If that was the title, your view of the "moral code of the bible" would still be so far off as to be virtually antithetical to scripture.
.
I'm sorry if you found it insulting. I meant no offense. I was just stating a personal opinion on sin more than anything.

Insulting?

It's not an emotional response to point out the problems of your admittedly Gnostic beliefs.

I'm still in my exploratory stage of finding a religion, have been for years. I'm not really anything at this point. I do find the bible has a lot of true to it. I suppose you could say I'm more gnostic than anything, I study all religions. I mistitled the thread actually, what it should really read is "The moral code of the bible summed up in a single sentence". It's important not just to know is a sin but why it is a sin.
Gnostic? Oy vey.

You do know that the epistles of John straight up condemn that belief system, right?

Get out of that mess, repent and turn to Jesus. (The real one that came in the flesh, not the fake Jesus of gnosticism)

Not straight up full on Gnosticism but I hold some of their beliefs. Like there being at least some hidden knowledge in all religion.

Most sin shortens your life or does something else bad. Others of course are related to the preservation of the faith and perhaps something else I'm missing off the top of my head. I thought if I simplified what a sin is I could more greatly understand and interpret the bible.
This is a rather confused and confusing statement. Perhaps you should think things through and then post.

Anyhow, the Bible in a sentence is a sentence from the Bible: The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him...(Rev 1:1)

If you are exploring, do think about this.

Some vital information has been lost because of time. So much time has gone by since the first scripture was given us using the language and culture of that long ago that we need to know what people of that time was facing to know how God was speaking to them. That information is in the dead sera scrolls, and you need to learn from scholars who have studied what was in them. You can do this by checking the educational background of the scholars who write.

Scripture is so much more than this, if you are limiting God to only one segment of Him you can't know scripture. God is a triune God, each aspect of God is vital.

If you don't count semi-colons; and colons: I believe this is one sentence that pretty much sums up the Bible...

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

The OP asked for one sentence. And the Bible is indeed THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.

It is Jesus Christ who is revealed on every page of Scripture. The Father has made Him Creator, Savior, Lord, Judge, and King of kings. All power and authority in Heaven and earth have been handed over to Christ. The Church has been handed over to Him. Redeemed and restored Israel has been handed over to Him. The universe has been handed over to Him.

And after everything has been made subject to Christ for eternity, He will hand everything back to God the Father.

For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. (1 Cor 15:27,28)

The forgiveness of sin that Christ accomplishes for us is only the first step to what the bible's goal for us is. The scripture that includes Christ and gives what God has for us and tells us of is this: Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of a Christian.

Do you believe that the Father now has no authority for He gave up being our God to make the Son our God? When Jesus was resurrected, as he spoke with Mary he told her: Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” That does not sound as if God is not our God any longer but Christ is our only God.

If you check all scripture you will find that we are forgiven our sins through what Christ did, but it is through Christ that the Father is the only one who can grant forgiveness through grace.

If you cut the Father out of your worship you are worshipping a false God, for that is not the God scripture tells us of. Scripture speaks of God as being the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Leave one out, or make the Son and the Holy Ghost the main God and you are not worshipping the true God.

If there is a moral code in the bible it is in the FACT that we can't achieve the moral code that is stated in the bible and we need a Saviour.

Simply refraining from the actions that we think the bible is showing us to refrain from isn't the central idea.

We agree! Scripture isn't about sin, it is about joy, abundance, love, eternal life. It is a manual about how to achieve these things.
