Why is breaking a mirror considered to be bad luck? It has to do with the idea that a person’s reflection is another version of the original, and if the mirror is damaged, that person would be damaging themselves and their souls.
Vampire legends concerning reflections. This superstition is a negative aspect of mirror reflection. A vampire is said not to have a soul; therefore, they cast no reflection of their image. The superstation claims that as a vampire is killing a victim, the victim’s reflection will slowly disappear from a mirror.
A gruesome superstition: Man’s imagination and desire to worship Satan or other demons are responsible for many of these superstitions. Thank God for the truth, a truth that invalidates man’s foolish notions.
Why are new brides carried across the threshold of their new residence? This superstition goes as far back as Rome and maybe further.
The bride is carried across a threshold by the groom for fear she would lose her virginity to the earth rather than her husband.
But more recently, in parts of Scotland at the beginning of the 20th century, brides were carried over the first step of a house for fear that she would bring in some form of witchcraft.
The groom was free from both the risks involved in keeping his virginity and the chance of being affected by any form of witchcraft.
So why do we still do it today?
