lol...not sure if a man who enjoys lite brite, would be enticed by the likes of me! Lol...but thanks Violet lol
He will probably be playing with the Lego's or Lincoln Logs or something. They will find whatever to play with. My dad would even have a tea party with me and play with my stuffed animals.

you know, i never went to a slumber party. the idea never appealed to me.

i was always the weirdo kid lol
I didn't go to a lot of slumber parties. In fact when I did go I only had one friend and we kept to ourselves. You really didn't miss much, especially looking back on it.

:)

One Christmas my mother, who was earning almost nothing, spent way more money than she could afford, went into debt, to buy me a bunch of expensive toys.

My grandfather, her father, taught her a lesson she never forgot. He made me one of these, and did not spend a penny. They tell me I played with that thing all day long, and Mom cried the whole time.

It's just an oatmeal box with some stones sealed inside, attached to a string.

Most kids would rather play with the boxes they came in than the toy itself.:)

The one game I didn't like is Monkeys in a Barrel. Could never understand how to do it. Yes, you did bring up another game I don't really like "Sorry" I have played that game with the kids in Sunday School and they would always cheat and come up with their own rules even after you have explained it several times.

I think my one sister had more fun taking apart things and putting them back together....apparently she took a vcr player apart when she was little.....

Once I cut out a cardboard sword for my nephew...to play Knight and dragon with lol...After 5minutes the cardboard sword became floppy, but my nephew loved me so much for making it. He played with a floppy sword anyway. Lol

Melita, when I was 10 yrs old I got invited to a birthday party for the first time in my life. I had been placed in foster care so having a normal life was new and wonderful to me (during that time). I figured girls wore party dresses so I wore one of my Sunday School dresses, a chiffon one like in this photo but only pastel pink. I loved wearing it even though I was an ornery freckle-face tomboy! (imagine that??) lol

So I walk into the party with that thing on and ribbons in my hair like goofy little Cindy from the Brady Bunch. And the girls are all wearing shorts or jeans. I'm like.... wow. This sure sucks. But I got over it quickly and played all the games, including Twister (in my chiffon dress, YES!) because I just didn't care cause it was the first party I ever went to. heehee

Our two youngest children got a bunch of popular toys one Christmas. After they took the new toys to their rooms, they took the wrapping paper and boxes out to the back yard and played with them for the rest of the school vacation.

I fell in love with my nephew as my own back then. So sad he would call me mommy because his mother tossed him away like nothing! He is a teen now with his wonderful daddy, well my nephews son he is lol...but he is a star baseball player. And at thirteen now he saw me recently and hugged me and he said " I love you Auntie always,...and I never will forget as a toddler, you would always say..."Triston...I see the sunshine on your face!".....lol then he said "Aunty just don't tell my friends now, you used to say that to me!". Lol....I shall always love that kid!

Next Tuesday is the day.

Mama asked me what I wanted for breakfast.

I told her "A REFILL"!

Willie... I can't stop laughing at your story and the accompanying photo of the boy with the oatmeal box on a string. I will probably laugh about this all weekend. I gotta share it with my daughter. She will split her sides laughing. She's got three boys.

Please pray for a successful (no seizures) titration off my old medication. It is a three week process.

Did you see the movie, "The Help?" That maid sure instilled a lot into her little charge by speaking love into her life.

Lol...isn't it so cute what the imaginations of children can make us grown ups do! Lol...when my nephews son Triston was 5,...he would visit me and I'd take him in these forests, and all of a sudden....a tree log would be our ship we would sail! Lol...God I love little children! Lol
