Esther 4:14 reads: [Mordecai talking to Esther] For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?’

This is the one passage in Esther where I feel like someone is in touch with God. Mordecai believes that the Jews will be saved, and that the only question is who will save them.

I see no reason to doubt that the Book of Esther is a true account of an episode in the history of the Jewish people. Nevertheless I am not sure that that alone justifies its inclusion in The Bible.

I still think it ought to mention God at least once. To put it another way, what exactly do I learn about God from this book?
You are to learn that He keeps and protects His people. In this instance the Jews are kept from extermination, which had been the plan, and that Esther was used by God to protect the Jews and therefore the bloodline from which Christ would come from.

Haman is a picture of the evil religious leadership, Mordecai is Christ. The two fall out. Mordecai is slung out.

Esther is the Church. Esther redeems Jewry from the clutches of the evil religious leaders.

Awesome story. My favourite just about.
