No amount of cheerleading on this thread for the Catholic Church will ever change my mind about their traditions and coverups. For every Scripture they show to back a tradition they are covering up 10 other traditions that have no Scripture to back them at all. All the picking and plucking from the Bible would not change the fact that they, like the Pharisees of Jesus day, have their own system of making new laws and rules deemed equal or more than equal to the Scriptures. I will say it is not the only modern day Pharisee-ism around, but it is the most complete.
And no amount of anti Catholic bashing will ever get me convinced that She is wrong. Because the simple truth is, the Roman Catholic Church was Founded by Christ and handed directly onto St. Peter by Christ, and St. Peter's successors can be traced to this day.

Now! "For every Scripture they show to back a tradition they are covering up 10 other traditions that have no Scripture to back them at all."

I'm hoping you are going to explain this "covering up" stuff you accuse us of doing. You ask the questions, and I will answer them. And then, I want to ask YOU some questions. Put your money where your mouth is, champ! God bless.

the Church upheld the teachings of Peter and Christ.
Hi Seven :)

Thing is, you believe Peter was the first pope because you've been told he was. How can you trust what you've been told? Scripture will tell you the truth always. The bible says that Christ commissioned Peter to become chief minister to the circumcised (Jews), not to the uncircumcised (gentiles). Paul dealt with gentiles, not Peter.

Galatians 2:7-8: "But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me (Paul), as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles)"

Romans 15:16: "that I (Paul) might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit"

Romans 15:18: "For I (Paul) will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient"

Luke 22:24-26: "Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves"

The early church was in Jerusalem. All born again believers are called to be fishers of men. All are part of the body of Christ, with different gifts.

Scripture is to be the measuring stick for teaching and practice, to test everything against, not trusting in apostolic successors. It's by examining the scriptures that teachings are shown to be true or false.

You're right, I was told that the line of popes came from St. Peter, but then I shown how and it was explained to me. We have to remember though that the word "Pope" was never used back then. The actual word doesn't really matter as much as the position held. But Katy, are you trying to tell me that the teachings of Peter and Christ are not upheld by the Pope or Catholic Church? Scripture IS the measuring stick, like you said. And I have given an answer for every question you guys ask about scripture and the Catholic Church's teachings. We trust the apostolic successor because he DOES lead us according to scripture and because he is led by the Holy Spirit! "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it."

We ARE all part of the body of Christ with different gifts. Amen!

If you want to continue to lie to yourself, that's fine, but don't call me a liar, my family is Roman Italian, my grandfather immigrated from Rome, my husband's family is from Puerto Rico, so I know first hand the deceptions and traditions of the Catholic church, you claim to not be a mary worshipper, to pray the rosary and bow down to her statues suggest otherwise, when you not only listen to the sacrements but also participate in them you are in agreement that the work of the cross is not enough, your actions speak louder than any denial you might make

And how exactly am I deluded? Could it be I speak the truth yet your heart is against it? The people love to remain in darkness
Open your heart to God's truth and He will take the blinders off your eyes

Yeah, you guys could form a team, spreading false teachings about how Adam and Eve had sex with animals, how the Catholic Church is so terrible, and what a swell guy that heretic Martin Luther is.

I do not promote false religion! Like the Jehovah's witnesses and Mormon your eyes our blinded, the Vatican promotes false teaching, woe into me if I just sat back and did not tell you the truth! Also serpent seed is a false teaching, besides that how can you align yourself to a religion that says the work of the cross is not complete! If that isn't blasphemy I don't know what is

Prove it!
I have backed up my claims with what your own popes have written
Prove it? 7seven7 and myself have been proving it to you for weeks now. You just don't read though and rather choose to remain willfully ignorant, ranting on and on about things you know nothing about.

The girl who insists that Martin Luther translated the KJV is telling me to come prepared. LOL!

Goodnight, carey. It's bedtime. Peace be with you.

Compare your Catholic Bible to the Holy Bible and you will see for yourself what the Vatican has added and taken away from God's Word, but you won't do it, cause that will show you the absolute truth

Coming from a Roman Italian family doesn't by any measure mean you know anything about the Catholic Church. You really obviously know nothing about what you accuse us of doing. And the work of the Cross most certainly is more than enough, in fact perfect for the outcome of eternal salvation. But sister, it is YOU who doesn't think it is not enough. It is YOU who thinks that after everything we put the Almighty Lord through in the past, He will just let us do what we like, "sin baldly" as Luther put it, and still have salvation without repentance. How dare you take God for a fool!! How dare you take advantage of God like this!!! I pray that He will expose you to the Truth, bluntly, because it seems bluntly is the only way you will see it. And I would love nothing more than to spend eternity with you in the presence of Christ!! God bless you!
