Good grief! It seems like only yesterday I was 22 years old and leaving the Navy. Time goes fast! I often joke about from the time I started kindergarten until I graduated from high school, it seems like it took 100 years to go by! I must have watched the clock a lot in school. I've been out of high school now going on 36 years and it only feels like about 15 years has gone by since then.
So, wadda ya wanna be when ya grows up?

Try using Avocado Oil............
Ok...I'll bite.

Why the two changes?

Avacado oil is a pricey oil for deep frying...as a flavoring ingredient I can see...but for deep frying I'm not sure what improvement it's going to provide.

And dark karo syrup? Why the change there?

Avocado is more healthy (according to my VA Dr.) and Dark Kayro has a richer flavor. It's just a suggestion/thought.

You can buy Microwave Popcorn in Avocado Oil at Walmart and others Stores I guess. It is really good.

I need to know.......
is this special type of yeast?
I usually use active dry like this:

is that it, or is "low moisture dough yest" something different?
It's different...

It usually comes in a gold foil of some sort.

There's another by saff that claims it does the same thing but I used this one.

When bread dough has a high sugar content it binds up the water and makes it unusable for the yeast to activate... making your proof time so long that it's untenable.

Between the sugar in the milk and the sugar the recipe requires...it's over 10% of the weight of the flour. So a special yeast is needed.

The one I pictured is available from Amazon and isn't as expensive as most of them are. It's not really expensive at all. I think $11/lb. Including shipping. (Amazon prime)

There's enough yeast there to make 38 batches of donuts. That's actually cheaper in price than the packets you are showing. And it will work with normal bread making as well.

Also...
If you aren't going to use so much in a reasonable amount of time. Put the yeast in the deep freezer inside of a ziploc bag and sealed up good. It will keep longer. Dried goods stay good for a year... usually. Longer than that and it might not work out.

Coffee and chocolate are both made from beans.
Beans are vegetables.
Beans are good for you.

So how can anyone say that chocolate and coffee are bad for you?

Beans are legumes ;) A peanut is a legume, also ;)

Well-known legumes include alfalfa, clover, beans, peas, chickpeas,
lentils, lupins, mesquite, carob, soybeans, peanuts, and tamarind :geek:

Just be prepared to eat them fast and furious... you will need at least four people in the house to keep from eating too many.
Well, definitely have enough people in my house to feed them to :)
um, do the y HAVE to be eaten right away, or will they be alright if they sit for a while
(like if I make them before everyones up will they be okay sitting for a while?)

Yes...
Not a problem whatsoever.
They last a couple of days...might want to give them a few seconds in the microwave on the two day old.

They lasted a bit longer in my house because it's just me and my wife here and I'm trying to do some push backs and get ready to go back to work. (Gotten fat during the pandemic) so I'm currently cutting way back on what I eat so I can exercise when it warms up.

But I'd limit myself to two donuts and 4 holes each day.
My wife limited herself to four...and the recipe makes two dozen.

Around day four or so zapping them in the microwave wasn't effective...so I pitched them.

We have five days total lockdown sprung on us today. Came out of nowhere. Someone did not quarantine and spread it.
