His story of beginning Church Age time in Acts , begins with Jesus letting all know soon many, many, would have something happen great unto their being and their life.
Some history:
1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

5 ”For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he said this, he (Jesus) was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.”

So, power will.come. When? Acts 2 middle chapter verses says when: in end times.

What will.happen before the Lord comes again?

1. Your (ALL of our, times then, times NOW) sons and daughters will prophesy.
Well, here's the truth, no need to hear me speak it.

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Ok, so does His story tell us this has ALL happened ?
Has the moon turned to blood? Sun turned to darkness?

If those two things have happened, please, fill me in on when they happened.

Then, comes Acts 2:38 shortly thereafter a few verses of Joel's OT prophecy being repeated by the apostle , Peter , to the many thousands of Jews at this time. These words resonate of truth, for times then and ”last days”.signs of the times NOW :)

Acts 2:38 - Keep in mind we are being referenced to Acts 1: 8 . His power. Holy Spirit power ! Halelujah! About to be POURED on mankind.
John baptized with water, but here comes the INITIATION of your/our/their being able to not just have the HS come and go, like happened to David, John the Baptist even, Elizabeth, too, for now the Spirit is happening different upon those who.are 'numbered' into salvation with Christ. The Holy Spirit is RECEIVED into their temple upon believing in Him as being your Helper, as Christ died, becoming your Savior .

Don't want to inDOCTRINate you too much, LOL, but, Christ peeps, in this thread let's keep.continuing the history of Christ as our 'gift,' whom is threaded after Acts 2:38 initiation into ALL of the rest of Scripture, and, not just His story of spiritual prophecy and tongues giving power and guidance ending after Paul (60 a.d.) and John's (90 a.d.) deaths'.
God wants us tO USE spiritual gifts, as He wills them to.us, as He willed them to those to speak at Day Of Pentecost, of 120 different languages understood by all, of 3000 saved by believing on Him, of so much that went on THEN that goes on NOW today per Christ telling people D.O.P.. that their 'children' will bear witness of events, speaking signs and wonders, plus, those beyond, or, far off from.that beginning Church Age time, that goes on in our lives today, until God returns in a rush (rapture) to take ALL His children Home.

Romans speaks of justication, but also sanctification, which comes from Holy Spirit power working through you.

How so, how does He work through us, green? Through gifts, His way, His timing, ALL.for His glory :)

Gift of Him.once received, per Acts 2:38 goes through Romans getting to.understand ourselves, our 'no good' human nature period our 'no.condemnation' knowing His thinking toward His own, and, yes, latter chapters Romans speak of Holy Spirit sanctification.

Then , 1 Corinthians shows us the history of Paul's letters to Corinth people and by chapter 12 we LEARN (know) that we, indeed, receive the Holy Spirit.

1 Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, a and to still another the interpretation of tongues. b 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Gifts are spoken of then in next books, both directly and indirectly, like, for instance, Ephesians, Christ says we are ”His workmanship CREATED to do.GOOD works,” and, does this 2:10 Ephesians Scripture fairly relate to: 1 Cor. 12 verses?
Go ahead, re-read them and let me know God at work how deciphering those 'common good' verses. :)

What about the 'power' in 2 Timothy 2:20 and surrounding verses, what about relating it to 2 Timothy 1:6 ? Can this be about His power worki..g in us. Gift(s) ! Not that we need to know, or, know what He is doing through us to.work.others to choose Him, but, what is being said here in 2 Timothy ? :)

What about the power Jesus uses to 'quicken' us, can this be hints at the given Acts history of spiritual gifts as done through the gift ALL given of the Holy Spirit?

God is the same yesterday as today as forevermore, and, His(s)tory speaks for itself and it is His , ALL His, so, remember His history is for us to better ourselves for blessing to give Him glory and will be that way for our future too , through His power through us moving us, moving, mysteriously, awrsomely, like Someone who 6000 years ago moved over the face of the deep :)

Why only piperflying like my thread?

I'm just asking you to chrono Scripture that shows history far off beyond Acts, signaling that the spiritual gifts did not die out after their 'usefulness' in Paul's time and Paul's time ended in 60 a.d.

C'mon, can't anyone come up with some good Scripture past Romans 3, past 1 Cor. 12, of spiritual gifts demonstratable via His power? :)

Let me ask you a question, and, yeah, I should do this as another thread since I am trying to think with His story of spiritual gifts history THROUGHOUT Scripture, but what does it mean past being 'baptized in the Holy Spirit?

What does this mean? :)

why do you add this: "Your (ALL of our, times then, times NOW) sons and daughters will prophesy."?

(ALL of our, times then, times NOW) is not in the text.

it is referring to Israel.

that's who the promise was to, and that was to whom it went.

why do you add things without fear green:)?

Acts 2
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tonguesa as the Spirit enabled them.

5Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,b 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11(both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

13Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Peter Addresses the Crowd

14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

So, power will.come. When? Acts 2 middle chapter verses says when: in end times.
what "end-times"?

why did you say end times?

it says In the last days.

that means the very same as it does here - israel knew what God meant when He said the last days....maybe do some word studies on it green:

Hebrews 1
God’s Final Word: His Son

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. (c.68AD)

21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
why did you say before The Lord comes again, meaning the Second Advent?

it doesn't say that.

it says: "before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord."

it doesn't mean the Second Advent here. it means the First Advent and Pentecost.

The Day of the Lord
The meaning of the phrases may sometimes refer to temporal events such as the invasion of a foreign army and capture of a city but it may also be related to predicted events in a later age of earth's history including the final judgment and World to Come. The expression may also have an extended meaning in referring to both the first and second comings of Jesus Christ.

It is used first by Amos and subsequently incorporated into prophetic and apocalyptic literature texts of the Bible. It relies on military images to describe the Lord as a "divine warrior" who will conquer his enemies. In certain prophetic texts of the Old Testament, the enemies of the Lord are Israel's enemies and in these visions the day of the Lord brings victory for the people of ancient Israel. Other prophets use the imagery as a warning to Israel or its leaders and for them, the day of the Lord will mean destruction for the biblical nation of Israel.

Romans 10
9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood

Ok, so does His story tell us this has ALL happened ?
Has the moon turned to blood? Sun turned to darkness?

If those two things have happened, please, fill me in on when they happened.
that is apocalyptic language and means visitation; a day of the Lord; etc. in the Joel 2 case it meant Pentecost.

you find out what it means by seeing when God spoke like that before.

this is the desolation of Babylon by the Medes and Persians:

Isaiah 13
9See,the day of the Lord is coming
—a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
and destroy the sinners within it.
10The stars of heaven and their constellations
will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give its light.

this is talking about the destruction of Pharaoh:

Ezekiel 32
7When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens
and darken their stars;
I will cover the sun with a cloud,
and the moon will not give its light.
8All the shining lights in the heavens
I will darken over you;
I will bring darkness over your land,

so.......is there anything there NOT fulfilled green?

So, power will.come. When? Acts 2 middle chapter
“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. i wonder what you'll do with what i just posted.
change what it says? deny it? ignore it?

or can you just say...oh ya! i get it! i believe God. i see it right there in His own words.

as for this: "since I am trying to think with His story of spiritual gifts history THROUGHOUT Scripture, but what does it mean past being 'baptized in the Holy Spirit?"

i'm sure you'll come up with SOMETHING to convince yourself in spite of what the record says.

Why even trying to discuss it? If people aren't like minded its pointless. Better to share with others who know what you are talking about, than arguing . I will stick with what the Lord has shown me, nobody is going to tell me otherwise
because it was the LORD, and I am not going to say Lord everything YOU taught me, man say's is wrong . By the grace of God . To each his own

do some studies. you'll see it.

how much time do you spend swallowing camels while straining at gnats?

looking for loopholes.
i don't know why when you could be in awe and wonder at what He DID.

Pentecost was A DAY.
ONE DAY.

the Spirit was poured out on the people at Jerusalem, the House of David.
just as God said?

Paul was chosen. set apart exactly for his mission.
he was fully equipped and granted supernatural power - to authenticate his message.
we have the record of his abilities and gifts.

he saw the Resurrected Christ.

do you know how key that is?:)

1 Corinthians 15
The Resurrection of Christ

1Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importancea : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Cephas,b and then to the Twelve. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

Paul spoke many languages, which he learned as a student and citizen.
he likely received the gift of other languages as well. we're not told how many or which ones.

he most assuredly was not saying he spoke more variations of gibbering than all of them.

seriously earl....i love you too.
do you really believe there is a foundation being laid today?
and every day around the world in certain denominations?

or was it already laid, once for all.

Ephesians 2
19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, 20having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.

do you know construction?

what happens after a master builder lays a foundation?

1 Corinthians 3:11
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

There are many builders. But only one foundation. Jesus is the chief corner stone. He is the vine and I am a branch. What's in the vine is in me also. God is not a respecter of person what He gives to one He will give to another. Azuza street verifies this.

”Moon turn to blood,” we've seen many signs of being in the last days but have you seen THIS sign?

What about the Day Of Pentecost being one day?

Ohzone? :)

And , through what means does He bring us to 'abundant life,' and what are to we to ask Him to do in our life once indwelling in us?

Ohzone, why don't you get how 'Power' works through us, in the name of Jesus?

Why can't someone by you be believed when a child has just died on a hospital bed and a Holy Spirit filled believing believer commands that pronounced girl, 'Breathe, in the name of Jesus!' Then, little girl's eyes spring wide open and she turns to her side and throws up. She's alive :)

And, what about in the bible, the man that wants Jesus to heal his bad spirit possessed son and Jesus says 'All things are possible to those who believe.' @\\, ohzone, am I coming at Yewe with hieroglyphics, strange symbols ? Or, is what's being said understandable! Through others, Jesus SAVES. Through others, Jesus HEALS ! .

Praise Him! Praise Him! Praise Him! All power, glory, honor, all to Him, all to Jesus . I surrender all :)
Surrender all, whatever ailing you, whatever keeping YOU from serving Him, by His stripes we are healed, and, by His power, miracles are done when we breath boldly, 'In the name of Jesus.' All.things are possible but ONLY in the name of Jesus.
All men are saved, but only by Jesus ! He is who we are to go before us when speaking to God and we, therefore, let His filled power in us do great and mighty work, Kingdom things!

Everlasting Father is Jesus . All and all. He is all and all.

Ohzone, no, 'the sons and daughters prophesying' and other signs like sun to darkness, moon to blood are NOT mentioned prior to Jesus' birth, or, 'First Advent,' ohzone. Or, is Scripture saying something I miseed.

All these signs happened BEFORE the great and coming day of the baby Jesus?
Vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv vvvvvvvvvvvvvvV

All these signs transpired before The First Advent, ohzone????

I will pour out my Spirit on all people. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood BEFORE the great and mighty day of the Lord comes.

So, I keep waiting to chrono the history of the Holy Spirit and His FIRE, which started with foreshadowing by Jesus in Acts 1:8, then, moved to it happening in Acts 2:38 . "HE's HEEEEEERE !!! " LOL, makes me think of 'Poltergeist' little girl :D

What after these TWO verses can we chrono the Holy Spirit working by His power in our life, through our life, through us?

1. Acts 1:8
2. Acts 2:38

What's #3 (stay in Acts a bit please) , who can add a chronological Holy Spirit verse that speaks His(s)tory of Holy Spirit 'power' in our life long beyone Paul's dying day in 60 A.D. ?

"Oh, green, you're so, so, so, I dunno, different."

You can call me Joe, you can call me moe, you can call me curly, you can call me green eyes (oh, ohzone is sooo right, afterall, I am soooo arrogant :D But, do know, I sift my pride through the Lord Jesus, I humble MYSELF because He asks me too, but I gotta be green, ya know, He knows, He lets me, so, please don't you ? ), you can call be joseph, you can call me boy, you can call me man , you can call me person, you can call me green, you an call me greener, you can call me greenest, you can call me greenest one, you can call me too green, you can call me raw green, you can call me lawngreen, you can even call me crazy, just don't call me late for dinner :D
