Take it to God in prayer. ...And your racist attitude too.
Read the post correctly. It was NOT to brag. It was in response to racist people. But you responding as such, reveals your racist attitude...unless you have difficulty reading English. correctly

So does your master's degree and your gift of speaking in tongues elevate you above the rest of us? How can I achieve your level of spirituality?
....your response also reveals your jealousy...I will pray for you to know God more intimately so you do not feel the need to lash out at someone for having more than you do....

Paul would also defend himself against the Romans when he had to by stating his Roman citizenship...would you hatefully respond to him that he was putting on airs too?...so racist and you don't even see it in yourself!

But it is helpful for him to sarcastically ask how he can reach my level???? REALLY? I get called on this but he does not?
If he had read it correctly he would've noticed that the mention of my degree was to respond to people who automatically think others are less than, ignorant, and unschooled.
And yes, I think his way of respo ding is racist. I grew up in the South in the 60's and 70's...so please don't suggest his sarcasm did not have racist undertones.

I am not calling you on anything I think you have just took it more personal I a not saying what he said was right I am only suggesting that what you have said prior to this was very strong and the alluding to racist comments is taking away with what many agreed with that is all :).

"So does your master's degree and your gift of speaking in tongues elevate you above the rest of us? How can I achieve your level of spirituality? "

this comment is sarcastic but it is not racist.

So, Trula, I will tell you why I posted as I did in #839 when I said: "So does your master's degree and your gift of speaking in tongues elevate you above the rest of us? How can I achieve your level of spirituality?"

First of all, I think what you posted in #836 has some good stuff and I mostly agreed with it. I think the gift of tongues is important, applicable, and useful in our world today. But I do not think that speaking in tongues somehow lifts a person above others, or exercising the gift of tongues puts a person in a spiritual position above those who do not speak in tongues. By the question I asked in #839 I wanted to find out your view of tongues.

By your responses, I think I now understand your view . . . We can have different views of tongues and its spirituality and that is OK (at least for me). We can still be brothers.

IF you are going to be angry and now tear done your great comment please go right ahead. Yes, I am a moderator and a Member too. I have the right to speak on any thread in here. I can agree or disagree and I can still be wrong too. Yet do not see what the brother said was racist. If you want to get personal with me please do :) . I have given you a very good complement on your BOLD posting earlier as did others. You want to lower yourself to what one person says be my guest

I am not calling you on anything I think you have just took it more personal I a not saying what he said was right I am only suggesting that what you have said prior to this was very strong and the alluding to racist comments is taking away with what many agreed with that is all :).

this comment is sarcastic but it is not racist.
Yes, I agree my comment was sarcastic, and it was intended to be so - to be openly sarcastic -
I wanted to see what kind of response it would evoke - and I got a response - LOL!

Should I apologize for my approach - maybe - I am open to criticism - but I did find out what I wanted to find out . . .

I agree to disagree with you. I do not consider his chiding to be a sign of him accepting that others can achieve greater than he has, and that disdain is only heightened when it is a person of color....but maybe you have experienced more prejudice and can unequivocally say that he did not have racist undertones in his sarcasm.

I am a Christian in California and a Latino and a minster. Yes, I think I qualify as to knowing much about racist and bias and discriminatory laws against not only my ethnicity but my faith too.

You may say my response was racist if you wish, but I have no idea what you are talking about - I am not from the South so I am lost about what you are trying to say by that comment.

To be blunt about my concern, Trula, it feels like you think you are superior to those who do not practice or have the gift of tongues. If I am wrong about that, I am sorry. If I am right, I am not sorry for exposing your attitude.

I did not see anything that suggested he was saying he was superior to you because of Tongues or his academics achievements. I think he mentioned it because the idea that was said by you or suggested the lack of ability to understand the word of God, I do not think he needs me to speak for him but that is what I have seen in his posting.

Nothing suggested he was better or one was less because of tongues.

A moderator and a brother whom I highly respect says I should apologize, so I will do so . . .

I am sorry, Trula, for being sarcastic in my approach, rather than just outright and up-front. It was not nice. Sorry . . .
