Sure if they want, they shouldn't obsess over their outward appearance but makeup isn't evil in itself. Personally I like my wife wearing little to no makeup, never got the whole makeup thing. Think it makes women look weird.

"Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." (1 Pet 3:3, 4)

If this is the principle concerning the choice of jewelery, clothing and grooming, then make-up should reflect the same attitude. It should not make a woman look artificial, nor draw undue attention for the wrong reasons.
That makes sense to me.

How come a guy is asking this question? Shouldnæ't you worry more about what you should do or not do yourself? ;)

I personally don't get the point of make- up, as I think people look better without.

It is said of Jezebel that she painted her face, this was not the practice of Hebrew Women, and it seems that this type adornment has always been of Pagan practice. Why alter what God has given?

Pants on a Woman is a shame, for a woman shall not wear that which PERTAINS to a man, neither shall a man wear that which PERTAINS to a Woman, for ALL that do such are an.... Unto the Lord their God.

I do not believe so, based on the verses (and others) Molly posted. 1 Peter 3:3-4. I won't be able to change the "beauty habits" of women any time soon though. That would require a mighty work of the
Holy Spirit.

I have a question back at the OP: Should men dress up in suits to impress their peers? Would this not be much the same?

I think they should be able to "make up" good stirfry.
And if they brought that to church id think that was great.

I don't think it matters, its like whether you should have long hair or not, its up to the custom of the local church and does not pertain to salvation but if people make it into a law or requirement for salvation. then it becomes legalism.

anyway they say it better:

Does the Bible teach it is wrong for women to wear makeup? - Bible FAQ | United Church of God

The modest use of makeup by women is culturally acceptable in the Western world at this time, and does not conflict with the teaching of the Bible.
This subject comes under the general topic of personal grooming. Perhaps the clearest statements in the Bible on a Christian woman's personal grooming are in 1 Peter 3:3-4

and 1 Timothy 2:9-10

. Both references counsel women to concentrate upon the "grooming" of their inner character in a way that is pleasing to God, in contrast to placing undue emphasis on their outward appearance.
Personal grooming can and often does reflect one's attitude, as we see amply demonstrated in everyday life. It's easy to spot people—men and women alike—who want to "make a statement" of rebellion through grooming that is against the accepted norm. Grooming that makes a woman stand out as odd or different from culturally accepted norms of good taste detracts from a godly emphasis on her inner character. Such indiscretion—in stark contrast to the above scriptural guidelines—characterized the rebellious "daughters of Zion" mentioned in Isaiah 3:16
.

_______-
Ms. Ana states what I was going to say, mentioning 1 Timothy 2: 9-10
__________
9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, [a]modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, 10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

__________
I think it is important to note that 'modesty' and 'godliness' go hand in hand, ladies . Personally, IF a girl arrives at church and is wearing revealing attire, then I quickly tire, the Spirit-leading, of even remotely thinking it is a good idea to strike up a conversation. And, IF I am attracted to her, 'Fleeeee,' comes to mind :D

Different times of year offer different leniencies on your garb, of course, but midriffs and skirts above mid-thigh do not go over well with me, at all, in the winter time, and, I would just listen to the Lord for His direction, He leads you. Us, too :) Proverbs 16:9

'Course, Proverbs 31 is good for you all too, my pretties :)

I guess all this said, maybe you all see now why I'm still single :D

it is definitly not a sin. i do not believe jezebel was wicked because of makeup. people who mention jezebel are missing the point. jezebel had the prophets killed. it had nothing to do with her makeup. i have alot of respect for holiness pentecostals but i was lied to by them. they said the bible says not to wear makeup like jezebel. that is a lie. the bible never says that. makeup is never mentioned as a sin so have at it ladies.

OFM, you also started a thread asking whether we should go to church on saturday or sunday

- What do you think God requires of you? that you do what other christians deem correct? or that you follow His law and do it in love?

I personally don't wear makeup at all, but I don't think it matters to God whether or not one wears make-up. It certainly isn't a sin. I think one should think about why they are wearing make-up. Is it for them or others? Is it to draw attention to themselves? Church is about God and if you purposefully dress/wear makeup or even say things to take the attention away from the Lord, then it would be wrong.

Just make sure your number one priority isn't on your outward appearance, it should be on what exist inwardly. Everything in moderation.

I want all woman to come to church...that being a true healthy church thats teaching a law/gospel
message where the woman can be fed. Then what she does will be right from her heart to her Lord.
Im in the world daily....and take no thought to any special expectations in the church any more than
Jesus did where He went. If a woman hasnt a heart for the Lord. Theres a bigger issue here
than her makeup.
