CHAPTER 1
1 The Thessalonians are given to understand both how mindful of them Saint Paul was at all times in thanksgiving, and prayer: 5 and also how well he was persuaded of the truth and sincerity of their faith, and conversion to God.


Read 1thess 1:1-5
1. How many names are mentioned in verse one?

• Paul was clearly the primary author of the letter (2:18; 3:5; 5:27) but shared the stage in his ministry.

2. How often did Paul, Silvanus and Timothy give thanks in their prayers in Vs2?

• Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

3. Why is it important to pray without ceasing not only for our self but for others?

• The Thessalonians where under much affliction and needed to stay sober and vigilant 1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (KJV)

4. How often did they make mention of them in pray Vs3?

• Remembering without ceasing Paul said. 1Th 5:17 says: Pray without ceasing. Also read (Luke 11:5-8)

5. (Trick question) Witch fruits of the spirit are mentioned here in Vs3?

(Answer: The word fruit of the spirit is never plural it is always in the singular.)

6. In verse 4 what did they know?

• Knowing their election by God. Do you know of your election of God? 2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

• With joy of the Holy Spirit

3. What happen after receiving the word in much affliction in joy of the Holy Spirit Vs7?

• They became examples.

4. Vs.7 was it both believers and nonbelievers that they became examples to?

• The text says they were examples to believes but this chapter also talks about them not worshiping idols anymore which is an examples to nonbeliever’s as well based on the fact those people would not see them worshiping other gods any longer.

5. Vs8. How far did their example reach?

• Every place

6. Vs8. Did Paul have to explain to others what was happening in Thessalonica?

• Paul nor did any of them have to say anything.

7. What did they serve before the one true God?

• Idols

8. VS10. What did it save them from?

• Wrath to come
