For many reasons our prayers seem to go un answered in life. I for one have wondered why sincere good Christians do not have their prayers answered. The Bible gives explanations for many questions and those explanations are not based on how God sees our needs and doesn't have mercy on them. But that there is a new law that He requires us to follow. For even if we have legitimate needs in this life they can go un resolved based on the law of faith. "faith is our response to God's ability made complete by our actions." Is this what it means to be co-laborers? Does God seek to work in and through us by our response (by faith) to His ability? Is it because we don't understand because we don't know His Word and we lack knowledge of how His Word works? Is this why without faith it is impossible to please God and without faith we won't see His hand doing amazing things in our lives? Is God unmoving when it comes to having faith in Him and therefore calls us to the law of faith under the new covenant?

Here is another Christians viewpoint on what the Bible says about the law of faith in our lives as Christians. This is very interesting and another insight into how God deals with us under the new covenant.

THE LAW OF FAITH
Luke 8:45, "And Jesus said, 'Who touched me?' When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, 'Master, the multitude throng thee, and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?'"
MATTHEW 9:18-20; MARK 5:21-34; LUKE 8:40-48

The multitudes were thronging Jesus. That is, they were compressing, and crowding in on all sides, so it seems strange that He would ask, "Who touched me?" Many people were physically touching Jesus, but this woman touched His power by faith. Many people in the crowd probably needed healing, but this person is the only one mentioned who received. The difference was the touch of faith.

If it was simply Jesus' willingness to heal that determined whether or not the healing took place, then all of the sick in this multitude would have been healed. This instance illustrates that it's not prayer that saves the sick, but rather the prayer of faith that saves the sick (Jas. 5:15).

Healing is governed by law and not by a case by case decision from God based on His feelings toward us. This woman received her healing by the law of faith before Jesus knew anything about her. Impassioned pleas to God will not obtain the miracle we seek. Although Jesus is touched by our feelings, it requires faith. It's not because Jesus doesn't know our needs or hear our cries that miracles don't happen, but rather it's because very few know how the law of faith works.

One of the main differences between a God-kind of faith and a natural, human faith, which everyone has, is that human faith believes only what it can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel. God's kind of faith believes in things that cannot be seen. You must believe that you receive your answer "when you pray" - not when you see the thing you've desired. Simply put, faith is our response to God's ability, made complete by our actions. Trust Him completely and, because you believe, your actions will follow.

I pretty much agree with what you've posted. I want to add if we are praying for something not of God's plan then it is futile. We must pray for God's will be done just as Jesus told us how to pray. And yes have faith it will be answered. I used to pray for specific things then be disappointed when they didn't happen. Now I pray for God to have His way with me and I know I'll make it through whatever comes my way. You have to step out on the water and have faith that God will always be there.

I'm new to the faith that the gifts are for today Christine1974., But the more I study and live day to day God has led me to move forward in faith and it's become a daily revelation of His Word now. What you said about how you "used to pray for specific things then be disappointed when they didn't happen" I'm learning that knowing what He has freely given to us is major and He will lead us to know what is for us.

And knowing He loves us so much and desires to give us above and beyond what we can ask or think shows His Word in a whole new way. The promises are ours and many of us Christians never thought so. So we don't walk in them and they are not real in our lives. And our prayers are not answered because we don't understand the law of faith.

God doesn't over ride our free will and we have the responsibility to read His Word and find out what His promises are for today. And then walk in them by faith and claim them by faith. Since we are In Christ, we have the place to claim the promises He died to accomplish for us and in us.

So what some may call outright wrong to claim something from God as if He has to do it I've found God is very glad when we know we are able to claim His promises because we are believing and trusting our Father in what He said and in the power of what Jesus died to give us. Not in our own strength but in Christ alone. This kind of faith is pleasing to God.

It's stepping out and believing He loves us that much. He secured us by Jesus in His love, and made us a new creation in Christ, then by faith (because without faith it is impossible to please God) we step out "on the water" as you said and have faith that He will always be there. This is pleasing to God and it also follows the law of faith.

Religion says God wants us to give to God and follow rules to please Him. But a real relationship with God shows us how to take from God and in the taking from Him we learn how to give back to Him and to those around us. Real intimacy with God is the opposite of religion the way the world teaches.

It's a daily journey and God is always there for us. Amen.
