The message to Israel, "The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi." (Mal 1:1)
"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD come." (Mal 4:5)

Jesus applied this reference to Elijah to John the Baptist in Matt. 11:14
Jesus' first coming was great and terrible? I do believe you need to rethink your eschatology.
There is not one preterist, historicist, amillennialist or post-millennialist who can rightly ascertain the meaning of these many passages.

Act 3:21
“whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Luk 21:24
“And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Luk 22:16
“for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

Luk 13:35
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Mar 14:25
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

The reference to synagogue cannot be overlooked, it is distinctly Jewish.

The character of Revelation emphasizes that Christianity is the true Israel of God, and would suggest John’s put down of Judaism among ethnic, literal Jews:
You're mistakenly hyper-fixating on the word "synagogue". Did you know that the early church that began in Acts was run by Jews (The apostles and disciples of Messiah) first called Christians and they congregated in synagogues?

In fact, Revelation 7 describes the 144000, and among them are 12,000 ethnic, literal Jews.

The "synagogue of satan" is a group who pretend to be Jews but are not. They are liars.

"First: Joel 2:30-31 states, "And I will show wonders in the heavens, and in the earth blood and fire and pillars of smoke. And the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible Day of the Lord comes.” The great & terrible Day of the Lord is also known as the “Great Tribulation” in the New Testament. This is a period of 7 years just prior Christ’s Millennial reign.

Pillars of smoke? The Hebrew word translated "pillars" is "timmorah." It is used 21 times in the Old Testament. Only twice is the word translated as "pillars." The other 19 times it is translated as "palm tree." So there is to be "blood and fire and palm-trees of smoke." That is a very accurate picturing of the hydrogen bomb. The atomic bomb (on the right, below) is referred to as a mushroom cloud, not a pillar. But look at the hydrogen bomb, on the left below."

Nahum 2:3-4 reads:“Chariots of flashing steel will rage in the streets. They will jostle one against another in the broad roads; they will run like the lightning; they will move with blazing torches… In the day of His preparation to Come.”

How else could cars and trucks have been described at that time?

In the middle of describing the Lord’s Return, the prophet Isaiah (60:8) stops and asks: “Who are these that fly like a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?”

Fourth: Prophecies in Amos 9:2 and Obadiah 4 may imply space-craft just prior to the Tribulation.

Amos 9:2 -- "Though you climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring you down … says the Lord God, who touches the earth and it melts (in the Tribulation)."

Obadiah 4 -- "Though you exalt yourself and … set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down (in the Tribulation), says the LORD."

I merely read scripture in its context. I do believe the great judgments of God have similarities but a passage has one meaning and one meaning only.
Well, this is wrong! In hermeneutics, we learn how to correctly interpret the Bible.

The first step of interpreting any verse or passage is learning who the passage was written to. That means the people who were contemporaries of the author. Many of the prophets have written passages & even whole chapters on prophesying the destruction of certain nations. Isaiah 15-34, for example, contains several prophecies about the destruction of nations surrounding Israel. By revealing to Israel and Judah that all surrounding nations would be destroyed, the Lord gave them good reasons to trust Him instead of trusting in any treaties or alliances with these neighboring countries.

Some of these nations Isaiah write to include Moab, Damascus, Ephraim (the northern kingdom), Ethiopia or Cush, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Edin & Arabia.

Of course, we must recognize these prophecies were for those specific people, at that time! Yet, Isaiah's prophecies can be useful to us, today, and through the centuries.

"See, the day of the Lord is coming
—a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
and destroy the sinners within it.
10 The stars of heaven and their constellations
will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give its light.
11 I will punish the world for its evil,
the wicked for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty
and will humble the pride of the ruthless." Isaiah 13:9-11

Certainly the references to the Day of the Lord are relevant for today, as found in another OT prophecy:

"Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the Lord’s wrath.” In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth." Zephaniah 1:18

I'm not sure who Zephaniah was writing to, (My study Bible is in another room!) but this also looks like a warning for today. Yet, he used the same "Day of the Lord!"

So once the context has been examined (to whom and where was it written) we can line it up to similar passages that add information. And some of that information applies not just to the people or nation it was written to, but many times in history!

I suggest you read a book on Bible interpretation. It made understanding the Bible so much easier, but also why so many false doctrines have been made, that come from eisegesis, or reading personal ideas into the text, rather than exegesis, or taking out of the text what the verse/passage is saying both to the original people it was written to, as well as for generations to the present!
