Hey there! First time posting here, been reading for a while!

Anyways, my question today pertains to the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse. A friend of mine who I have grown up within the church with is interested in getting a tattoo which as you might have guessed, is of the 4 Horseman. I will be the first to admit, that when I heard about his idea, I was a bit hesitant. When I hear mention of the 4 Horseman I think of "War, Pestilence, Death and Famine" and the general connotation that they are associated with evil and the start of the "Apocalypse."

I will admit that I do not know as much about the 4 Horseman as I would like. I know that they are referenced briefly in the book of Revelation (which I read over) but I left with a feeling of not complete understanding.

His claims are that they are the sign of Jesus Christ returning to save all of his followers and lead them to Heaven, then they are the aftermath, the coming judgment for non Christians alike.

I am not sure how to interpret this. On one side, he views it as a sign of the return of Christ himself; however on the other he sees it as judgement against non Christian believers after the rapture has taken place.

I will admit the fact that I am not very familiar with said area/scripture and its meaning or translation. That is why I was hoping to get some help and advice/opinions from others!

So, what do you all think?

Thanks!

I see it as judgment poured out on ancient apostate Jerusalem by God for their rejection of the Messiah and spiritual harlotry toward God. The horsemen are symbolic and not to be taken as literal horsemen. But 60% or so of the people would disagree with me...For an in-depth study see video below:

My interpretation is that they represent the devastation that will preceed the Antichrist. First one, white horse, bow in hand but no arrows , crown on head, comes in peace but authority, conquering by looking strong. I think this is the joining of power among the nations, creating a one world government peacefully. Second, red horse, wars will break out. When all of a sudden the nations finally turn off the tvs and look out the window and realize their freedoms are gone there will be revolts and wars against those who challenge the collective. Third, black horse, scales, and famines. When the US dollar collapses there will be a huge market crash. Money will be worthless so there goes the economy, and the ability to buy food and water. There is also a reference to limited amount of food. Fourth, pale horse, sick, just bad, 1/4 population die because of famines, illness, war, animals. Then I believe the Antichrist will enter the picture and be a savoir to the devastated planet.

Way I see it Four Horsemen are literal and may they ride hard and fast across the face of earth when the time to break the seals comes as Jesus wills it. They're pretty well explained in Book of Revelation.

My real question is, why get the tattoo?

As much as I do enjoy biblical inspired artwork, kinda thinking a tattoo specifically of such a thing might not be a good idea especially considerring the reoccuring biblical taboo on tattoos, especially later on in Revelation lol.

Leviticus 19:28, "You shall not cut your bodies for the dead, nor put tattoo marks upon yourselves. I am Yahweh"

And no Jesus did not die so people could get "inked up"

Lol what is the SDA even?

As for USA aligning with the beast of the earth, we shall see. Mind you that's if the US even exists at that point lol. Also don't feel too comfortable my friend subjected to the British Crown, I'm sure Britain and her puppet realms will go wheresoever America goes lol.

Ahh the 7th Dayers, not bad people, though I think they have misinterpretted the Second Advent.

And no insult intended to Queen Elizabeth II, one of my favorite monarchs. God Save that Queen indeed!

Merely pointing out that today America and the Anglo Crown Realms are the tightest knit alliance in modern geo-politics and probably will be for a while longer.

That might change a little in Canada when the Conservative government and Stephen Harper gets the boot and the Liberals get into "office".

Lol I doubt it unless you can separate yourself from the North American continent. But alas we digress on this topic, we shall take this discussion elsewhere for sake of manners I think lol.

Most people are going to associate a tattoo of the 4 horsemen with TV series like "Supernatural" or "Sleepy Hollow," which both are full of the occult. They are also generally going to see the 4 horsemen as representing chaos or anarchy.

I'm a Christian and if I saw someone with a tattoo of the 4 horsemen, I certainly wouldn't think that they had Jesus in mind when getting it.

Though I do not know the motive of your friend's heart, I think many people get "Christian" based tattoos, because they think they are cool and not because they want to glorify Christ.

I recently saw a friend's Facebook photo and in her picture she had a friend that was a girl (in a bikini) who had a cross tattooed near her pubic area. I thought to myself, "How far does this have to go before Christians start seeing that there is something wrong with the recent obsession of "Christian ink?"

You mean that part in revelation where Jesus has things written on his skin? On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. Revelation 19:16
