How would you factor in the inspiration of the Spirit. There is no required understanding if they are moved along. There is no scriptural evidence that clearly states that the writers of scripture understood what they wrote. He wrote of Darius, a foreign and very future King as Israel's deliverer. Do you think he understood the meaning of all that?

BTW...didn't Isaiah run around practically naked for 3 years?
“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Does whoever is reading scripture know what it means is the question

“the operation of faith “

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:19-22‬ ‭

I didn't catch the meaning of the last sentence.
We are not obeying our own will, but obeying God's will as Jesus Christ did.

Maybe you're familiar with the story of the Tower of Babel,

If God let people build a tall tower, there is no modern elevator, it is not convenient to go up and down the stairs, will be tired, first of all, the problem of drinking water, If you carry water to the tall tower, you'll be tired to death.

And then people engaged in agricultural labor, after a busy day to home and then climb so high building, will delay the next day's work, you can not have a sufficient physical strength to do the next day's work

In the words of the Bible, psalm 18:27
For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

Human's will is sometimes stupid in the eyes of God.
At Pentecost, people heard what Peter said in their own language. The opposite of what happened at Babel.

I can also communicate in English, which is not surprising, even angels and Jesus can communicate with me in Chinese.

Just to make sure I'm following, since you characterize the period that Abraham was living in as a time of grace and not law, he could have completely understood all there was to understand about salvation in the words Jesus used?

He did not need to. He called Him "Lord GOD" which is absolutely correct.
Sure. But the names of God all have meaning. So God reveals more of Himself as He reveals more of His names. Since the name Jesus reveals the person in the Godhead who, in particular, saves people from their sins, then Abraham using some derivation of the name would reveal that he possessed that understanding.

Your conclusion is what I was trying to say with my post. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
i was trying to help clarify and reconcile what you were already discussing I’m sorry if I come off as an opponent ever in any way

I just believe the right scriptures shown to believers help to convict them in faith and build with the materials God has given us of the holy ghost being the written words of the prophets , the law and the gospel which is the center , the beginning and also the ending and the most effective witness of Christ

Our salvation is based on Abraham’s faithfulness is what I’m saying

He is himself and the promise God made to him is the source of how God would redeem mankind

Im saying simply this is a statement about Jesus Christ

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Quite frankly, brother, I have found you to be one of the friendliest and most accommodating on this site and welcome all your responses.
You have a penchant for lengthy responses and I possess a mind for short ones. So the fault doesn't lie in your communication but in my ability to assimilate it.

I long to have 10 hours to do nothing each day. I'd probably settle for that in a week.

God had promised Abraham countless descendants through Isaac which could not have happened if...

This is probably one of the main reasons why Abe's faith was counted as righteousness.

He knew God had not lied to him, and that his son Isaac would not be killed.

Or so the story goes... ;):D
amen abrahams promises and faith are the foundation of Christianity

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12:1-3‬ ‭

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭15:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17:3-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, and said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:15-18‬ ‭

“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:7-9‬ ‭KJV

“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: and the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:3, 6-14, 16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I wish I had only ten per week again

The grass must always be greener
I was married nearly 30 years when my ex left. We have 7 children, all who were homeschooled. It was a difficult transition from largely working to provide for my family to homeschooling my kids and working. I'm not suggesting that God hasn't been very gracious throughout, because He has been abundantly so. But free time was one of the casualties. I believe I can now fall asleep standing up and in mid sentence.

That's the way it should be and it's also why a perfect knowledge of scripture isn't a requirement but a hope ahead of us

My point on the name isn't the form of the name but it's meaning. Abraham wouldn't have used an anglicanized version.
And my point in going through the different stages of Abraham’s faith was to show that faith is an increasing thing as we walk with God. It matured over time and through experience. Just like ours...seed to branches.
If someone wants to believe Abraham understood every aspect of the promise he was given, fine by me. I don't for the reasons given.
Every aspect? Hmmmm. Total knowledge was not hinted at, that I know of  None of us have that ;):D

Unfortunately, God loves to give hints.
He always give me some hints then I will try to find out the answers.
I enjoy in the game of hints.
