Hi. I think everyone should take on this challenge once in their life.

No Media for 45 Days!

No TV, Movies, music, gaming, secular magazines, Internet, facebook, netflix, etc…
Oh no I could never do that!
This should serve as a warning to our souls that we are distracted from Jesus.
I could never live without these things!
How did our ancestors ever live for 6000 years without them? Better than we live now! A majority of the current world population lives without these things!

Why fast from it all?

 • It takes about 45 days to create a new habit
 • It will reset our taste buds
 • Our discernment will improve
 • We will begin to hear the voice of God
 • Our Christian experience will reach new heights
 • The world will grow “strangely dim”
 • We will have time to invest in our walk with God
 • We will learn to embrace quiet

The 90 Day Challenge!

 • Day 1 – delete all of the media out of your lives that the Holy Spirit has revealed to be a problem
 • Leave the items that you are not sure about
 • Replace the empty time with productive things
 • Start reading the Desire of Ages – One chapter every day for 86 days
 • On day 46, bring back only the media that you know passes the test, keep reading Bible and Desire of Ages
 • Ask God to guide as you analyze the media that you were not sure of
 • Each new week following add in one more media source going through the same proccess of asking God to awaken your spiritual discernment
 • After the 90 days be amazed at just how close you have drawn to the Lord
 • With Holy Spirit leading, determine if you should embrace another 90 days
It will be a tremendous struggle for some of you because you are fully addicted! Some have “climbed the walls by the first evening!”
Fight through it with Christ dwelling in you.

Fighting is Biblical!
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. – 2 Timothy 4:7-8
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. – Revelation 12:11
If you take this 90 Day challenge I know you will be well on your way to being in this group!
The frustration of living a mediocre, compromising Christian life will fade away and you will embrace life with new hope, new vigor, new energy, and with a new heart!
Don’t let the devil distract you away from your Lord!

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: – Philippians 1:6
God is able if we let Him!

Of course,The best answer on the question in the Bible We can't stay in this World and understand the Bible in the same time KJVMatthew13;22 22. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this World, and the deceitfulness of reches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.;Let's take a look why he blessed in the Gods word? The first of his blessing to stay away from this World after that he able to have his another blessing to understand, and delight, and meditate in the Lords Word day and night KJVPsalms1;1-3 1.Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and nignt 3.And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Hi all,

I am told that scripture is the Living Word. But to be honest ,alot of the time it just feels like words on a page. What am I doing wrong?( BTW...it hasn't always been like this ....I have had some very supernatural experiences with the bible ...am I going through a dry phase?)
Just figured this one out (possibly yet again ) recently. Pray first and then keep praying while reading.

Pray first gets our minds aligned to absorb what he has to say back to us.

Keep praying is a conversation with God. My mind wanders, so my keep-praying looks something like this:
"Psalm 106"

"Oh wow! I'm all the way to 106 now. How come I'm only on 106, when I started with 1 last year. Shouldn't I be done... Whoops. Sorry, God. Help bring me back to your word."

"Praise the Lord."

"Whew! Cool a praise song rather than one of David's Smite Songs. Ahhh, nuts. Already went off track, right, God?" Please bring me back. And praise you for knowing how easily I get sidetracked, so thank you before I get onto another sidetrack. Was that a sidetrack? Sorry, Lord, keep my mind focused better."

"Oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good. His for his steadfast love endures forever."

"Wow! Both on 'endure,' because you really have to do that with me, and for 'forever.'"

And usually about that time, it starts being either what I'm learning or who God is.

Don't feel bad, Mooks.. I barely read the bible either. I just can't keep my mind focused for long, without thinking about a dozen other things. I'd like to be able to read it for literally more than a minute..

The devil seeks to convince us we can't read or hear the Bible because it takes too much thought and our minds wander. Don't believe it. he will do whatever he can to convince us to somehow not fill our minds with the Word of God. We need the Holy Spirit to counter these attacks. It can only be done by the Holy Spirit working in and through us.

Without Him we can do nothing., we can't consistently read or listen to the Bible or the preaching of it unless we get help from the Helper. Why are so many Christians weak and sick??? This is one of the reasons., not retaining the Word when it is sown in our hearts. Don't become a victim. Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Probably. I have read sections of scripture and it is just the same story
again. Then I read it and so many things jump out at me.

The bible is such an emotional book, depending on our mood and what we
are open to, we blank off so much that is happening and why it is happening.

Much of scripture has such deep implications it is often hard for us to see
and just take in, it wises over our heads. So I find asking questions about
each passage, who is it talking to, who is it from, what are the issues it
is addressing and is there a direction or progress happening.

You suddenly find it is so involved and deep there are just too many themes
to take up and follow, and often it takes a long time, and I just time out.

God bless you,

There are those who will disagree with me, but my belief is that the Lord's Word are those instances in the Bible where God or Jesus are quoted.

If we lack faith, then we must more abundantly hear the Word of God, seeing that faith cometh (only) by hearing the Word of God.

And it seems in this world there are very few willing to climb out of the caves with ears and eyes open....

John 21:25
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written

Just read the bible when you want to read it, if you force yourself to read it you'll just end up hating it.
I think this is actually a pretty good suggestion. I don't know if I'd say so much that you'd hate it, but I think one can get more out of it is they read it at a leisurely pace, just like with any other book. I just finished reading the Bible in full again last week actually. I took my time with it this time around so it took a little bit over a year, but I enjoyed it a lot more this time around, I felt like I got a lot more out of it.

You can only consider yourself Spirit led when you are adhering to the Word.Being Spirit led is not some smooshy, wishy washy phenomenon that some charismatics would have you believe. The bible is central to being a christian ...no bible = no Christianity.
The spirit will remind you of scripture, that's what the bible says, and that's what it does. I say again, you don't need to force yourself to read the bible to remember it.

John 14:25-27[SUP]25 [/SUP]“All this I have spoken while still with you. [SUP]26 [/SUP]But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. [SUP]27 [/SUP]Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Okay, let's try it this way. When I was a little kid I wanted to fish because Dad fished and brought home enough to eat for the whole family.

Should I have just guessed how to fish? Because I did. And I couldn't figure out why the fish weren't eating the hook. It was in the water at the end of the pole, so why weren't they eating it? (Heaven help my whole family, if I had to start at Square One and learn how to put a pole and reel together. I didn't even know that didn't happen magically until I was in my teens. lol)

No, couldn't fish without learning how to fish. Fishies do not eat hooks. They eat something that looks like dinner and that something has a hook hidden in it. I didn't know that until Dad taught me that. I also didn't know fish don't usually come to the surface to get their meals. (The hook was barely in the water.) After I learned how to tempt the fishy, I then had to learn to wait for more than just a nibble. (Picture flying bait and hook hitting branches 50 feet behind me because I yanked way too hard at the first little nibble. lol) And then how to hook it. Then how to fight it against wanting to swim around the anchor rope/rocks/waterlogged trees and stumps/docks/seaweed beds, etc. Then how to stop it from jumping out of the water to shake the hook out. Then how to... then, then, then. None of this came magically to me. Each step Dad taught me something new. If I didn't listen to the instructions, I'm way back at waiting for a fish to swallow a hook at the water's surface three inches from shoreline.

Likewise, we're not learning squat without the instruction manual from Big Daddy -- God. His word. The Bible. And, frankly, it's much easier to hope a fish just happens to swim by a hook floating in the water and I snag that sucker, then it is likely some unknown spirit will impart God's words into my life.

You really have to get over that some spirit is leading you into God. Again, wrong spirit. I can tell from almost everything you post as sage wisdom. It's no more sage then little girl holding onto a pole and staring at a hook sparkling right under the water line three inches from the shoreline for a three pound largemouth to come into three inches of water. T'ain't gonna happen that way. Doesn't matter how often you say it will. It's just not!

The Bible is not the "living word", Jesus of Nazareth is.

I wonder if you have been putting the Bible before your daily relationship with Christ. We are to love Christ, not the Bible, though we may love the Bible because it is how we learn more about Christ.

I believe the Holy Spirit works with our spirit when we read the Bible, but the point is to bring us closer to Christ, not worship the Bible as the most important thing in our lives.

I've been studying the bible constantly since 2004.
initially it was a starving woman feeding on the Word day in and out for years....daily food.
then over the last two years or so I have studied less and found it really hurts me to go without scripture and especially prayer.
it is totally true that worries, financial stuff, and even the devil choke out the word.
it has to be a daily discipline. I found one of the greatest things in life has been the scriptures I have managed to memorize - but without constant study, it can slip away.
this site is good for helping refresh re: the scriptures....the trick is filtering out erroneous interpretations - lol.
