I only wished they did these episodes sooner.
They’re planning to do 7 more I think, so that means 7 years.
Sigh.

As well Jesus did not have long hair. It was a dishonor for an Israelite male to have long hair, 1Cor 11:14) God did make a special covenant with the Nazarites( Samson) they were not supposed to cut their hair. Jesus was a Nazarene not a Nazarite. Some religions claiming to be christian have Jesus with long hair in their pictures of him, showing to the world him bringing dishonor to his Fathers name. Because they do not know Jesus is why they do that.

Ya know, I kinda laugh at the beard argument. Are people really that critical about such minor things? What of the absence of facial hair of Jesus in the Last Supper painting of Leonardo Da Vinci? Is that really what Jesus could have looked like? a Very European complexion Jesus to say the least but yet the Renaissance era held this up at what they thought of when they thought of Jesus. This debate is clearly nothing new.

Don't listen to Them, these people don't know squat.

What Did Jesus Really Look Like?

Most everyone is familiar with the blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Jesus that adorns millions of people's fireplaces and bedrooms, as well as thousands of churches. However the Jewish historian, Flavius Josephus, who lived circa 34 A.D., gives an historical account that looks quite different from that beautiful man on the wall:

"Both his nature and his form were human: for he was a man of simple appearance, mature age, short growth, three cubits tall [about 4 and a half feet, based on the Jewish cubit], with scanty hair, but having a line in the middle of the head after the fashion of the Naziraeans, eyebrows meeting above the nose so that the spectators could take fright, with a long face, a long nose, and with an undeveloped beard, dark skin, and hunchbacked." (The Messiah Jesus and John the Baptist According to Flavius Josephus, Robert Eisler, Ph.D.; The Dial Press, New York; pp. 425-429)

Keep in mind that Jesus was a Jew, not a Caucasian, and his skin would have been burnt even darker by his constant exposure to the sun during his constant travels. He would have looked like a Bedouin to us. Also keep in mind that archaeological excavations have revealed that the average height of first-century Jewish males was five feet. (Roman males of the period averaged five feet four) At four and a half feet tall, Jesus was definitely undersized even for his time. By modern standards of height, he was a midget. It is important to remember that standards of hygiene were very different as well. First century Jews didn't bathe, except for ceremonial washings of their hands and feet. They didn't use deodorant or have toothbrushes and mouthwash. Jesus was dirty, stank, and had bad breath.
According to Josephus and the Bible, this is what Jesus really looked like:

וַיַּ֨עַל כַּיּוֹנֵ֜ק לְפָנָ֗יו וְכַשֹּׁ֙רֶשׁ֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ צִיָּ֔ה לֹא־תֹ֥אַר ל֖וֹ וְלֹ֣א הָדָ֑ר וְנִרְאֵ֥הוּ וְלֹֽא־מַרְאֶ֖ה וְנֶחְמְדֵֽהוּ׃
For he has grown, by God’s favor, like a tree crown,
Like a tree trunk out of arid ground.
He had no form or beauty, that we should look at him:
No charm, that we should find him pleasing.

He was despised, shunned by others,
A man of suffering, familiar with disease.
As one who hid his face from us,
He was despised, we held him of no account.

Basically, Isaiah, is telling us, that the future Messiah, Jesus, would be about as UGLY as SIN is.

So, if Chosen, were trying to display this truth, this Character, would have been the better choice for Jesus, "Aalok Mehta: Barnaby."

There are some really good points there to consider. All in all, I really think the physical appearance of Jesus is something secondary we should hold loosely and not get into such petty , divisive spats. Jesus wouldn’t want us to argue about such things . I believe He even rebuked James and John for trying to fight with Samaritans. Our cancel culture today even seems to infect Christianity at times. If 1 thing in a narrative or video series doesn’t fully support to their narrow view of physical Jesus or their limited or biased interpretation of scripture the whole baby gets thrown out with the bath water. Then you start having people cancel culture things like the chosen just because (Johnathan Rummies) hair was too long or his beard wasn’t quite like a true Jew. It’s silly and they miss the deeper portrayal of Jesus’ heart towards both the unbelieving sinners and the saints.

Imagine being triggered by a movie.
But at the same time this shouldn't be so surprising because many think they got the Truth and think that the Earth is flat.
This fanfare of triggered people is the party after the party when you watch this great series.

Here is the thing we must always remember.
I take it, you, like myself and others, have watched the Chosen Series off the Internet.
After each Episode, they are also providing Testimony, from people, who have come to God because of this Series.
They were no different than us when we were first Saved.

I've yet to read, on these forums, a new member claiming, I read one of Nov25 posts, or this residentalien, and it moved me to want to accept Jesus into my heart.

But, the Series called Chosen, is bringing in literally HUNDREDS to Christ!

We know by the FRUIT, meaning, the Results of the Labor.

It's quite obvious, whose FRUIT, is Godly, and whose is not!

Total nonsense and very doubtful. Isaiah was referring to the appearance of Christ is His extreme agony on the cross. When He was smitten of God and afflicted. If anything, Jesus of Nazareth would have been a very striking personality.

No one likes a whisperer, friend. Go ahead, I can take it; but everyone can see what you're doing, and who knows, maybe they'll be next on your hit list.

Don't know how you swallow ^ this baloney at all!

Upon whom has the Arm of GOD been revealed?

For he has grown, by God’s favor, like a tree crown
Like a tree trunk out of arid ground
He had no form or beauty, that we should look at him:
No charm, that we should find him pleasing.

^
NONE of that is Upon the Cross!

Want to talk about if the Father and Son are the Same Essence?
Isaiah, says the Messiah, is the Arm of GOD, all part of the Same Body of God!

No matter the forum, if people, are finding God, like from the Chosen Series, All Heaven, is Rejoicing!
But here, people like You, do their best to find any little fault to shed light towards it, like in this very Thread.
Heaven is Rejoicing and You are Destroying!

You and the Views of Heaven, are nothing alike.

Why would anyone find what you say, beneficial, in examples, like this?

Didn't Jesus say that those that weren't against him, were on his side? Ah, yes. Here it is. Mark 9:38-41:

“Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”
“Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

The Chosen isn't against Jesus. They have said they're trying to spread the gospel. People are turning to Christ and repenting of their sin.

I only watched about 5 minutes of this before I wanted to barf. Phil Robertson says: "Seeing something is a lot more powerful than reading something." However, the Lord said just the opposite: "Jesus said to him, 'Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.' ” John 20:29 He also compliments Dallas Jenkins for "bringing the scriptures to life." But Jenkins doesn't bring the scriptures to life; he brings ideas about the scriptures from his own mind to life.

These guys are Christian celebrities, not ministers of the gospel. They're there for their own mutual benefit, not Christ's. What's it going to take to wake people up?
I get what you're saying but Jesus didn't say reading was more powerful, either. It seems everyone opposed to this show are saying "read the Bible only!" But that's not possible for everyone. And, of course, the NT wasn't a thing then, anyway. And Jesus might have scolded Thomas but he didn't condemn him for wanting to see to believe.

Also, there are different ways to learn. Some people understand better through audio, some through visual, some by reading. All can be used to share the Word. I mean, there are missionaries that go to other countries and show little movies about Jesus to the children. Are they wrong because they're showing something instead of just standing there reading?

I know for me and my kids, seeing how people lived in that time and watching the stories come to life has made it more real to them. I find it strange that this aspect is being deemed "wrong".

I dont like the alphabet thing not one bit it is sin.... You are harsh when someone says they hope the show will lead to a soul conviction.

Any alphabet folks working at the places you shop? Maybe they work at the factory that built your car. Any friends that maybe have some sins? Any loved one cheat on the taxes. Sex is not the only sin. Maybe you "looked " at another woman 'that way' once? As you say there is no middle ground right?
That's right, there's no middle ground, either you're saved or you're lost. There is no doubt that we are all sinners, and I know that I am one. I have gay friends, but they don't try to force the stuff down my throat. Neither do I try to force anything on them, but if you love people, you will let them know about the only way to salvation by introducing them to Jesus Christ. All the things you mentioned are sins, and if we don't repent and turn to Jesus Christ to pay our sin debt, we are forever lost. That's up to the people if they continue to live in sin and don't repent. It is our goal to proclaim the good news of salvation to them, so they may save themselves from much pain in the future. If someone says they are saved and they let someone living in sin think it is OK, and you do not warn them, then my friend, maybe you should reevaluate your faith. In the Bible, we are told how to determine whether we are saved. The Bible is the only source of truth.

Wow. So because I advocate for praying for a sinner I'm in the middle ground? I'm pretty sure Jesus is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. What "sides" are you speaking of? Your side? God's side? Because I stand with Yahweh.
Never said you should not pray for them. I pray for them. But as far as them being part of the set and promoting their sin to everyone on the set. NO that is not right. It is not OK.

When the Church allows compromised Christian leaders to explain away sin, compromise truth, and sin with impunity, we exchange truth for lies. We become no better than idolaters, people whose credulous adoration of compromised leaders fulfill what Paul calls exchanging "the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man . . . exchanging the truth of God for a lie" (Romans 1:22, 25).
