It’s quite the predicament we Christians as in. It’s clear we aren’t supposed to live for comfort in this life. There are many scriptures encouraging us to look forward to death, and I do. It’s not out of depression however, it’s curiosity.
I’m not by any means suicidal but what keeps me here most is my sense of duty to God. It is a mystery to me how any Christian, cares enough about anything in this life to be so depressed to think death is the only option. As children of God, we aren’t supposed to live for money, or sex, or acceptance. Our life was purchased so we could lay down these temporal cares and serve God. So if you aren’t living for Christ are you really a Christian? It’s not a salvation through works question, but rather a submission to His authority. If we think we can take our life did we really surrender, or believe He is Lord.
This is how I think this question needs to be answered. The question isn’t, if you commit suicide are you forgiven? The question is, if you commit suicide did you really submit to the authority of Christ? Were you saved to begin with?
