Moment of faith, I don't have a cape, but it's Col. 1:13-18. The Greek even uses the same technical term witches use, pleroma in vs. 16. In practice, the Holy Spirit in us keeps most of them away on a day-to-day basis. If you know your righteousness, and stay close to Jesus, you can easily drive them out of any who desire it. (With or without the "bells and whistles" of the pea soup vomited, people flying through the air, the demon reciting your sins in public or banging on the door as it tries to leave, and whatever else Holywood is showing in the latest movie.) My wife and I have both sent demons packing for a while at least, by just ordering them to leave the area under our breath, when we got tired of listening to swearing while waiting for a bus, for example. People who insist on being possessed, like witches, can be turned away just by telling God you trust Him for your doorknob not to be touched; my wife once watched them through the window where she was ministering the music at a home church and did not wish to let anyone know who the people were. The demon must obey Jesus in you, and if you know your righteousness in Him, you will not use this other than in the way He directs, so it will always work. The demon cannot stay when you exert Jesus' authority; if the person purposely wants to keep the demon, he leaves.

Who trembles in the name of Jesus ??? Demons aka Fallen Angels -- As they said you have come before your time.

Matthew 8

29 They began screaming at him, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?”
30 There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding in the distance. 31 So the demons begged, “If you cast us out, send us into that herd of pigs.”

Much has happened since I got involved here yesterday. I will try to answer everyone who has responded to me:

Post #8 Shilo, Both 2Pt, and Jude are referring to fallen angels. The question is if they are the same thing as demons. These verses confirm the story in the Book of Enoch, but do not address the question. God never said to breed after their kind to angels. Angels populate heaven; God's command was to most things on earth.
.
Yes, Jude and Peter are both taking about fallen Angels. Why were the angels put in chains for not obeying GOD and having sex with a woman. If you reread my post I said Angels were not to have children because they live forever this was not given to them. They desired to have children and went into the daughters of men. Women and sex with fallen angels the children from this mating are an abomination because human women were never met to have children with fallen angel. Women were only to have children with human men. Look where I say the Nephilim are the children of the fallen angels and then I answer the question when the nephilim lose their flesh part given by the woman then they are now spirit only and at that time they become demons. So I answered the question. If you know the book of Enoch then you know it goes into more detail about what the fallen angels were doing and their offspring.

What is the Biblical explanation for what a demon or unclean spirit is? Where do demons originate from? Does anyone know?

(Please note this is not a quiz. I am really trying to find out). Thanks in advance! God bless.
I won't try and explain it but these Bible verses come to mind...

Revelation 16
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and[f] of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

personally I don't really care who they used to be. I am more concerned with what they are doing in the present time. How through God's love and wisdom we can break the chains of lies and sins that they use to enslave the people around us.

The word demon is not found in the KJV so people need to study the Bible properly. To say that angels and women had children is not according to the Bible and is a false doctrine.

The book of Enoch as the world knows it is a fake and not to be trusted as inspired scripture. I know people won't like hearing it but I'm going to be blunt.

The verse from Revelation refers to the demons as the Beast, the False prophet and the Dragon. they have evil spirits come out of them.

Just as the HOLY Spirit comes forth from the Father. However God is much MORE than any angel or demon could ever hope to be. Just as the Holy Spirit is more as well. however that is another topic.

someone quoted verses as if the HOLY Spirit could be divided and spread among people but that understanding goes against scripture that says ONE Spirit.

Just read the Bible, pray about it. don't be afraid to admit you may be wrong and God will lead you to know what you need to know and tell you that you don't need to know everything you might want to know.

They are fallen angels, one third of them were cast out of heaven with the enemy
They are in chains of darkness or a spiritual relm
They wait in terror of judgement day

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder

Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

Luke 8:2 And also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,

Luke 4:33-35 And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, “Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm

Luke 4:41 And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ

Luke 11:14 Now he was casting out a demon that was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke, and the people marveled.

Luke 9:37-42 On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out. It convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” ...

1 Corinthians 10:20 No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.

Matthew 10:1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over demon spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

Matthew 12:45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

Matthew 12:22 Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw.

Acts 19:13-16 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Acts 16:16-18
As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.

Mark 5:2-20 And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an demon spirit. He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him

Mark 3:22-30 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.
Mark 1:23-26 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him

Revelation 18:2 And he called out with a mighty voice, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast

Revelation 16:13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.

1 Samuel 16:14-23 Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him. And Saul's servants said to him, “Behold now, a harmful spirit from God is tormenting you. Let our lord now command your servants who are before you to seek out a man who is skillful in playing the lyre, and when the harmful spirit from God is upon you, he will play it, and you will be well.” So Saul said to his servants, “Provide for me a man who can play well and bring him to me.” One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the Lord is with him.”

Judges 9:23 And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem, and the leaders of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech
