we have a sister who is struggling with alcoholism, She just had a fit and almost died. She refuses to go to any help centers. and checked herself out of one, We fear she is suicidal and is giving up.. Your prayers are requested, that she hears God who is calling her out, we all know it.
EG, don't want to be insensitive about it, but just wondering if she is really saved?

A friend of mine (non believer) was using alcohol and painkillers to numb her emotional pain, depression and past guilt. These things numbed her pain temporarily, but made her worse when she was then sober. She died. It'll be 3 years ago on the 25th July. They said it was an "accidental drowning in the bathtub". She was heavily intoxicated. It could've been a suicide. (I've heard there's something about an intoxicated person needing to be in water. So many deaths in bathtubs as a result. Scary).

I've not known of a believer being an alcoholic, because such were some of you, but you were washed.... sanctified... justified... and we know that only God can fill that hole in our lives, which non believers try to fill with other things but never feel satisfied, because only He can fill it.

By no means am I saying we are sinless (we are not), because we all struggle with sin, just that I've not heard of a believer turning to alcohol when they now have Christ. The reason so many turn to alcohol and drugs is their attempt to numb their pain because of the emptiness and even depression. They don't have that peace that surpasses all understanding. They feel good from that high and then miserable when they're sober because it's back to reality.

Again, not trying to be insensitive, but just wondering, and felt like I had to say something.

But I will pray for her and her family.

so much we don't know. we don't know this woman's heart, nor do we know whether this addiction was present before she was saved. we all struggle with besetting sin... those things that are harder to conquer. we don't know what her pain might be.

what we do know is God is faithful. He has loved His dear children forever. He sees what we do not, and knows well what each of us needs. we do know He will do what's best for each of us. we know Christians might fall deeply and radically, yet God has promised He will never leave us or forsake us, and even when we are faithless, He is not. our Rock and our Redeemer.

selah.

Good morning everyone.

Other books were given for our information,
the Bible was given for our transformation.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello Jak, I know you're loving this heat in S. Carolina.
It's been super hot here on the coast, not sure how hot
it's been up your way.

How's the job thingy going?

Greetings! :) It's pretty hot down here as well. I think it was about 100 degrees yesterday. So hot you could probably cook something on the pavement alone. But luckily I've got a pool now to get away from the heat.

I've been aggressively searching for work for the past two weeks. So far nothing yet. But, this kind of thing takes time. I'll find something eventually.

Yea, it's been over 100 down here for a while. The news folks cook an egg on the hood of a car every year.
The water is super warm these days also, some fish are dying. We had a big storm to come through last night,
so, we hope it'll be cooler today.

Well, hang in there, something will come your way. You could apply at Boeing, if hired, you'd have to relocate.
Well, maybe not, depends on how far away you live from Charleston. It's just a thought, they pay real good, with good beenies. Keep the faith, God will place you where He wants you to be.

Or the ones you get that ONLY say "hi" or "hey" or "hello". I HATE those. Make it worth my time to read your PM to me, and make it at least a full sentence long..lol
