We have obeyed Jonadab, son of our ancestor Rechab, in all he commanded us.
So we haven’t drunk wine our whole life—we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters.

The command that Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine, has been kept, and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father’s command. I have spoken to you persistently, but you have not listened to me.

So Jeremiah summoned Baruch son of Neriah. At Jeremiah’s dictation,
Baruch wrote on a scroll all the words the Lord had spoken to Jeremiah.

And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am confined, I cannot go into the house of the LORD.

So you go and read from the scroll, which you have written at my dictation, the words of the LORD to the people at the LORD’S house on a day of fasting. And you shall also read them to all the people of Judah who come from their cities.

So Baruch son of Neriah did everything the prophet Jeremiah had commanded him.
At the Lord’s temple he read the Lord’s words from the scroll.
