No matter what, no matter who you are, God loves you very much and we can cast our anxieties on Him (1st Peter 5:7) He is our Father and because he loves us as he does, let us love as he loves us and be ever mindful of that with every action we make.

This is so offensive to our pride that it makes it retch at how humble we have to be to do it, but I praise God that our prides are destroyed by that which is God's mercy and love! Anyway, that's a verse that has been on my mind lately "cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you." Once we do that, it frees us up to so much more that he can offer us without us being hindered.
there's so many little things we are anxious about and one night someone showed me that verse cause i was asking for ones to read and i almost cried. even the anxieties for the smallest things in our life, we can call out to him like a father, abba, and cast it at his throne and trust him with it, even when things look bad.

Actually, I see two issues here—pride and faith. I guess you are suggesting there is a connection: We need to humble ourselves in order to have complete faith.

Whether they are connected or not, we need to have faith in the Lord, and we need to humble ourselves, I guess.

How does our pride manifest itself? You always hear me complaining about social climbing. I recently heard someone complain about boasting. Power-mongering would be another manifestation. Perhaps pride manifests itself in lots of ways.

Sure they are connected. Having complete faith in God means we have to let go that part of ourself that has faith in ourselves, our pride.

Love you guys.

i think theres so many things you could find to see if you're prideful. Refusing to accept help of any form from God and, shoot, even people is good sign. We want our way to be our truth and our light, but Jesus said those were all of Him. When we refuse God's way, especially when we know it's the right way, pride is made very apparent.

This is something I've been dealing with lately. I've been wrestling with God to the death about some issues in my life and finally I just gave up. All other ways of life I've tried are so hollow, but I know that God's ways are the best and i cannot replace them. That wrestling was a part of my pride trying to fight God, but we can't let it control us.

I'm sure someone else can say it in a much more succinct and summarized way than I can!

EDIT: even another aspect that Oswald Chambers talks about, is that we try to sound "humble" by saying "humble" things like "God can;t make me a saint, I'm too sinful" is another form of pride. We've set up our sins to such a high place that God cannot reach us and make us saintly. These things sound good to people, but to God they are an insult that he can't work with us. Consequently, because of those pseudo-humble statements, we keep God at an arms length from changing us into the saint he wants us to be. if we really humble ourselves we will accept God's term's that he can make us holy like He is holy then it will happen because we allow him to mold us. We won't be prideful about it because if we acknowledge that it was through His work and not ours we will have nothing to boast about.

C.S. Lewis put it nicely when he said the humble person isn't the person who things poorly of himself, but rather the one who doesn't think much about it at all.

I think in our own way we are all guilty of pride. Its the #1 sin. By that I mean the sin committed the most. Because everything we do is centered on pride. Self love it was Lucifers downfall and in essence the downfall of all humanity.

Even with Adam and Eve, my wants above Gods direction. Mine, My, I, Me, all these things, point to self love, vanity, and pride.

If we can all begin to see that by compleatly humbleing ourselves before God, that by doing this is to be filled with his presance.
It is not just to be brought down, but to be lifted up by God Our Father, and to know a love and joy so great that you ask yourself what the fuss of pride was all about.
I say that humility is a gift from God!
All is glorified in him when given to him!
God bless, pickles
