I have been on youtube lately and I have found Doug Perry's videos to be very helpful. The video subject that I am asking about is about speaking to God. He has several videos about this, talking about speaking to god using 1st john 4-2. In this you have to test the spirit. You have 3 voices, there is you, the evil or demonic voice, and the voice of god. These voices being thoughts. In order to recognize this voice to be god you have to test it. In order to test it you have to ask it do you recognize that jesus came in the flesh and is from god and if it says yes you know its him, and if it says no then it is not. you have to wait and not answer it yourself. I don't know if any of you speak to god or have heard of this. I highly suggest that you look up these videos on youtube. Also in these videos he says that many people do not hear the voice of god because they are clogged up by the world. My question is how do you unclog yourself from the world? There are many distractions in this world that the devil uses to make us more of the world and away from god, these are common everyday distractions. Maybe I wont find the answer on here but I give you something to ponder. I know there may be many methods, but how do you shut off those distractions so that you can start to unclog yourself? I can provide the links if y'all want but for now I wont just in case it is against the site policy. Anyways thank you and God Bless.

if you practice hearing voices you will. unfortunantly the bible Does NOT tell
us to practice hearing voices. But the occult does. Get off you tube and read
the gospels and let the Lord Jesus teach you. By His life and instructions.

We meditate to discipline our minds, not to hear voices.
We can think while we pray. Sometimes not always our thoughts
can lead to discovering things. but its not to hear voices.

Prayer is to talk, make requests, and to worship. Not to hear voices.

Im saying the occult.....groups that want to go into the forbidden spiritual zone
try different ways to open up their mind to spiritual experiences and listen to inner voices.
Problem is is that there is a forbidden spiritual zone where you can and will hear inner
voices. But not from God.

Stay biblical. Let Jesus teach you how to pray.
King David meditated day and night....but it was on the law.
Its very dangerous to practice hearing voices...ok?
Jesus never did that or taught that, neither did the Apostles.

The church is flooded these days with paganism so
read the word and dont learn off youtube there are tons of hackjobs out there.

I have not read the bible in so long i am afraid, or attended church. I have gone down the path of man and of this world for many years. Through the years i have been lead astray from god and jesus by many a distractions. Its just recently that i decided i wanted to go back on the path of Him and our creator.

Ok, so what does 1st john 4-2 really mean then? I am still a little bit slightly confused it is said in the bible that some people from those times had heard the voice of god.

Ive always believed in god and heaven, I just haven't studied the bible or applied it much in my life.

We must know what is pleasing and what Heavenly Father does not want us to do, this you will learn through the Bible.

God has spoke to different people at different times in the history
of the world. But Heb 1:1-2 says He now does through His Son.

Thats why i said read the Gospels. Reading the Word is how we hear.
Not in a voice.

When God spoke to men it was when He wanted not when they wanted.
So there are no excercises we do or can do that makes God talk to us.

This is great news. Try reading again and know He sees your heart.
You dont have to make any effort, He knows you and will help you
get strong but you will need to read the Word, and find some fellowship.
Many of us have strayed and He brought us back

Read the Bible and ask for understanding.

You can pray and fast.

There are no secret formulas. Just talk to Him in prayer.
And trust He sees you and will guide you in His Word.

Ok thanks you have all been helpful. im still kind of confused but its ok it will get better im sure. I believe I have heard a voice once. I was sick and i was worried about my blood test I had got done. So i prayed And it told me that it would turn out fine. Sure enough a little while later i got a thing in the mail my blood test had come out normal. I also prayed to remove a desire from me that i had been struggling with and he did but i eventually out of my own selfishness forced myself back onto it. I have made so many promises to him that have gone broken. I want to be better i want his forgiveness and understanding.
