over spiritual

could mean:
1) holier-than-thou (feeling superior to others because of one's salvation)
or
2) Depending on emotions and good feelings to guide one (over-exuberance)

however having a good ear for God's voice and feeling his presence and having holy zeal are all good and I can't see these as being over-spiritual.

In the book of ecclesiastes7:16-18;Do not be overrighteous neither be overwise-why destroy yourself.Do not be overwicked and do not be a fool, why die before yourtime? It is good to grasp the one and let go of the other whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.

How can one be overrighteous or overwise? How would that destroy a person?

such a person might be puffed-up and stiff-necked like the leaders Jesus had to deal with. They were overrighteous in their laws and stiff-necked in their attitude to Jesus' grace. Too wise the were in their own teaching, teaching as scribes and not with authority.

Being over-righteous would be to be SELFrighteous. It could also mean to be so 'righteous' as to become a stumbling block for others.

Many people accuse Christians of being "so spiritual that you are of no earthly good". But what we ARE supposed to be is 'so spiritual that we are of EVERY earthly good' which is to say that we exude Christ, walk in love, care for the widow and orphans and sick, pray for one another and maintain a close relationship with the Lord.

[/QUOTE]This site will give you a good example of this! Some people answer nearly every single thread and act like the all authority on anything & everything on what some have expressed. They shout their views from the mountain tops and from what I've witnessed, they think they are the only righteous ones, and everyone else knows nothing. They try to intimidate and serve themselves, because they are full of themselves and live for themselves.

These type usually have a certain trait. They are the scorners and the mockers and the false accusers. They twist your words and they bait you, and they are unloving, cold, aggressive. They refute most scripture whilst they preach of love and grace. They do a disservice to God and they will trample the truth to the ground. They will also quote scripture to say that God is speaking to YOU or scripture that is totally unrelated because the truth is not in them for they love a lie.

Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

WOW. I was just talking about Solomon. But This is what the KJV says:

Ecc 7:16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
Ecc 7:17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
Ecc 7:18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.
Ecc 7:19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.
Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Ecc 7:21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:
Ecc 7:22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.
Ecc 7:23 All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.
Ecc 7:24 That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?
