that is the northern view.

the truth is that in 1860, the north placed tariffs on cotton, the south's largest cash crop. ( the union had no issue with slavery when they were making money off of it).

the southern states decided that since the union was going to treat it like a foreign nation, it would BE a foreign nation.

south carolina seceded first ( which was perfectly legal under the treaty of paris 1783, all states were recognized as independent)

union troops were ordered off confederate gov. property, they refused to leave ft. sumter, shots were fired, the civil war was began.

then, under the guise of freeing the slaves , the north went to war.

of course, slavery was dead wrong, and should have been abolished , but the yanks were no goodie two shoes....
So you're saying that Abraham Lincoln and the Union army went to war with the south and lost hundreds of thousands of dedicated young men just because they didn't want to lose some tax money on cotton? Okay then. I won't argue with you. You are entitled to your opinion.

@phil36 a few of these songs were running through my mind last night, then I thought of your request for christian country, so here ya go. I couldn't find the whole album to copy as one, but between this post and the next I think this is the whole album.
if you go to youtube and type "Paul Overstreet Living by the Book album" a link should come up (it's the one I used to copy all these) where it has 14 songs listed then should be able to play them all without having to click each one.

it's hard to pick just one favorite from this selection, but I really like "wise men still seek Him" and "He is risen" and "dig another well".

Oh well, my package was supposedly delivered to my mailbox today according to the USPS tracking system, but it wasn't there. :(Wasn't by the front door either. Filled out a missing mail report online. Guess we'll see what happens... Luckily it wasn't anything important, or terribly expensive.

SOOOOOOOOO.............

I was going to say something in another thread but didn't want to derail it or take away from anyone's serious discussions (I'm in a tired, goofy, not thinking/filtering things all the way through.... goofy mood tonight  )
but I REEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY wanted to say it........
then I remembered SYM is an (almost) anything goes thread sooooooooooooooo you guys reading here to get read it instead.

Is it just me or do holidays roll around earlier and earlier every year?
I mean we're only not quite 4 1/2 months into the new year and the Christmas debates are already starting for 2021......
I just finished getting all my holiday decor packed up in mid April......
oh well, at the rate things are going maybe next year I'll be able to get away with leaving it out year round

That’s because AL ain’t good with having stuff from GA passing through, so your package was redirected to NC. 😁

Good morning, Gandy. Do you read the paper? I used to read it everyday, but that was about 20 years ago. I only read the business section though. Don't care about sports or cartoons lol.
The internet changed all of that. I read the news on internet now :)

The problem with SA newspapers is it is political driven drivel and I am not interested in it :)
