Father in heaven, many of us are stunned as we're made aware of the different tragedies that take place every day as we journey through this adventure called life on earth. And as believers in Jesus, we're so grateful we have you as our rock and our hiding place, as well as each other to pray for and with each other, sharing both joys and sorrows. But sometimes, Lord, things hit too close to home, and we struggle to find the words adequate to comfort one another, and this is where having you as our loving heavenly Father becomes so much more dear to us. These things happen every day, but none of it takes you by surprise. That we can come just as we are before the Creator of the universe, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son and our Saviour, and you are there with us, gives us comfort and reassurance, even in those times we don't understand. You love us and promise to never leave us or forsake us, you're our Good Shepherd and we are your sheep. What can we say but thank you, and though our words seem inadequate, yours never is, Father, and so we pray and ask for your Word to speak to our brother Frank and his wife as they deal with a tragedy in their family. Hold them close, Lord, we pray their sorrow is soon turned to joy and renewed hope, as you remind them that this, too, is temporary, but your Word, your Love, and your Kingdom are eternal, and because of Jesus, you have made us accepted in the beloved. Thank you, Father, for this your Word : "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." (+Titus3:4-7+) Please comfort and strengthen our brother Frank, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen.
