It seems to me, that in our day and age of technology, we have a very false notion that our technological advancements give us power and security. Technology gives us a false atmosphere that we have power and can conquer nature. But alll of the pomp and glory of technology is a false glory and a fading advancement. As Christians we should realize this, but we are ever so deceived by the sense of "power" and "security" which technology gives us. We cannot seem to break away from the worldliness and comfort that it affords us... This is where the Matrix robots come into play. Its as though Satan himself and the demons are robots who are using technology to harvest us for energy. Satan and his demons use the technology we have into making us commit idolatry. Idolatry committed when a human being gives divine honor to created things, whether man-made or in nature.

Technology isn't bad, its just that if we start to see technology as though it were God Himself and a God, then we are committing idolatry. If we look at our technology and see not God in it but something else, then we are committing idolatry. This happens very easily with technology because the organic things in nature (trees, plants, etc) are very easily recognized as being works of God's own hands, but the things created by man's hands (technology) have a very strong tendency to blind us to the spiritual things of God. This is why we must try to understand that everything exists because of God and that it is He that gives us the ability to create these technological creations. This is how we escape this tendency in us to idolize the work of our own hands.

The saying in Isaiah must not be forgotten in our days of technology and potential idolatry!

"And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory". Isaaiah 6:3

Romans 1:18 " For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
19 Because that which is known of God is manifest among them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Divinity, so that they are without excuse.
21 Because, having known God, they did not glorify Him as God, or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of the own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies among themselves,
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen."

True, but it also has been very good in making humans corrupt. People in the old days had to work hard for their living and life in general was hard, but nowadays since technology makes everything so easy, we have a much easier time becoming corrupt.

Just read Revelation:

Revelation 3:17 Because you say, 'I am wealthy, and have become rich, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked,

David clearly explains what it means to make an idol out of material things:

Psalm 135:15 LXX The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the works of men's hands.
16 They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see;
17 they have ears, but they cannot hear; for there is no breath in their mouth.
18 Let those who make them be made like to them; and all those who trust in them.
