I had a major boon to my spiritual growth this week, and as much as I would love to share it with all of you, I cannot. I cannot because I have been a member here long enough to know that I wouldn't receive any encouragement or support for my news. What I would receive, in massive quantities, is admonishment, being beaten over the head with scripture, and loads of snide comments to make me feel bad about my choices or to put me down so the speaker could feel holier-than-thou.

I dislike that I have what I feel to be wonderful news and that I feel as though I am not welcomed to share it.
Happy for you if you are happy.....

What if they're a member here, and they only respond with anger and hostility and won't listen? I honestly believe this person is having a nervous breakdown or something.. :(

Pray for them, offer assistance to do what you can, suggest they go to a doctor...
Maybe they just need someone to talk to... listen to them.
If it looks they they are on the verge of a breakdown,
the stress levels in their life are probably pretty high.
Ask them what is going on if you don't already know.
Encourage them to talk about what is weighing on their heart.

They may not want to listen but they probably want to be heard. Anger, they are not accepting something, what do they want to change, what are they trying to control? How well do you know them or their situation? Have you asked if they would like to speak privately?

What do you do when you suspect that someone is having a mental or emotional breakdown to the point that they're completely irrational?

If they are a danger to themself or others two family members can go to the county courthouse and get a court judgment to have them held for evaluation.

If they are not a danger and they are not cooperative with you, perhaps someone else can convince them to get help.

If you have to interact with them, don't hesitate to get support for yourself.
