Yes, I paraphrased the bible verse. I look at the deep as our inner spirit (spiritual man) and darkness as sin. What I learnt from the text is that unform and void are hidden inside darkness but in reality when God said, "Let there be light", darkness was gone and so unform and void are also gone, and God said that the light is good. Our good is hidden inside the darkness, in other words, there was a form and also no void but darkness covered them. The light is Jesus and when word of God (Jesus) is spoken, it is not directed to any other part of our being but to our spirit man and darkness that was on it will automatically removed and our spirit man is awaken. Our true self is our spirit man and darkness was hiding this true man.
I also understand that prior to Adam and Eve's disobedience to God, and subsequent spiritual death, that they had God's spirit within themselves.

I want your input friends on the Spirit of God in us is without blemish even in those who are not saved yet.
The Holy Spirit does not dwell in those who are not saved.. It only dwells in those who are saved..

Acts 8: KJV
14"Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: {15} Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: {16} (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) {17} Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."

Based on Genesis 1:2; the darkness was upon the face of the deep; in other words: sin was upon the face of the spirit of God in us. That means, darkness (sin) doesn't come into contact with the face of the deep (spirit of God in us). So when the light (Jesus) was told to come, the darkness was not seen and there was light (life or awakening) to our spirit.
I believe you are taking a physical description of the events of creation and adding symbolic meanings that are not rightfully associated with the scriptures being quoted..

Based on Genesis 1:2; the darkness was upon the face of the deep; in other words: sin was upon the face of the spirit of God in us
Genesis 1:2
The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

the Spirit of God is over, not under.

sin entered the world through one man. is there man in Genesis 1:2?
