mōros)[/h]Strong: G3474
GK: G3704
pr. dull; foolish, Mt. 7:26; 23:17; 25:2f., 8; 1 Cor. 1:25, 27; 3:18; 4:10; 2 Tim. 2:23; Tit. 3:9; from the Hebrew, a fool in senseless wickedness, Mt. 5:22
See everywhere mōros appears in the New Testament via teknia.com.

It seems to me that the difference is one of nuance: rhaka being insulting, but moros being judgemental. There seems to be a Kingdom principle involving being treated as we do to others:
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Judge not let ye yourselves be judged.
Love your neighbour as yourself.

What judgement might we make on another that might so jeopardise our salvation?
Perhaps calling someone unsaved when in fact they ARE in Christ, and thereby declared clean by God. It would be in effect calling God a liar - and I believe that would be blasphemy.
Anyway - if we Loved people the way Yahshua told us to, we wouldn't be looking for people to judge in that manner.

Galatians,3
3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

[SUP]2 [/SUP]This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

it's foolish not to recognize a fool,
and unwise to tell one that he is.

it's unwise to hold your tongue
and let a fool go on being foolish.

Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.

Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.

Psalm 94

King James Version (KJV)

94 O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

[SUP]2 [/SUP]Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
[SUP]5 [/SUP]They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thine heritage.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
