And yet Five Point Calvinism deviates from the true Gospel. The true Gospel says that (1) God offers salvation to all of mankind and (2) Christ died for the sins of the whole world. Calvinism rejects these Gospel truths.
Oh, Nehemiah6, you're throwing shade on our Five Points of Calvinism! It's like saying our theological bouquet has a few wilted flowers. But let me tell you, in the Calvinist garden, those five points are blooming like theological tulips in spring!
You're talking about the true Gospel, right? Well, in Calvinism, we believe we've got that locked down tighter than Fort Knox. Picture this: God's sovereignty is like the director of the greatest cosmic drama ever, and He's chosen the cast from the beginning – it's like a divine Marvel movie, and we're the superheroes with irresistible grace capes.
Now, about that "Christ died for the sins of the whole world" bit – we've got a Calvinist remix for you. It's more like "Christ died for the sins of the elect world." We've got this exclusive redemption club, and if you're in, you're in. It's not a limited-time offer; it's a limited atonement offer, tailored for the chosen ones.
And let's talk about salvation – we've got this TULIP-shaped treasure map. Total depravity is like "X" marks the spot – we're dead in sin, but God, in His irresistible grace, flips the switch and brings us to life. Unconditional election? That's God's VIP invitation to the eternal banquet, and it's not based on anything we did – it's all grace, baby!
Now, Nehemiah6, don't get me started on Arminianism. It's like they're trying to put God in a theological straitjacket. We Calvinists believe God is the director, producer, and star of the show – no script rewrites by human wills allowed. Arminianism is like a theological choose-your-own-adventure, but we're sticking to the divinely written script.
So, Nehemiah6, next time you think Calvinism deviates from the true Gospel, just remember – we're not deviating; we're just reading the Gospel with a divine highlighter and some theological sunglasses. Welcome to the Calvinist comedy club, where the punchlines are predestined, and the laughs are irresistible!

. . . and voila, you've got the Gospel according to Calvinism.
I'd rather stick to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to Jesus Christ, which pre-dates Calvin's false gospel about 1500 years. You missed the whole point of my post. The verses were given to show the truth was taught for about 1500 years BEFORE Calvin was even born. Jesus, the apostles, and His churches taught the truth long before Calvin. I'd rather stick with what has stood the test of time rather then a newcomer like Calvin.

How can you claim to stick to the Word of God when you change the wording and meaning of it?

Here is the security we have :

(Rom 4:3) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
(Rom 4:4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
(Rom 4:5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
(Rom 4:6) Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
(Rom 4:7) Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
(Rom 4:8) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Those that (sic) know their bible know there's a difference between getting born again and afterward getting filled with the Holy Ghost.
So when I was born again I received the gift of the Holy Spirit. But wait, there's more! What percentage of the Holy Spirit did I get with the original gift? 10%? 25%? 50%?

There is a difference. When one is born again, he is SEALED with the Holy Spirit -- And That's SECURITY! The filling of the Holy Spirit can happen as often as the person allows Him to have control.

Different administration's of the Holy Spirit..

1...Personal indwelling. John 3:16.. Roman's 10.. Ephesians 2 vs 8_9.

2...Corporate local church 'in the midst' role. Not necessarily in a building ..but among the believers as members of that church. Happens thru the book of Acts and early spoken of by Jesus in Matt 16 and 18.

3...Personal infilling.. as the individual relies more on Him...the more the Holy Spirit can use them. Scriptures to do with overcoming and resting in Christ.

You must be one of those that thinks Christians can live like the devil and still be saved right?

The seal is simply God's claim upon us, it does not mean that we will be saved if we turn out back against him like the prodigal son did.

Concerning the prodigal son, Jesus said the Father considered the boy to be dead while he was gone having willingly turned away from the Father.

But once he returned, the Father said the boy was alive again.

Obviously Jesus is not teaching eternal security.

Sounds like you never got filled with the Holy Spirit like we see in the Book of Acts though.

That's what calvinists do!

They have their own definitions to twist scripture so it appears to support their calvinism.

At least making it appear like that to those that don't know God's Word very well.

I do not believe God's children have a 'license to sin'. Baptists have been accused of this for many, many years, but I haven't met one yet that believed that. It's people misunderstood perception that is responsible for this.

The seal is simply God's claim upon us, it does not mean that we will be saved if we turn out back against him like the prodigal son did.

God's claim upon His children cannot be overturned. The prodigal son was the father's son before he left home, while in a far country, "when he came to himself", when "he arose, and came to his father", during his confession, during the festivities, etc. He NEVER ceased being his son. The parable is not about whether the son was a son or not, but about the broken and restored fellowship between the father and his son. All through the parable the prodigal is referred to as his father's son. The parent-child relationship was NEVER severed, just the fellowship between them.

Apparently, you do not understand the parable, nor God's grace.

That's funny, I see them say this on discussion forums frequently.

God's claim upon His children cannot be overturned.
So you believe God FORCES people to live for Him?

That's funny because there's lots of Christians that backslide.

God gave man free will so it's entirely possible to get born again, backslide, and end up in hell.

He does not force people to walk with Him, we have to make the decision to abide in Christ and submit our lives to Him.

It's false doctrine to claim it's not possible to fall away and we see warnings in God's Word telling us in the end timnes some depart from the faith

Ah, romans34, the time-traveling theological critic, pointing out the alleged newcomer on the Gospel stage! In the Calvinist comedy club, where divine banter meets historical perspective, let's embark on a comedic journey through time.
Quoting Calvin with a touch of humor: John Calvin: Ah, romans34, the temporal detective, weaving through the annals of history! Let's consult Ecclesiastes 1:9, "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun." In our Calvinist comedy script, it's not about being new; it's about rediscovering timeless truths.
Cue Calvinistic Chronology: But romans34, in our theological time-travel escapade, let's not dismiss the richness of Gospel truths by focusing on chronology alone. The Gospel isn't bound by the ticking of the clock but transcends every era, including the 1500s.
Quoting the divine script with a touch of temporal wisdom: John Calvin: And Psalm 90:4 reminds us, "For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night." In our Calvinist comedy club, the Gospel isn't confined to a particular timeframe but resonates through the ages.
Addressing the errors with a sprinkle of humor: John Calvin: Now, romans34, let's address the notion of errors in the Gospel. As Proverbs 14:12 wisely notes, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." In our Calvinist comedy script, we're aiming for the Gospel that leads to eternal life, not the seeming right paths that may lead astray.
So, romans34, whether you're navigating the corridors of time or enjoying the divine banter, let the laughter continue. The Calvinist Comedy Club welcomes all, even time-traveling critics, for a theological soirée where the Gospel takes center stage! 🕰️📜😄 #CalvinistComedyClub #GospelClarityChronicles

How can you claim to stick to the Word of God when you change the wording and meaning of it?

Ah, romans34, the linguistic critic stepping onto the divine comedy stage! In the Calvinist comedy club, where theological banter meets linguistic precision, let's waltz through the art of divine language.
Quoting Calvin with a touch of linguistic humor: John Calvin: Ah, romans34, the guardian of linguistic sanctity! Let's turn to Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." In our Calvinist comedy script, we're navigating the delicate dance of theological language with the precision of a linguistic maestro.
Cue Calvinistic Lexicography: But romans34, in our linguistic symphony, let's not forget the nuances of divine vocabulary. As Psalm 119:105 declares, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." In our Calvinist comedy club, we're aiming to illuminate the theological path with the lamp of accurate wordings.
Quoting the divine script with a touch of linguistic wisdom: John Calvin: And Proverbs 4:7 imparts, "The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight." In our Calvinist comedy script, we're seeking the wisdom to understand the profound depths of divine truth, even in the nuances of language.
Addressing the linguistic changes with a sprinkle of humor: John Calvin: Now, romans34, let's address the claim of changing the wording and meaning. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 suggests, "For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." In our Calvinist comedy club, we acknowledge the seasons of language evolution while preserving the timeless truths.
So, romans34, whether you're waltzing through linguistic nuances or enjoying the linguistic symphony, let the laughter continue. The Calvinist Comedy Club welcomes all, even linguistic critics, for a theological soirée where the Gospel takes center stage! 🎭📜😄 #CalvinistComedyClub #GospelClarityLinguistics

Incorrect. Those of the Reformed persuasion are some of the most studied among Christianity.

Well, romans34, you're dropping Bible verses like confetti at a Reformed theology party! John 3:16, Romans 8:1, Ephesians 2:8-10 – it's like you're trying to give me a crash course in eternal security! I haven't seen this many verses since my last theological rap battle.

But you know, in the Calvinist carnival, we've got our own ride – the TULIP rollercoaster. Total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints – that's our theological theme park! It's like the Gospel's version of Disneyland, complete with theological fast passes for the elect.

And speaking of the elect, Calvinism's got this divine VIP list. It's like God's exclusive guest list – you know, the A-list of eternity. If you're in, you're in. It's like having a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but better, because it's eternal salvation we're talking about.

Now, about those Bible verses you dropped – they're like the Calvinist greatest hits album. John 3:16 – the Calvinist remix is like, "For God so loved the elect..." Romans 8:1 – "There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and by the way, they're the ones who were predestined from the foundation of the world!"

So, romans34, you're on the right track with those verses, but in the Calvinist comedy club, we add a bit of TULIP spice to the mix. It's like a theological gumbo – a bit of total depravity here, a dash of unconditional election there – and voila, you've got the Gospel according to Calvinism.

And remember, in the grand Calvinist finale, it's not just about starting the race; it's about finishing strong – perseverance of the saints, baby! So buckle up, enjoy the ride, and let the Calvinist Gospel party begin!
Who knew Calvnism was so much fun!?!??

So you believe God FORCES people to live for Him?
Never said that. You're putting words in my mouth. On the contrary, after we become His children we still have a free will. But going against His will DOES NOT nullify our new birth. He doesn't decide to disown us because we disobeyed. Does any parent who LOVES his children do this?
