The enemy knows the scriptures quite well and quoted them to Jesus. If Jesus had done what you say above, he would have fallen for the trap.
The enemy either, 1. Does not quote actual scripture 2. Presents it out of context. He twists it. Jesus quoted actual scripture relevant to a topic.
When the gift of tongues was given on Pentecost they spoke known languages they have never learned. No scripture would have told anyone there that this is the Holy Spirit.
Those present HEARD things being spoken in their own languages. That is why people were perplexed.

Peter told them what they were hearing was due to the individuals receiving the Holy Ghost. His words were recorded for all to understand what happened then, and what one can expect upon receiving the Holy Ghost.

Jesus never spoke in tongues and He was filled with the Holy Spirit. Same with JOhn the Baptist. There are only a few incidents of being filled recorded so your "every" person consists of a handful of time.
The "every one" you reference comes from Peter instructions given for every one. (See below) Peter states that those who obey God can expect to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Just because he does not mention tongues does not exclude what is clearly evidenced about the experience in other scriptures. This concept holds true concerning belief, repentance, etc. Not every aspect of the salvation plan is contained in detail in relevant biblical records.

Acts 2:38-39
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Jesus never spoke in tongues and He was filled with the Holy Spirit. Same with JOhn the Baptist. There are only a few incidents of being filled recorded so your "every" person consists of a handful of time.
The salvation plan that includes the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues began when the New Testament church was birthed on the Day of Pentecost.

Prior to Jesus' death, burial and resurrection no one could be reborn spiritually. After Jesus ascended into heaven He shed forth the Holy Ghost ushering in the ability for people to partake of the rebirth experience.

Don't lose sight of the fact that a concept is always established by 2-3 witnesses in the Word. When an event SEEMS to contradict an established concept it points to the fact that there is something different about the event. God's Word never contradicts itself.

Jesus was sinless therefore He was in direct communication with God. Speaking in tongues was not required.
Actually it is the truth that is established, not a concept. You are right about God never contradicting himself. BUt I do not see Jesus or GOd establishing concepts. Truth? yes. Concepts? Not that I read in the Bible.

It all happened in its time. Today these are called lying signs and wonders.
NO the Holy Spirit does not lie now does Jesus. Jesus said you will, shall receive Power in Acts 1:8 Jesus never said it has stopped. Your hate for the Spirit of God is very troubling. Your scoffing and mocking.

I totally agree with your last paragraph..... No Jesus,no death, burial or resurrection,no born again experience.
However God has always had a remnant of people that served Him.
I agree too that Jesus breathed on them and said" receive ye the the Holy Ghost" before He ascended.
What I don't agree with is your stance on saying all must speak with tongues and if you don't,you don't have the Holy Spirit.
God IS, God the Father,God the Son( Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit, together they are the Almighty!

That said,I do have the initial evidence as quoted in Acts.

Tongues and raising the dead were both gifts of Spirit. If you can"speak in tongues" you can raise the dead.
Good point! Has anybody here ever raised somebody from the dead? (somebody preached on tongues-they said tongues were the easiest ‘gift’ to fake, but do those same people have all 9 ‘fruits’?)

good point? If you rip out the scriptures that say according to HIS will. God is still raising the dead the question is you have the same Holy Spirit as do the rest of us why not you?

All believers have the Holy Spirit. But now have scripture which is far better than tongues and prophecy.

Does not say that. You are assuming healing from God OR medicine and there is no mixing of the two. There is no indication that God stopped loving people enough to heal them. It says he forgives our sins and heal our diseases. HOw come you think forgiveness of sins has not stopped along with healing of diseases?
God still heals. The prayer of faith heals the sick. But the gifts are no longer needed.

you can mock the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If you understood In you and upon you as the word of God says when Jesus told us this in John 14. Later confirmed in John 20:22 and in Acts 2:4

Sorry, I do at times find it difficult to find the right words to convey what I mean. What I mean is according to God's word, one can only be assured that their belief pertaining to any given subject is accurate is if what they believe is revealed in at least 2-3 scriptures.

If you have any of the gifts of the Spirit, take a video and post it. Do what the Apostles did in Acts. Nobody has these gifts today since the Epistles were written.

“Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.” (2 Timothy 4:20) (KJV 1900)

“Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.” (1 Timothy 5:23) (KJV 1900)

“Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.” (Galatians 4:12–15) (KJV 1900)

(alternate translation of the above passage) “you know that previously I preached the gospel to you because of a physical illness. You did not despise or reject me though my physical condition was a trial for you. On the contrary, you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus Himself.” (Galatians 4:13–14)(HCSB)

“What happened to this sense of being blessed you had? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.” (Galatians 4:15)(HCSB)

“For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.” (Philippians 2:26–27) (KJV 1900)

Paul left Trophimus in Miletus when he was sick (II Tim 4:20), and Epaphroditus was sick to the point of death (Phil 2:27). Timothy was encouraged to use wine for his stomach ailments (1 Tim 5:23). God never removed Paul's thorn in the flesh (II Cor 12:1-10).

I am aware of the experience you reference where Jesus breathed on the disciples prior to His ascension. This event could not have been the total indwelling of the Holy Ghost that all are required to receive. Jesus Himself said that the Holy Ghost could not be given until He ascended. Also, if the disciples were totally indwelt by the Holy Ghost the experience they had on the Day of Pentecost would not have been necessary.

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." John 16:7

You have asked foolish performances from me and others before. Not going to happen, only an adulterous perverted generation asks for a sign. The Apostle was not performers those who came to them were seeking God and their needs met. Your request is unBiblical and frankly what I hear from those outsides of the faith. Your Biblical reference does not say God is no longer healing and uses a doctor LOL. That is foolishness.

I know of people whose gift of tongues were actually a language that an unbeliever knew and they were converted as a result. That is a gift.

Dave, if you want a gift ask Him for one in the privacy of your own prayer time. What do you have to lose? We will never know.

LOL Dave-L You are not an authority nor do I have to do what you say to Validate the word of God. I have no false claims I have stated that the word of God and HIS actions that are recorded in the word of God is still happening. I believe it even if I did not see it.
I have seen God's hand Heal and save. I have seen The Holy Spirit empower and use men and women. God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. You do not speak for everybody else only yourself.

The prayer of faith heals sparingly. But you claim the signs and wonders of the Apostles are for all and you cannot prove this without evidence now far gone.

This is not biblical tongues. Possibly a form of demon possession. Tongues were a language only God understood and those who interpreted.
