I have only been a member for 2 months, but I'm not finding veteran members to be overly aloof or unfriendly. I have also spent most of my time in the BDF which can get very heated, haha. This forum really is not that unfriendly. I've seen all these same complaints on others forums. I have been impressed by how many members regularly post in the welcome threads and inform the new members. That was a pleasant surprise when I signed up.

I do understand where Torus was coming from though and I can sympathize. It is intimidating to start posting as the new comer. If you make a mistake or two and get criticized for it, it can be embarrassing and make you feel less comfortable contributing in the future. Maybe a private message explaining the forum etiquette is a better way to steer the new member.

I also think that some new members are expecting too much too quickly. I've read a few threads from new members in which they voiced complaints about this forum and then they deleted their account right after. They aren't really giving the veteran members time to get to know them. Considering how regularly trolls sign up and spam the BDF with divisive threads and then get banned shortly after, I can't really fault members for being a bit impatient with new members who don't seem to follow forum protocol. I think we all just have to be more patient and less quick to get offended.
I know this wasn't about me (espeicially since I haven't even been on this thread for eons... :p), I'd like to point out that I am always wary of newcomers because I am very protective of myself since I am a very emotionally fragile person. So I don't interact with or like new people's posts until I get a sense of what type of person they are. To the newbie I probably look like I'm shunning them or being clique-ish but I'm just not trusting of strangers....

And... when I started on this site it took me a long long time for people to start interacting with me. I even gave up a few times because I was just ignored. Becoming a familiar face on a forum doesn't happen overnight.

Burned myself cooking popcorn....lol...apparently the oil wanted to pop right out at me. :p
Ouch! That happened to me once too while cooking burgers in a pan. The oil popped onto my arm and my skin said, "Bye! Nice knowing ya!" :( It was only a couple small spots but it left visible marks that were there for years.

Actually, I thought you were very friendly. You seem to be very easy going with everyone.

I totally understand what you are saying though. I don't blame you. I think the new person in any group setting has to understand that they are joining a group of people who have already established a rapport with each other and come online daily to interact and catch up. You shouldn't take it personally if you aren't noticed as much as the regulars right off the bat. I think patience is key.

No wonder he didn't get it, you are supposed to send it to him through the computer, not put it in your mailbox at your house? :p

How has your day gone?

Anyone want to play a game called guess how kodiak injured himself today? :p
You fell going up stairs and stubbed your toe, a comb slipped out of your hand while you were combing your hair and hit your toe just right and cut it. The mixer dropped to the floor and cake batter is everywhere and you broke your thumb in the beaters trying to make them stop....o.k. Blond give up how did you hurt yourself?

Sorry you burned yourself Kody they sting so bad... Lavender essential oil will take the sting out of a burn at least a minor burn I have used it before and keep a small bottle of it in the kitchen.

No probs. I say it from the point of view of someone who can't sing to save her life, so go ahead, keep putting it out there - in my mind you're only doing the Lord's work. Someone could be inspired or healed or anything of the kind from your sound one day. Don't let the enemy hold you hostage with self doubt.

Psalms 112:

4) Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5 .) A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 .) Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
7 .) He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
