this is not a thread to boast evil deeds or thoughts, but a reminder of God's Grace and Mercy for being His.


at the end of a day, while praying or thinking about God, have you ever just sat back and relived the day and recounted the SINS you've committed?

maybe, they were just thoughts, maybe things you said that you could have been nicer and more Godly, maybe you got mad and wanted to hurt someone or thought about suing them, maybe you went to the store and people said things about you and it hurt you to the point you wanted revenge, it could be so many ways we sin throughout any given day [Gossip-Lying-Cheating-etc].

i say the Lord's Prayer every night and always spend much time when i get to the portion about [[Forgive me of MY SINS as I FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE SINNED AGAINST ME]]. it's here i actually stop praying and trying to remember the SINS i committed + the sins committed against me i need to forgive.

after taking the whole day into a bigger viewpoint, i am at a lost at how can i even be Saved?
knowing what i did that day, how can God keep forgiving me?
i am a horrible person, very unrighteous, as filthy rags!

it makes me feel so Guilty knowing that saying, "I am Sorry God Please Forgive Me," He does, because tomorrow could be worse than today and i will ask for Forgiveness again. i know every day of my life until i die or am taken from this world i will be Seeking Forgiveness of each day's SINS.

and knowing how horrible i am, how guilty i am, how despicable i am, God is Faithful to Forgive me.


i believing thinking about my SINS helps me to see just how Special God is to me.
i know, even though I will SIN again, i have Comfort and Peace knowing God is going to Forgive me.
i could talk about His Miracles, Blessings, Wonderful things that have benefited my life. but the knowing of how wretched a Sinner that i am and He is going to Forgive me is the Beauty and Awesomeness i see most in God.


i just want this thread to be a reminder for all of us just How Great and Merciful Our God is!

Of course, I think about sin confession as often as necessary. Sometimes I'm not really sure what a sin is, though, because sins are typically transgressions of the law which I'm not bound to. I typically confess anything that I feel guilty about, anything I think was wrong, or bad in some way.

What I see in the New Testament is there are generally guideliness of things to avoid, but rarely any specific sins mentioned. If you haven't looked then check you'll see what I am talking about. If we're talking about the first and greatest commandment of loving God with all we have then technically we should be reptening every second of every day and night. Who can honestly say they love God with all of their heart, mind, strength, and soul?

Also, what do you believe happens if we sinned and forgot to confess it to God? It's always an interesting question to see what people come up with because it challenges people to think if sin forgiveness is dependent on confession or is it continuously provided via God's grace accessed by faith?

I truly appreciate the sentiments you have shared. I believe every true believer is brought to this place of brokenness to humble us but also that we might see in more vivid detail all that Jesus did for us at the cross. Understanding just how many sins He paid for us causes our affections for Him to deepen...those who are forgiven much, love much.
You might well be blessed also at the incredible love expressed by God to His people in Isaiah 49. Having prophesied their redemption they still believe the Lord has forsaken them. But, rather than chastening them, He gently reasons with them how He has demonstrated His great love for them(v14-26).
I guess what I most enjoyed in your post was sense of awe towards God. May He ever be more and more amazing to you.

Exactly. Like I said, those alleged sins come down to opinions because there are very few examples of sins in the New Testament. It's mostly just a lot of guidelines.

Yes and no. Some of the things that are sins in the New Testament are only sins if they meet a specific criteria such as what kind of knowledge one has or what isn't of faith. So what is a sin to you possibily isn't a sin to me. However, we are told to be mindful of those weaker in the faith who don't fully realize their liberty. Again, more guidelines.

Right. I understand. How do we know someone is weaker? The Holy Spirit communicates that to you. It may come out in conversation or it may come to your mind as the Holy Spirit makes you directly aware, or it may not be understood by you at some future time after you have already sinned.
God saved us that we might live in an intimate relationship with Him. This is what was lost through sin. God, before sin, walked each day with Adam and Eve. The first thing about sins is....

"ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3
"For the wages of sin is death.". Romans 6:23

This leads to the point of, What is that death because everyone dies sooner or later.

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

What I was attempting to tell you in a roundabout way is that as we grow in intimacy with God He will communicate more and more of Himself to us. We will more and more retain Him in our thoughts and more and more communicate with Him and He with us.
The reason He doesn't just give us a list of do's and don'ts is because we would walk by sight and not by faith. This way we are forced to walk by faith; thus, pleasing Him. We have no choice but to live in dependence upon Him.
